Why Carry a Gun?
My old grandpa said to me "Son, there comes a time in every
man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and
usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin..."
I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil
in the world..
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my
life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my
bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to
be a cowboy.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves
and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I
am inadequate....
I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it
meaningful to me.
Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime (after) it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.
"Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too
old to take an "ass" whoopin".....author unknown (but obviously
brilliant)

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917,
1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up
and exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945,
a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend
themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20
million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were
rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------

-----------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th
Century because of gun control: 56 million.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear
politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding
citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please
remind them of this history lesson. With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'. During WW II the Japanese decided not to invade America
because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
"The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense.
The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more
important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental."

Glad you posted this Spider. It pretty much rounds it up for me.
Below is a letter from a U.S. Marine. It reminds us of why they are the very best America has...
To Senator Dianne Feinstein,
"I will not register my weapons should your bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.
You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.
I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.
I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.
I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.
We, the people, deserve better than you..."
Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston

How about some facts;
(Breitbart) According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.
This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats' feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.
However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.
Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.
And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.
For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.
While the FBI makes is clear that some of the "murder by rifle" numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein's dreaded rifle.
Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.
The bottom line: A rifle ban is as illogical as it is unconstitutional. We face far greater danger from individuals armed with carpenters' tools and a caveman's stick.
And it seems fairly obvious that if more people had a gun, less people would be inclined to try to hit them in the head with a hammer.
Son, you're going to drive me to drinkin,
If'n you don't stop drivin dat

I'd like to put a list out of every govt liberal, where they live, what kind of car and license number, where all their relatives live and what times they go and where.
Works for me Anon.
Did you see that Ann Coulter wants to print the pubic record of ay women who get gub'ment funded abortions?
I saw the hammer thing to. we had a guy here in NC recently who had spent 12 or 13 years in jail for killing one of his HS buds with a hammer, while they were all drunk, playing cards for money. He took the hammer from his fathers garage and had to break in to get it.
Sounds premeditated to me. but because he was a teenager the judge / jury felt sorry fr him.
He was out of prison less than a year before he killed ANOTHER guy, while they were drinking and playing poker for pocket change. His weapon of choice?
A hammer.
One he stole from Wal-Mart. He walked 3 or 4 miles to Wally World, 3 or 4 miles back to the illegal gambling house, started a huge fight and killed the guy he thought was cheating him. Again, sounds plenty premeditated to me.
Just the 6 to 8 mile walk would have sobered up most people. S any, "...I was jez' too drunk to know WTF I wuz doin'!", defense is bupkass IMHO.

Well, why don't you? It's all at your fingertips.
I did a quick search the other day while there was a gun discussion on a veteran's blog.
I discovered an interesting fact, although now I don't recall actual numbers
From 2005: approximately 6,300 deaths from fire arms, 55% were self induced (suicides)
2005: approximately 10,400 deaths caused by drunk drivers, they didn't break down how many were self induced.
I notice that nearly 300% more deaths are caused by combining gasoline and alcohol than by combining lead with sulfur, charcoal and salt peter.
Yet, we don't hear nearly as much of a call to eliminate access to cars and alcohol. Just a thought.
