Pioneer! Oh, Pioneer!
Anybody seen the new Levi's Commercial? The voice over is from a Walt Whitman poem, but I find the content odd. Has Levi's gone Patriotic?
.
The text,
.
COME my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready,
Have you your pistols? have you your sharp-edged axes?
Pioneers! O pioneers!
For we cannot tarry here,
We must march my darlings, we must bear the brunt of danger,
We the youthful sinewy races, all the rest on us depend,
Pioneers! O pioneers!
O you youths, Western youths,
So impatient, full of action, full of manly pride and friendship,
Plain I see you Western youths, see you tramping with the foremost,
Pioneers! O pioneers!
Have the elder races halted?
Do they droop and end their lesson, wearied over there beyond the
seas?
We take up the task eternal, and the burden and the lesson,
Pioneers! O pioneers!
All the past we leave behind,
We debouch upon a newer mightier world, varied world,
Fresh and strong the world we seize, world of labor and the march,
Pioneers! O pioneers!
.
Watch the commercial,
.
I'm stymied, it's damned near All-American in content. I especially like the "gunshots" for punctuation.

The Enslavement of America's Children
We all know NJ to be a very liberal state and definitely Obummer territory. (something that bothers me personally, since both my grandchildren live and go to school in NJ) We also know some other things.
1. That for the most part, public education in this country is controlled by Left-wing teachers and their Leftist/Communist unions.
2. With the way life is today, most parents are so busy working, that they don't have as much time as they should to watch what's being done to their children. (sadly, this includes my own family) There is no doubt that they are being politically indoctrinated.
On occasion, and in different parts of the country, a group of parents will rise-up after finding out what their children are being exposed to while at school. (anti-Americanism, homosexuality, etc.) More often than not, they are usually ignored or made to appear foolish (as in this case) by the lying Nazi's who run these indoctrination camps. Whatever these parents are doing, it's not nearly enough, not when you consider what's at stake...
"To take control of a nation without military force, you must first control the minds of their young"........... Karl Marx

If you think you're about to be thrown under a bus...
...throw a guy named "Bush" under there first, to break your fall.
.
The MSMorons aren't exactly under the bus, except by the proxy of supporting all this socialist horse carp, but they must protect their leader, and themselves with anecdotal evidence that they're all better than anyone named Bush. In this case, and many others, the MSM points out that the Dems are NOT making headway on the economy. But they point out what happened to GHWB and the economy. What they fail to piont out is that it wasn't JUST the economy, it was one simple sentence that got Clinton elected, and sent Bush to the locker room.
.
"Read my lips, no new taxes!"
.
That was the part of the economy that sunk his re-election. The MSM does the same thing with EVERY topic and GWB right now. Taxes, jobs, world peace, dogs and fleas... But the usual line looks something like this.
.
"...and we admit that we're struggling with [enter BHO's problem of the day here], but GEORGE BUSH, OR HIS DADDY SUCKED MORE THAN US..."
.
All such statements said in that snide, whiny, I hate anyone named Bush voice all liberals have. Here's yesterday's installment of the We're Struggling BUT...Diarys.
.
Job Losses Mar Recovery, Create Woes for Dems
.
A distressed economy is widely blamed for President George H.W. Bush's re-election defeat in 1992, and a decade earlier, for the loss of 26 House seats in midterm elections by Ronald Reagan's Republicans. Yet in both instances recession had already ended or was winding down.
It's a point not lost on President Barack Obama's White House or Democrats headed into next year's midterm elections. The stock market may be up, U.S. service industries may be recovering, banks may be lending again and housing prices holding. But one major piece of the recovery puzzle is still missing: a brighter employment picture.
And that's bad news for the party in power, whether the recession is officially over or not.
Job losses are expected to continue at least into the middle of next year, likely driving the unemployment rate above 10 percent from 9.8 percent last month. It could take three or four more years for it to fall to normal levels.
.
The article has MANY more numbers, facts, projections, but it's all smoke and mirrors, and Chinese Money. But this has nothing to do with the economy, it's about the Health Care Stupid!! If they can keep people stirred up about jobs, they'll ignore that huge health care projectile aimed at their anal sphincter! Because if they pass this health care nightmare, the first procedure we're going to get from those worms in D.C., is a tax payer colonoscopy.

A new record II
If you need ask why, vote for more democrats and invest in printing presses
Afghanistan, get in, or get out!! Even Diane Feinstein gets it!
I've got zero to say about this story, it tells itself. And this is a story from the SFGate, not exactly a right wing rag.
.
Feinstein wants more troops in Afghanistan
.
The U.S. mission in Afghanistan is in "serious jeopardy" and needs more troops to turn the tide against an increasingly potent Taliban insurgency, the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee said Sunday, putting her at odds with an influential Democratic colleague on military matters.
.
California Sen. Dianne Feinstein's views are more closely aligned with those of key Republicans than members of her own party. Sen. Carl Levin, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, urged a more methodical approach that begins with crafting a new, comprehensive strategy for Afghanistan.
"I'm saying at this time, don't send more combat troops," said Levin, D-Mich., who wants the emphasis to be on strengthening Afghanistan's own security forces so they can bear a greater share of the security burden.
But Feinstein, whose post gives her access to sensitive information about the war's progress, said delaying the reinforcements also puts the forces already in Afghanistan at greater risk. She pointed to an Oct. 3 battle in northeastern Afghanistan in which eight U.S. soldiers were killed during an enemy attack on their remote outpost.
"We didn't have the ability to defend them, and now the base is closing, and effectively we're retreating away from it," she said.

A new record!!
We set a new record for the lowest high temperature today. Not only did we set the record... we obliterated it! The old record was 53°. The new record… drum roll… 42°!! Put that in your “burn as much energy in a month as most families burn in a year” pipe and smoke it Algore! We need some global warming! Too bad we can’t get any.
If nobody can READ it, who WROTE it?
Here's an article that talks about how hard it is to read Federal Legislation. The article is about the Obamacare Program, but if the shoe fits...
It almost comes out and says that it is IMPOSSIBLE to read ANY current legislation. I'll buy that premise, but if our elected officials can't read it, who the hell wrote it? Seriously, I understand that "staff" writes this swill, but that's NOT supposed to be how this works. "Staff" should work FOR the elected worm, and the worm works FOR me. Besides which,
.
I didn't vote for "staff", I voted for a person who ran for the office!
How often does "staff" get replaced? Who controls "staff" IF they write legislation, then hand it to the worms to vote on? Isn't this the tail wagging the dog?
.
Beyond that, IF this legislation is that convoluted, how did it grow to ONE THOUSAND plus pages in a matter of just weeks after the inauguration? Could it be that this bill was written and waiting for whomever got elected if the Democrats won? That's awfully cynical, isn't it? But given the crap I see "my" government doing right now, I'm betting I'm not the only one feeling cynicism about all things federal.

The real reason for the Peace Prize?
Because the French NOW build our military jets, and the Chinese NOW build some of our military vehicles.
.
Iconic Hummer brand sold to Chinese manufacturer
.
Hummer, the off-road vehicle that once epitomized America's love for hulking trucks, is now in the hands of a Chinese heavy equipment maker.
General Motors Co. and Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Corp. finally signed the much-anticipated deal to sell the brand on Friday..
.
Obama Motors, for when you've just gotta get to the front, in a (Chinese) hurry!
.
.
I wish this guy was MY School Superintendent
Have surplus? Superintendent will scavenge
.
Five pickups, some hauling 16-foot trailers, pulled alongside the Federal Building, downtown, blocking the left lane of the entire block. The convoy was a red flag in this post 9/11 climate.
Four security guards, one with his gun drawn, raced toward the vehicles, demanding that the trailers be opened.
The prime suspect? Clermont Northeastern School Superintendent Neil Leist and his posse of high-class Dumpster divers. Security didn't get the memo that they would be there to collect the entire contents of the FBI's ninth floor - items that outlived their usefulness for the agency, but worth the price of gold to a cash-strapped rural school district.
In fact, Leist has saved the 1,800-student district hundreds of thousands of dollars by rounding up more than a $1 million worth of high-quality used furniture, computers, kitchen equipment and more from businesses and government agencies.
"It's had a huge impact," said Mike Freeman, a Clermont Northeastern School Board member. "Put in his words, it's stretching taxpayers' dollars. He's very good at bagging."
Leist's office is a testimonial to his prowess as a scavenger hunter:
-His desk came from the FBI.
-His computer is from the closed Ford plant at Batavia.
-Filing cabinets and a conference table were removed from an Ohio Department of Education office that had closed.
-Chairs and the pictures on the wall were donated by 3M, which shut down recently in Union Township.
He manages to get these items by offering to take everything and move it, saving companies and agencies thousands of dollars in fees to hire trucking firms to haul the equipment away. It also gives businesses a tax break. Now, when some of these entities have excess property, they call him first.
The initiative began about three years ago, after Leist was named superintendent in April 2007. The district was struggling financially, so tough times called for thinking outside the box to stretch the district's $16.5 million budget.
.
The school board here in Wake County NC just asked for a $750 million bond, and they got it passed. [we pronounce that name like the waves behind a boat normally, but it's pronounced 'WACKY', when referring to the school board] Those of us who fought it said it was too much and that they'd just ask for more later, instead of being made resposible for what they already had. Before the first payment was ever made from that bond, they indeed asked for ANOTHER BOND of $400 million.

Evidently people are smarter in OH than they are here.

More GD nerve than sense IMHO
Remember way back in the 70's, when we were supposed to be cutting dependence on foreign oil. Especially SAUDI oil? Or OPEC oil in general? Well then, you probably remember also, that we use more foreign oil now, than we did then.
.
Well the UN is holding some kind of (typical) liberal, climate goofest in Bangkok. No doubt it's being held there because of that city's weird sex industry, and when you read this you'll see who is apt to get f**ked first, but I digress.
.
Naturally any climate conference starts from the premise that fossil fuels are evil, and that the country that uses the most is evilist...most evilist...the most evil. But the producers are never seen as evil, mostly because they're usually not white and don't live in the United States. But if you want to see real evil, look at what the Saudis are asking for.
.
Saudis ask for aid if world cuts dependence on oil
.
That's right, the same folks who make BILLIONS on oil yearly, spend part of that on Wahabbist Schools all over the world, then live like Princes, because the guys who control Saudi oil ARE usually from the Saud Royal Family, are claiming, IN ADVANCE, that they'll need charity from the UN, IF the world ever cuts back on buying oil from them. And I'm certain that although we'll be crippled the worst by any climate agreements, they'll all expect "us", spelled with caps and periods like this, U.S. , to pay for it.
.
I don't often say things like this, but the thought of Riyadh becoming a smoking, radio active, glass lined, crater is just fine with me. Soonest would be best.

Apparently, Lord Acton had people like NY Rep. Charlie Rangel in mind when he made that now-famous statement. Old Charlie, the ultra, ultra, liberal Demoncrat, has been a liar, a thief, and a tax cheat for most of his 40 year political career, much like his predecessor Adam Clayton Powell. This is not some big revelation since there are very few people, especially in Harlem, who don't know it. People around the country might ask, "why do they keep re-electing him"? Now that's a perfectly rational question, unless you're from Harlem or DC. You see, in Harlem, Charlie is known as "the govt money tree", that is, he's the guy that brings home the bacon ($$) to Harlem. And in this case, that bacon is your tax money. His pals in DC won't bring it up because if they did, Charlie just might tell the country what his pals are also doing.
Now it seems, Charlie is in hot water. Why? It's the standard reason. Greed! Although in his case, it's extreme greed. Charlie's been "doing his thing" for so long that he feels it's legal! Actually, he's been stealing and lying for so long because, a) he's a NYC liberal, and b) he's black. In politics, especially in NYC and DC politics, that means a free pass. But old Charlie has been really pushing it, so much so, that he's now forced someone to turn the lights on him. Not good! But, since the entire govt. is controlled by his fellow Demoncrats, Charlie's been able to keep his very powerful job in congress, (he actually writes the tax laws! LOL) and has so far managed to dodge the slings and arrows coming from the weakling Republicans. Of course, Charlie's not at all bothered by the fact that he's making fools of every hard-working American tax payer. To Charlie, that's what they're for.
As expected, Charlies pals on the Congressional Black Caucus, and even the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, are coming to his aid. (I assume the Congressional White Caucus is still working on their statement) I guess the general feeling in these two groups is, "hey, he's black and he's been doing this so long, why not just let him ride". Even though the charges, serious charges, are mounting higher by the day, i'm betting old Charlie can con his way out of this. Again. A Demoncrat-controlled congress. A black president. Well, half black. I'll bet Charlie sees a mild slap-on-the-wrist coming, if anything. You know what? I'm betting he's right!

The Bizarro World? No, It's NY
Now, in a desperate attempt to get some political support from someone, anyone, David Paterson, our unelected, incompetent, blind, black Dumbocrat governor, has decided to do away with those laws. Like most other ultra-liberals, the gov feels junkies are simply poor people in need of rehabilitation, coddling, understanding, and all the other touchy-feely things liberals love to bestow on societies predators. (even the Social Security Administration has made drug use a "disability", thus giving junkies your tax money every month!) To NY's junkies and dealers, the gov's action will mark an historic event, one that they will celebrate. Maybe they'll name their next shipment of Heroin after him.
Believe me, of all the creatures who occupy Gods good earth, junkies are the least deserving of "touchy-feely" treatment. They have but one goal, to get high, and there's "nothing" they won't say or do to accomplish that. Lie. Rob. Kill. Nothing! Those who have someone, or know of someone who has a serious drug problem know exactly what i'm talking about.
Now, thanks to the blind guy, and the other ultra-liberal Demoncrats who totally control NY's politics, drug use in NY will become almost legal, because junkies will see this as a legalization of their habits. The Police will be (quietly and "unofficially") told to "lay-off". In a year from now, the Leftist NYC media will make the gov's move seem as though this was the greatest thing since slice bread. In other words, they will lie. As usual, the real losers are the law-abiding people of NY, especially in NYC where the majority of drug crimes occur. In the bizarro world, where liberals live, this will be seen as a compassionate thing. In the real world, where the rest of us live, this will be seen for what it is, an act of insanity and incredible stupidity, by a political hack who's 15 minutes are just about up...

F.Y.I. WARNING
Tuesday , October 06, 2009
The scale of the phishing attack on Hotmail could stretch further than first thought, with accounts on Google and Yahoo now threatened.
Microsoft confirmed on Monday that the popular email site had been the target of a scam which tricked users into revealing their passwords. This led to around 10,000 passwords being posted online.
The computer company said their servers were not responsible for the security breach and that individuals had been conned into handing over their details. But it has been reported that more lists have also been circulated with genuine account information relating to email on Google, Yahoo, Comcast and Earthlink, as well as other third-party web mail services.
Neil O'Neil, an ethical hacker and digital forensics investigator at secure payments specialist The Logic Group, said up to a million passwords could have been accessed. "Making the breach public so soon after the attack occurred has allowed unethical hackers to access the passwords very easily, even though they were deleted a couple of days ago at the request of Microsoft," he explained. "People tend to have the same password across many accounts — so there is a good chance that individuals have also compromised the integrity of their ebay or paypal accounts too. "The list went through A and B, so you would think whoever released these has more. And if you do the maths, they could have more than a million passwords."
Hackers and cybercriminals attempt to trick people into handing over personal details, including email addresses and passwords. Internet users may be directed to false websites, set up to mirror legitimate websites, that feed information back to the criminals. News of the scam broke when technology blog neowin.net reported an anonymous user had published confidential details on pastebin.com. Internet users are urged to change their passwords regularly and ensure anti-virus software is up to date to protect themselves from fraudsters.
A Microsoft spokesman said: "We are aware that some Windows Live Hotmail customers' credentials were acquired illegally by a phishing scheme and exposed on a website." They added that they requested the details be removed from the internet and they launched an immediate investigation. The company are also taking measures to block the accounts which were hit.
A spokesman for Google said they were aware that some gmail accounts had been part of the phishing scam and said — while their servers were not responsible — they had taken steps to ensure security.
And a spokesman for Yahoo said they take great effort to protect their users' security and that they urge consumers to take measures to secure their accounts whenever possible, including changing their passwords.

This is the UN-story of the day.
.
Why is that Schteveo, you might ask. Because it was THE story of the day, this time last year, when some elementary school kids reported a coyote had taken their LUNCH BAGS while the kids horsed around at the bus stop.
.
Coyote population steadily rising in N.C.
.
If you think it's not a true UN-story, look at the date on the picture.

.
Schteve says "BEEP BEEP!!"
.
Hmmm, was Personal Freedom on the Criteria List?
This kind of left-wing, liberal-socialist, BS is why the UN has become USE-LESS in the world forum. And not surprisingly, I cannot find the actual criteria list anywhere on AL Gores internet. I can find Britney Spears beaver, and the length of Churchill's...cigar, but the UNDP Criteria List for ranking countries is NOT AVAILABLE? As Basil Rathbone oft said to Nigel Bruce, "Odd that, eh Watson?"
.
Norway takes the number one spot in the annual United Nations human development index released Monday but China has made the biggest strides in improving the well-being of its citizens.
The index compiled by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) ranks 182 countries based on such criteria as life expectancy, literacy, school enrolment and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita.
Norway, Australia and Iceland took the first three spots while Niger ranks at the very bottom, just below Afghanistan.
China moved up seven places on the list to rank as the 92nd most developed country due to improvements in education as well as income levels and life expectancy.
.
I'd love to see this list. I'm betting it's got questions like, "Do you STILL beat your wife?" or more to the point, "Does your country STILL act unilaterally or do they defer to US, the all important UN first?"
.
As much as I hate to agree with people like Moamar K'daffy, or that South American socialist weirdoid Chavez, I'd like to see the United Nations moved out of NYC. Let some other country worry over, protect and PAY FOR the basic operation of the UN.

Remember This The Next Time You Vote
From wheelchairs and walkers to orthopedic shoes and needles, Medicare buys tens of thousands of products every day for elderly Americans. And as the single largest buyer of medical products, you'd think it would at leastget a volume discount. But it doesn't. In fact, Medicare doesn't even get the best price. According to their own auditors, Medicare knowingly overpays for almost everything it buys. Examples include:
-- $7,215 to rent an oxygen concentrator, when the purchase price is $600.
-- $4,018 for a standard wheelchair, while the private sector pays $1,048.
-- $1,825 for a hospital bed, compared to an Internet price of $1,071.
-- $3,335 for a respiratory pump, versus an advertised price of $1,987.
-- $82 for a diabetic supply kit, instead of a $47 price on the Web.
Last year, the Health and Human Services Department tried to replace its archaic fixed-price fee schedule for 10 commonly purchased products with a competitive bidding program in 10 cities. The department said the program could save Medicare $125 million in a single year, or $1 billion if adopted nationwide. But Congress stepped in to stop it.
"There were products that we had as much as 75 percent savings. The average was 29 percent," said Mike Leavitt, the former HHS secretary who oversaw the program. "It would have saved billions if we could've actually implemented it, but Congress deferred it. In Washington speak, that means we put it off forever," he said. Leavitt blames Congressmen Pete Stark (D-Calif.) and Dave Camp (R-Mich.) for introducing legislation that terminated the contracts and postponed the program for 18 months. Leavitt says the congressional intervention helps explain why many are suspicious of claims that Washington can cut enough waste to actually pay for health care reform, as President Obama told a joint session of Congress last month.
"Reducing the waste and inefficiency in Medicare and Medicaid will pay for most of this plan," Leavitt said.
"The problem here is one man's waste is another man's living, and whenever there is an effort put forward to actually make an efficiency, someone goes on the offensive and hires lobbyists and does what they can to constrain Congress from doing it," Leavitt said.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the health care industry is currently spending $2 million a day lobbying Congress. Leavitt's pilot program died after small business suppliers claimed it would have put them out of business. Eventually, industry agreed to help pay the cost of terminated contracts that Medicare had already negotiated.
Industry officials argued the new system would unfairly disqualify some suppliers, and others with little experience would get the business, causing a decline in quality and service.

And You Wonder Why We're Broke?
At a time when this country is literally broke, one of the very first acts of a new president "who claimed" to want to fix the economy, should have been to immediately cease ALL foreign aid! Giving away your wealth, especially to your enemies, when you can't pay your own debts, when tens-of-millions of your own people are unemployed, when the largest corporations we have are going under, when one of our deadliest enemies owns more of this country than we do, is to me a sure sign of gross stupidity and insanity. It also shows a monumental lack of respect for the fools who pay those taxes. The only way to get the elected crooks to stop stealing, wasting, and giving away our money, is to stop giving it to them!

Your Kids; Are They Really Yours?
Here in Amerika, that would seem like a no-brainer, right? Not so fast. Now that we seem to be on a path to becoming a country with a totalitarian government that is taking total control over every single aspect of our lives, the answer to the above question is no longer clear.
In far too many school districts around the country, school "administrators" (see: indoctrination camp commandants) see themselves as law-making bodies answerable to no one. They make "rules" which they see as being above personal rights, above parental rights, and in many cases, above real laws and even the Constitution! This is exactly how the minor, irrelevant little govt. bureaucrats acted in Hitler's Germany.
The story in this article is not some big, earth-shattering headline that would get the country's attention. But it is an example, another example, of what's being done to our country, our liberty, and especially, to our children. Parents no longer have control (or any say) over what their kids are being taught or exposed to. Schools now routinely tell their students what they can, or can't do, even while those kids are not in school or on school property! It seems clear that radical Left-wing teachers unions have far-more to say as to what your children are taught, and how, than do parents. If this is where this country's going, (or being taken) then, IMO, it's time we started using all that ammo we've been buying.
If a parent doesn't have the right to raise their own child, then just what rights do they have? And do any other rights even matter...

CHICAGO, Fri Oct 02, 11:59 AM
Thousands of people are standing in stunned silence in downtown Chicago after watching the International Olympic Committee choose someone else for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The vote in Copenhagen was carried on huge television screens in the Daley Center, set up to carry what many had hoped would be approval of Chicago to host the games.
Instead, Chicago was bounced in the first round of voting Friday, bringing an audible gasp heard from the crowd.
The city was eliminated so quickly that some of the would-be revelers weren't sure what had happened. Some started asking if they had heard what they thought they heard. "I've never really had a disappointment like this," said Ken Rudd, a 33-year-old salesman from Evergreen Park. "This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen." Many stood for a few minutes, staring at the screen, and at least one flung his hands into the air in a crude gesture toward the TV screen. Within seconds, people began filing out of the plaza.
Chicago was in a race with Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo and Madrid for the 2016 games.
Nice try Barry!!
The GOP is in bigger trouble than I thought
I never got the memo, but according to "Politico", John McCain is the all but titular head of the Republican Party. That's not the worst of it. He is remaking the party in his own (twisted) image.
.
Yep, as the Dems go further to the left, this jackass thinks the thing to do is move to the center. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're on the right, and move toward the center, isn't that a LEFTWARD move?
