The ongoing attacks on Sarah Palin simply prove how much the Left fears her. You can bet they'll demonize her right up until the 2012 election. Personally, if she decides to run, she's got my vote.
If she does decide to run she'll force the Democrats (and the media) to go to full battle stations, (thereby draining their resources) and stay there until the election is over.
