Five Somali pirates who released a Saudi supertanker have drowned with their share of a reported £2 million ransom after their escape boat capsized.

Residents and pirates in the Somali port of Haradhere told the Associated Press that the boat, which was carrying eight men, overturned in a storm after dozens of pirates left the Sirius Star following a two-month standoff in the Gulf of Aden.
Three of the eight pirates managed to swim to shore but five were believed to have drowned.

Too important for just a cut and dry Yes or No

I was just watching Glen Beck on Bill O'Reilly's show. O'Reilly is SURPRISED that Beck hopes Obama does well as President.

Beck, certainly, gave the caveat that if Obama does poorly, the country will suffer. If he does well then it follows that the country will do well. I agree with Beck, O'Reilly doesn't buy the sentiment. O'Reilly even said he had a Poll going, "...go out to billoreilly.com, and take the poll."

I went out and looked at the poll. It's says,

let me say from the get go that I am as open minded as anyone. I truly believe in free speech. I took an oath to protect free speech and will continue to do so. I think everyone should be afforded an open forum for their views.
However, I think the experiment with HLF has run it's course.
Whoever this person is, has no truth or objectivity in their comments. They are abusive and insulting. The constant attacks and snarking are too, too much. I believe that with free speech comes responsibility. This person shows no awareness of that being a necessity in society.

Victory?
Obama's Victory;
A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups.
A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.
A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.
Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshipers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.
A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.
A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.............. Congratulations America!

Man killed in break-in
Amarillo is in the news again. The Castle Doctrine should apply.
The owner of an Amarillo home that had been burglarized several times in the past few weeks shot an intruder Wednesday morning who then stumbled outside, fell and died in the front yard.
"If in fact, once Special Crimes has completed their investigation, and if they determine it was an event where the deceased had come on to the other person's property and evidence shows that they were attempting to commit a crime on their property, the Castle Doctrine will apply," Farren said.

It’s difficult to work up much sympathy for Jeff Jagodzinski, who was Boston College’s football coach until he was canned Wednesday for defying orders – in this case interviewing for the head coaching position of the New York Jets.
The man brazenly brushed off authority and paid for it.

Having, on two occasions, been placed in this exact position myself, I did what the Coach did. Both times, I wound up leaving the original employer.

See, I have a funny way of thinking, I think the Emancipation Declaration applies to everyone in this country. And I'm certain, having checked, that telling an employee that they aren't allowed to look for another job is just like telling them they can't try to form a union.

Protests over BART shooting turn violent

A protest over the fatal shooting by a BART police officer of an unarmed man mushroomed into several hours of violence Wednesday night as demonstrators smashed storefronts and cars, set several cars ablaze and blocked streets in downtown Oakland.
The roving mob expressed fury at police and frustration over society's racial injustice. Yet the demonstrators were often indiscriminate, frequently targeting the businesses and prized possessions of people of color.
They smashed a hair salon, a pharmacy and several restaurants. Police in riot gear tried to control the crowd, but some people retreated along 14th Street and bashed cars along the way.
The mob smashed the windows at Creative African Braids on 14th Street, and a woman walked out of the shop holding a baby in her arms.
"This is our business," shouted Leemu Topka, the black owner of the salon she started four years ago. "This is our shop. This is what you call a protest?"

"I feel like the night is going great," said Nia Sykes, 24, of San Francisco, one of the demonstrators. "I feel like Oakland should make some noise. This is how we need to fight back. It's for the murder of a black male."
Sykes, who is black, had little sympathy for the owner of Creative African Braids. "She should be glad she just lost her business and not her life," Sykes said.

The core group of the mob appeared to be about 40 people, several of whom were with Revolution Books, a Berkeley bookstore. A man distributed the "Revolution" newspaper - whose tagline is "voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party, U.S.A." - as he shouted "This whole damn system is guilty!"
Surely the Office of the President Elect will step in with free cheese and calm his brothers and sisters.

Take A Number And Get In Line
So here's the question for today. What happens when the word gets out that someone is giving free money away? And when that someone is Uncle Sam, just about everybody knows that it will not only be free money, but easy money, like in, we won't ever have to pay it back. Here's my sob story, now where's my cash! The hundreds of Billions that have been given away to Wall St. and Detroit have absolutely no strings attached. They don't have to tell anyone what they're doing, or plan to do, with our money. And because of that fact, the line of "moochers" is growing longer by the day. In fact, as this story illustrates, it's now becoming an obvious insult to taxpayers.
I predict that before this mess is over, assuming it will be over, just about everybody will get their piece of this massive new welfare program. Everybody that is, except the people who's money is being given away. That's you and me! The United Suckers of Amerika!
Here's another question. Do you believe the American people have a breaking point, and if so, what is it?

Theism vs. Atheism, the battle of the religions
Yes, I said religions, as in, plural. First, the definition of religion, as per my Microsoft Outlook “look up” function (the authority, I’m told, on all things linguistic):
“people's beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature, and worship of a deity or deities, and divine involvement in the universe and human life”
The statement “there is no God” takes just as much faith as the statement “There is a God,” as neither are provable hypotheses. Atheism is a religion, as it is a BELIEF system founded on the FAITH that there is no God. It is a religion that is against religion, which sort of sounds funny and laughable, when you reason it out a bit, but a religion it is, none the less.
The only person on Earth who is not taking a leap of faith, whatsoever, and who is also the only one arriving at a perfectly LOGICAL conclusion devoid of faith and belief, is the guy who says “I don’t know, it is beyond me to know, and I am open to both the existence, or non-existence, of a God.” However, you don’t see this guy ridiculing the faithful, both believers and non-believers, do you?
So why all of the snide remarks, smart-assed comments, and general feeling of superiority coming from folks in the atheist crowd whenever the subject of religion comes up? Is their faith that there is no God so much more noble and logical than a faith that there is one? I see atheists ranting on about logic this, and truth that, but their beliefs are not based on a logical conclusion, and they have no way of determining what the truth is, despite their claims.
Does anyone disagree with what I have written here? If so, I’d be interested to listen to what you have to say.

Readers are reporting that a pack of dead coyotes has been strung along a fence on RM 12 between San Marcos and Wimberley.
Such a sight may be shocking to residents of bedroom communities in the area, but it is an old practice that farmers and ranchers used to warn others that predators are in the area, said Bryan Davis, a Hays County agriculture and natural resource agent.
Jimbo says bullshit! The reason you hang a dead coyote on your fence is to show off to your neighbor. It's a "lookie-here! I got one!" statement, not a "predator warning". Everyone knows they're there - they're ALWAYS there! I think this agricultural and natural resource agent must be a city boy who's been fed a line and swallowed it.

Given the following information, I would like for you to provide a judgment call on who is in the right and who is in the wrong here:
Given: Two countries who are at odds with each other. Both are legitimate, both have governments, etc and are recognized as countries by the United Nation, the United States, or any other reasonable metric one can assume. Lets call them Country A and Country B.
Given: Country A and Country B signed a peace agreement about a decade ago, which guaranteed that neither country would commit aggressive acts towards the other, nor would either country overtly or covertly support enemies of the other country.
Given: Country B received the peace accords amongst accolades and cheers, and has lived up to the conditions in those accords to the letter. They have enjoyed this decade of peace, and have made no moves, whatsoever, to breach this peace accord. Country A, on the other hand, held elections soon after this accord was signed, and its citizens elected by popular vote, a regime that was known for, and who’s sole purpose in existing is, to destroy and make war on Country B. As soon as they were elected, mere months after the accords were signed, they began to commit hostile acts against Country B, by launching rockets into Country B’s civilian enclaves (no, they were not targeting military installations) and killing, by all accounts, about 30 of Country B’s citizens over an 8 year period.
Given: Country B lived under more or less constant sporadic bombardment by Country A over the period of almost a decade, and took no actions other than diplomatic, to stop such action.
Given: The wording of the peace accolade specifically states that upon breach of that accolade (ie, a hostile act) the assailed country had the right to respond to those attacks in order to provide for it’s defense.
Is Country B justified in invading Country A to stop the attacks? Are their actions to be considered war crimes? Should the commanders of Country B’s military be held to account for war crimes in front of a military tribunal?
How can so many people so badly misread a situation and think that Israel (er, I mean, Country B) is the aggressor here? I have seen so many explanations by leftists, mainly, as to why they feel as though Israel is in the wrong. I’ll list a few:
1.) Israel’s response is disproportionate. They’ve killed hundreds, while the rocket attacks only killed about 30.
My response: How many Israelis must die before they can do something? What would you have them do? Set up rocket launchers on the border and launch only one rocket in return for every rocket fired? That is proportionate, but it would accomplish nothing. Rocket attacks would intensify, rocket technology would get better, and eventually, they would be pounding each other into the dirt, killing innocent civilians indiscriminately (as I assume the term “rocket” implies dumb, unguided munition, as opposed to “missile”) and causing untold horror and damage to the people of both countries. How would you like to live for a decade or more never sure when the Qassam is going to hit your house, or kil you children as they play in the schoolyard? No, a disproportionate response is the only response that will accomplish anything. A guy breaks into your house, and pulls a knife on you. You pull a gun. Disproportionate? Hell yes. But good policy if you wish to avoid giving your opponent and equal chance at killing you, and getting dragged into a horrible, bloody knife fight.
2.) Israel is killing innocent civilians.
My response: A horrible result of the elected government of Gaza having made the decision to start a fight with them, not a result of Israel’s bloodthirsty desire to kill civilians. Coupled with and made worse by the fact that HAMAS seems to love caching weapons in school gymnasiums, and setting up their command posts under daycare buildings, I see the civilian casualties as HAMAS’ crime, not Israel’s. Also, keep in mind that HAMAS has killed more Palestinians with their rockets than they have Israelis. I saw a stat that suggested that over 2,000 Palestinians have been injured by misfired or malfunctioning rockets that landed in Gaza instead of making it to Israel. If HAMAS really gave a crap about it’s innocents, then they would have stopped doing this, but they did not.
3.) Palestine is a small, nascent nation, and Israel is a big, powerful bully.
My response: The fact that it is easy to paint Palestine as the victim and Israel as the aggressor based simply upon their relative power and military might does not change the fact that Palestine attacked Israel, not the other way around. I liken this to a Chihuahua biting at a Rottweiler’s heels. It doesn’t hurt the Rottweiler for the most part; the biting is merely an annoyance. At first. Eventually, the Rottweiler tires of the Chihuahua’s antics, because even tiny bites eventually start to hurt when enough are applied, and soundly routes him, sending him ki-ying off to find solace in the master’s comforting pets. This entire line of liberal thought is about as fair as that master then punishing the Rottweiler for doing what he did. The Chihuahua wouldn’t have stopped if the Rottweiler asked him nicely. He wouldn’t have stopped if the Rottweiler growled at him angrily. He only stopped when the Rottweiler gave him an ass-kicking and sent him off to lick his wounds. This is exactly what is happening here. Israel is not a bully. They’ve shown remarkable restraint for about 8 years now, doing nothing in the name of maintaining peace.
But enough is enough. How this is hard to understand will never cease to surprise me. Israel is not doing anything wrong. If Mexico started lobbing rockets into Arizona, you can bet your ass we’d be in there by this weekend, with every one of the folks decrying Israel’s actions screaming bloody murder about how long it took to respond. I’ll bet if it was their children at risk of being bombed, or their families that were under constant fear of rocket attack for a decade, that every one of them would be outraged and want it to stop by any means necessary.
