Well, this SUCKS!!! It sucks big monkey stuff!!

Beck to ‘Transition Off’ Daily TV Program
.
Fox News and Mercury Radio Arts, Glenn Beck’s production company, are proud to announce that they will work together to develop and produce a variety of television projects for air on the Fox News Channel as well as content for other platforms including Fox News’ digital properties. Glenn intends to transition off of his daily program, the third highest rated in all of cable news, later this year.

Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of Fox News said, “Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody’s standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Glenn Beck said: “I truly believe that America owes a lot to Roger Ailes and Fox News. I cannot repay Roger for the lessons I’ve learned and will continue to learn from him and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership.”

Joel Cheatwood, SVP/Development at Fox News, will be joining Mercury Radio Arts effective April 24, 2011. Part of his role as EVP will be to manage the partnership and serve as a liaison with the Fox News Channel.

Roger Ailes said: “Joel is a good friend and one of the most talented and creative executives in the business. Over the past four years I have consistently valued his input and advice and that will not stop as we work with him in his new role.”

“Glenn Beck” is consistently the third highest rated program on cable news. For the 27 months that “Glenn Beck” has aired on Fox News, the program has averaged more than 2.2 million total viewers and 563,000 viewers 25-54 years old, numbers normally associated with shows airing in prime time, not at 5pm. “Glenn Beck” has dominated all of its cable news competitors since launch.

.
I'm going to miss THIS hour of my day, I'll tell you. Beck has been a clarion for Americanism and Americans. One of damned few that I currently know of.

I can't wait to see the 'news' from the MSM about this. It'll be all about his 'failure'.

I only discovered the Beck show about a year ago. And i quickly became a fan, but i've noticed changes in him in that year which may account for the drop in viewers. He has gone from simply informing and giving his political opinions, (most of which i agree with) to lecturing and preaching. When he started saying things like, "only God can save the country", and "the way for us to defeat the Left is by loving each other and being kind" he totally lost me, and perhaps, a whole lot of other people. If i wanted to hear a preacher giving a lecture i'd tune into the Prayer Channel. He also seems to have a "fascination" (obsession?) with MLK, something i'm not sure i understand.

He's also constantly going on about how he predicted most of the violent events in the world today. Maybe those of you who have watched him longer than i know this to be true? Or, does he think of himself as another Nostradamus. I can't say for sure.

I also thought he might be leaving because he may be stepping on too many big political toes. I don't know if the powers-that-be at Fox would cave like that, but with these people you never know. Then there's his health (eyes) issue. Is that what's making him leave? I don't know that either.

At first, i thought Beck might be a replacement for Limbaugh, who's bloated ego i found at times annoying. But it turns out, Beck is no Limbaugh.

Maybe he's going to run against bahamarama

Spider,
he did predict much of this this stuff, and he has been doing so for a couple of years. If you're uncomfortable with that term, he certainly started reporting it, and having the people who did predict it on his shows in the years in question. At a minimum, he predicted all this commie / socialist / unions thing 6 months ago AND look how dead on he was about the riots and shit in N. Africa and the EU spreading out.

I think it's hysterical that the MSM and the people calling him a nut, are the very ones doing exactly what he says they are GOING to do. The video of Fox-Piven saying she didn't call for a revolution, then CALLING FOR A REVOLUTION in the same video puts the ball securely in his court.

I think his call to look to God is more of a call for a return to traditional American, family values. He wants the Right-Wing to NOT be out there calling for blood in the streets, like the left is currently doing at every turn. You either believe God shined on this country or He didn't, Beck and many of us believe that.

We used to be able to say God in public, put up religious images in public, have a Christmas display, and even say a prayer in school!!

(oddly, ain't nobody taking ALLAH outta schools I've noticed!)

I think it's not a bad thing. We were plenty free and happy, before Janet Jackson shower her titty on TV, before Twitney Spears shaved her head, Madonna humped the stage, going ALL the way back to Teddy 'The Swimmer' Kennedy drowning a poor dumb girl, blah, blah, blah...we were plenty free and happy when we HAD some national sense of morality, some sense of moral outrage at people like John Edwards, Charlie Sheen, et al. There was a time when people like OBAMA in calling for a FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE in the way we run America would have been shouted down, and run off the political forefront, not elected. There was a time when we HAD a national morality and sense of outrage and THAT comes from a belief in something bigger than ourselves,IMHO.

And Beck just wants to see us return to THAT America, the one he grew up in. I can't say that I disagree with that at all.

wrong button alert...I was still typing...

I think people quit watching GBTV because it's hard to listen to and some of it is hard to know. My brother and I talked about the 'normalcy bias' years ago, and how it keeps people from seeing or listening truth. And in watching him and listening to him, I keep hearing things I already believe, I don't get co-opted by it.

I've gotten to where I can't listen to Limbaugh any more. His whole act is now ME, ME, ME, I, I, I!!!

He never references anyone except to say THEY agree with him. Seriously?

He takes 3 or 4 two minute calls in 3 hours, and fills the rest of the time massaging his ego. He quit doing all his updates and the stuff that made him famous, long, long ago.

Boring.

Listening to the radio show? I think he's going to announce his decision to MOVE physically away from the NYC area ASAP. I wondered about that.

Why would he tell everyone to NOT be in the cities, yet stay there, with his family and employees, himself?

Steve, you're right about Limbaugh. I feel the same way.

As for GB, if he's been on-target with his predictions, (and i don't mind that word) great. And yes, i'm aware that many of them are now coming true.

As we know, we are involved in a vicious, fight-to-the-death culture war with the Left, and it seems they have no intention of backing down. If we lose, we'll end up as socialist worker ants owned by the State, even more than we already are. God is not going to change that. Only we can change that, because it's we that caused it. And, IMHO, we won't change it by loving each other and being kind, not against an enemy as vicious as the radical Left. Thinking that way will simply make their victory easier.

You mention the changes that have taken place in our society, such as what we can say, eat, drink, how people look down on God, etc. Being a bit older than you, i notice it even more. But again, that happened because WE allowed it to happen, and all the love and kindness in the world won't change it back. If we can change it back, it'll come from "very" hard fighting on our part, assuming there's that much will left in us. I wonder.

I think Beck's intentions are coming from a good place within him. I have no doubt he's a fine man, with many good ideas. He also has the courage to get on national TV and name names of the evil ones of the Left, something even Limbaugh doesn't do. But in this vicious war we're in, where there's so much at stake, i don't want to follow a weeping preacher, or the history professor, or the lecturer, or the guy constantly pimping his web site, his personal appearences, his books and T-shirts. I want to follow a fighter, and IMHO, he ain't it.

I think you are misreading his message.

He's willing to fight, but he doesn't want anyone to be able to say, or prove, that WE, the mostly white, right-wing, Christian, Tea Party people started it. Personally, I think he'd rip off somebody's head and shit down their wind pipe if it needed doing. Especially if his family, friends or employees are being threatened.

I think he's preaching AGAINST any of US, on the right, using 'preemptive' actions to get our way. I agree. I'm an avowed defensivist. 'They' can act crazy over 'there', even if there is across the street not just across the pond, but if YOU come in MY yard or start to cause ME or mine trouble, I'll be the guy doing he ripping and shitting.

And right now, we're very close to that tipping point. I think Beck's headed to TX. He's spent an awful lot of time talking about TX being like America used to be.

We've got some friends who went to TX and they love it.

I sense Beck will have even more relevance in his future endeavors with Fox. He is to committed to take on a lesser role. I think the format will change, the frequency decrease, but the message will remain powerful. Best of luck to him.

rg,
I think he's going to run some stuff on his Fox 'specials' that will make John Stossel look like a New Deal Democrat!

The truth shall set you free.
