It seems the talking heads of the Left are pushing the Marxist-in-Chief to get involved in Libya, not simply with words, but with action. And by action they mean sending more of our warriors to fight someone else's battles, a very odd (and rare) position for the Left to take. But, there are anti-government protesters in the streets, and that always excites the Left. I actually heard some of the cretins on MSNBC saying, "well, not military action, just enforcing a no-fly zone." Apparently, they think enforcing a no-fly zone in a hostile, foreign country is done by civilians. They also don't seem to realize that enforcing that zone would require dropping bombs on air fields and anti-aircraft sites, and firing missiles at planes and radar sites. Of course, what they're not talking about is, what will happen to the first pilot who happens to kill a few civilians, something that is impossible to avoid in combat. Also not mentioned is the fact that doing so, is an act of war.
Personally, as someone who was/is very much against our warriors going to, and continuing to be in Iraq, and someone who believes Afghanistan could have been dealt with via air-power alone, i am totally against sending any part of our military into Libya. It's none of our business! We have no special interest there. They supply 2% of the worlds oil, with almost all of it going to the ChiComs. Let them send their planes. As for what's going on there, it's now a civil war. It's their problem! Let them handle it! No matter what action we take, or for that matter, don't take, we'll end up being the bad guys, as usual. In that case, let's be the bad guys who were smart enough (this time) to save our money and young men, and stay out of it!
What say you...

State Politics and Economics
Example 1, CALIFORNIA
The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the Governor.
1. The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
2. He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
3. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.
4. The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
5. The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
6. The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "coyote awareness program" for residents of the area.
7. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
8. The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The State spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re: the nature of coyotes.
9. PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the State.
Example 2. MONTANA
The Governor of Montana is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A Coyote jumps out and attacks her dog.
1. The Governor shoots the coyote with his State-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
2. The Buzzards eat the dead coyote.
And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Montana is not.

You Know You're In A Union When,
Top ten ways to tell if you might be a member of a public-sector union: By David Letterman:
10.) You take a week off to protest in Wisconsin and your office runs better.
9.) On a snow day when they say “non-essential” people should stay homeyou know who they mean.
8.) You get paid twice as much as a private sector person doing the samejob but make up the difference by doing half as much work.
7.) It takes longer to fire you than the average killer spends on death row.
6.) The worse you do your job, the more your boss avoids you.
5.) You think the French are working themselves to death.
4.) You know by having a copy of the Holy Koran on your desk your job is 100% safe.
3.) You spend more time at protest marches than at church.
2.) You have a Democratic congressman’s lips permanently attached to your butt.
1.) You pay more in union dues than you do for your healthcare insurance.

What if...
...it's the year 195?, after several years of minor BS, an Catholic Irish group flies planes into the Pentagon, the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Building, setting them on fire and killing several thousand people. A fourth plane goes down on Pennsylvania killing all on board.
.
Over the next 10 years, the Irish Catholic group continues to blow things up, kill people, including Irish Catholics AND manage to radicalize young Catholic males and start a worldwide campaign to create a worldwide ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, to be run by THE POPE!!
.
John F, KENNEDY, who is an Irish Catholic, is President. Kennedy and his Cabinet over the first two years of his Presidency REFUSE to call it a concerted, active worldwide terrorist campaign, and refuse to BY NAME accuse or say the IRISH CATHOLICS are TERRORISTS or that they are THE problem in the world!!
.
Just how long do you suppose the MSM would have backed him or kissed his ASS on a daily basis!?
.
Hell move that UP and put Bush back in there and have ANY Christians do that!! Put Bill O Rights in there and make them Jewish or Israelis!
.
Given that, would THIS protest have been allowed or carried on the NATIONAL media!? There IS a collusion of the MSM and these terrorists, IMHO, when the MSM makes it a NATIONAL news story when 300 hundred people protest in a city of THIRTEEN MILLION!? That's a protest by 200ths of 1% of the population. too weird a number?
.
There are 9676 people in this little town I live in now. 200th of 1% of 9676 is not even ONE full person here. But we'll round up.
.
IF ONE, WHOLE, ENTIRE person showed up at the courthouse here to protest against "X", "Y" or "Z", would that "protest" make even the local area TV news? No, and it sure as hell wouldn't be on the NATIONAL news!

So, this is what the big fuss is about in Madison
I thought this e-mail was BS, until I looked around and found that it's from public records in Wisconsin. NC has a similar system for people to search gub'ment employee salaries.
(that's how we found out Mrs Schteveo is getting uh, um...probed!!)
---------------------------------------------------
No wonder they are marching in the streets - their unions have taken advantage of the political system in a huge way and will continue to do so unless stopped.

(source:Madison.com -as the UW removed salaries from being posted online in 2007- why if they are so low?)
How about some other "public servant job" ??? What do they make?
Madison Garbage men (2009) (salary only):

AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO CONTINUE PAYING 100% OF THEIR GENEROUS RETIREMENT? THEY HAVE SHUT DOWN SCHOOLS AS THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY 5.8% OF IT THEMSELVES ....REALLY?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Yet another case of greed, greed, greed from DEMOCRATS!!! I hope they fire the lying teachers they caught on film getting fake 'sick notes' from a doctor. Maybe the rest of those jerks would get the message then.
.
And BTW, that garbageman who made $110K in O/T, I did the math. His base salary is $50K. That makes O/T rates for him, regular O/T is $36 per hr, D/T is $48 per hr. He would have had to work about 75 to 85 hours per week, with NO vacation time to make that much O/T pay.
.
OR.
.
He is one of those areas that pay D/T PLUS several hundred tax payers dollars per day if you work all those Federal Holiday Mondays, Christmas Eve, etc, etc. But seriously, should anyone make $500 or $600 in a DAY for collecting garbage JUST because it's a holiday?
.
I don't begrudge anyone their HONEST earnings. But I did technical, dangerous work sometimes in my career and I NEVER made $48 an hour!!

Historically Challenged Journalists (hmm...is that redundant?)
From the historically challenged folks at "Time".
.
A Union Divided: South Split on U.S. Civil War Legacy
.
In 1867, former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest became the first Grand Wizard of a newly formed organization called the Ku Klux Klan. Forrest had been a slave trader before the Civil War; he was also the commanding officer during a battle known as the "Fort Pillow massacre" in Tennessee at which some 300 black Union troops were killed in 1864. (Whether they died in combat or were killed after they surrendered is still a matter of dispute.)
Now, in honor of the Civil War's 150th anniversary, the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) are seeking to put Forrest on a Mississippi license plate. But the state government opposes it. When asked to comment on the proposal, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, a Republican, told the Associated Press, "It won't become law because I won't sign it."
.
This article left out some HUGE points of history.
.
First it was a small number of southerners who actually owned slaves. The Confederacy drafted many more soldiers than ever volunteered. The great majority just wanted to get the 'damned Yankees' off of southern soil and that's why they fought.
.
(when GWB was President, what would you have done, fight the enemy or sit still if we'd been physically invaded by an army? remember how pissed off you were on 9/11? THAT's the feeling!!)
.
Next, Nathan Bedford Forrest was a DEMOCRAT before the war, it was DEMOCRATS who ran the slavery south, it was DEMOCRATS who voted to secede, it was DEMOCRATS who fought against civil rights and it was DEMOCRATS who put the Confederate Battle Flag over Southern Statehouses as a sign of the Old South being alive during the civil rights era, the Klan was a DEMOCRAT group and where it exists it's DEMOCRATS in the ranks!!
(even non-klan southerners didn't like Republicans and still don't)
But the article did mention it's a REPUBLICAN refusing to sign the bill, now. Good for you Guv BTW!
My experience tells me that a good southern DEMOCRAT would have slid the license tag bill in under some other PRESSING legislation that was just too important to veto. Then the DEMOCRATS would have blamed George Bush for the whole mess!!! See, I know MY southern history.
Here's my suggestion for Time Magazine readers, and their writers.
Read people, READ! You can't learn this stuff watching college football and 'merican Idol!! Go get a U.S. History book written before 1970, the new ones all say WE started WWII and that we deserved to get beat, and that we were imperialistic, blood thirsty and just got lucky. That's IF they mention WWII at all. The Civil War is done in an even worse manner.

Is it time to re-Invade Mexico? Yet?
The Mexican army has ordered three junior officers and 10 soldiers to stand trial on drug trafficking and organized crime charges after they were allegedly caught with more than a ton of methamphetamines and 66 pounds (30 kilograms) of cocaine.
The soldiers were arrested last week with drugs at a military checkpoint south of Tijuana, across the border from San Diego. They are being charged within the military justice system.
The Defense Department said in a statement it will "in no way tolerate" such acts.
.
Tons? Pounds? Meth, Coke? Those are drugs that are generally taken in doses weighed in grams or half grams or even quarter grams!! There are roughly 27.2 grams to an ounce and 435.5 grams to a pound. That's near about 100,000 hits of meth and a MILLION or so of nose candy.
.
This WAS millions and millions of doses of drugs that undoubtedly were not going to be sold in TJ, but on the streets of SoCal and AZ most likely. Does any one of us think they were the only group doing this, or that this was their first trip?!!
.
How long will our 'leaders' (I just threw up in my mouth a little) how long will our 'leaders' sit on their fat elected asses and allow Mexican thugs, crooks, drug runners, brick layers, and God knows who or what else, cross into AMERICA at will!!!
.
Anyone here ever been to Tijuana? It's a tourist trap. And if you screw up, it can be a VERY expensive tourist trap. It's easy to get locked up, hard to get out. The people are poor and the gub'ment just doesn't give a flying fig about them. It is just the opposite of life in San Diego.
.
But unless we do something about our borders, this stuff will continue. And I have to tell you, I'm an absolute libertarian on drug policy. If the money and smugglers were gone from the border, so would most of the violence. So we need to either legalize drugs HERE, or take over and run things down THERE.

What if Soros is right?
Mr Soros also predicted the Iranian regime would be overthrown in the "bloodiest of the revolutions".
.
Revolts in Libya were partly the result of "revulsion against a corruption" fed by the misuse of oil money, he added.
More "transparency and accountability" was needed from other producers such as Russia and Saudi Arabia he said.
Mr Soros also predicted the Iranian regime would be overthrown in the "bloodiest of the revolutions".
'Rebelled'
Libya produces 1.6 million barrels of oil per day and is the 17th largest producer in the world.
And Colonel Gaddafi's hold on power has been dependent on the billions of dollars in oil revenue that pour into the country.
Talking of the wave of governments being challenged in North Africa and the Middle East, Mr Soros said: "What has caused the revolutions is a revulsion against a corruption that is fed by the misuse of natural resources like for instance in Libya.
"Transparency and even more importantly accountability in the use of natural resources is what you need for people living in those countries to get the benefit of those national resources.
"Libya produced enormous wealth which Gaddafi took as his own and now the people rebelled against it."
'Tremendous improvement'
Asked whether there should be more transparency with what happened to oil incomes, Mr Soros said: "Very much so."
.
We know Soros is a dangerously rich nut, but if he's right about Iran, we're wrong about the Middle East. I think it's WAY too soon to call it one way or the other. Let's surmise for a second though, what effect would it have on the M.E. if the current Iranian ruling group was ousted? That would certainly mean a moderation of attitude about the west and non-Islamic culture.
.
CERTAINLY there's nowhere for Iran to GO but toward moderation and away from the current Sharia driven, Jihadi, Wahhabist culture. And if Iran quits promoting that, Pakistan would both welcome them BACK, and make them easier to find!

Several months ago, we talked about activity and contribution here at used to be Kim's, she's not really Kim she's really Annie, then she left and we don't know why or where, or whatEVER.
.
Originally we posted stuff both locally where we each live OR nationally if we found something noteworthy and it wasn't already posted. That system was great as it kept us all in the loop, with the world going to hell in a hand basket, from each of our local areas. It allowed us to see that none of us was
A.) insane for thinking the world was about to burn
B.) kept us talking and planning HOW to solve our national and local problems
Having said that, WE have NOW devolved to me and Spider talking to each other via this site. Once in a while, other people will post something. IF you have moved elsewhere, you could at least let us know WHERE that other national / local intel venue is. If you're just DONE with this site, just SAY SO please. I'll get Spider's phone number and just CALL him when I want to "conversate" as the young folks say!
.
I get that life is busy, I get that we're all always moving forward, but I think this site let each of us know what was happening elsewhere. More than once I got an idea from one of you THERE that allowed or pushed me to do something HERE.
.
I never heard of Ron Paul until I was here. He sure as HELL wasn't getting air time from the MSM. I never heard of Glenn Beck until I was here. Again, he wasn't on my local radar. But because of you here, I saw Beck MONTHS before most because someone here pointed me to his show at CNN. I would never have looked at CNN for anything.
.
Hell's bells and cockle shells, I heard the story about a veteran speaking at Columbia and the idiot response he got up there. BUT unlike most Americans, that story wasn't JUST about some veteran, it became about OUR extended family!! I felt for the guy to start with, but I was LIVID when I found out that he was alan's brother.
.
It DID make it different to me.
.
Folks, you may not believe this, but as a Christian and an old hippie, I firmly believe in the Family of Man, and I absolutely believe that blood is NOT the only thing that makes a family. I once thought there was a connection here that might someday be good for all of us. I thought there was a 'mi casa es su casa' thing going on here given that WE were talking about SHTF way LONG before it hit the general populace.
.
Was I in the minority thinking that, OR has this, like much in life in the too fast 21st Century, run it's useful course?

America's Muslim Heritage
I received this from a friend of mine and thought i'd share it with you all...
Barack Obama, during his Cairo speech, said: "I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America 's story."
AN AMERICAN CITIZEN'S RESPONSE:
Dear Mr. Obama:
Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.
Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution?
Declaration of Independence ?
Bill of Rights?
Didn't think so.
Did Muslims fight for this country's freedom from England ? No.
Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America ? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own half brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as "pug nosed slaves." Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of
your family's "rich Islamic heritage," doesn't it Mr.Obama?
Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present.
There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.
Where were Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women be subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights aren't they?
Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi's in killing Jews.
Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren't flying planes into the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing over 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East . No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very "moderate" Muslims who's asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the "rich heritage" Muslims have here in America ..
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslim. And now we can add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor, a psychiatrist, and above all, a terrorist, who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan .
That, Mr. Obama is the "Muslim heritage" in America...

HIS people? Mr. Holder, aren't we ALL your people?
Eric Jamooga Ruhallah Washington LAW-Man Holder (don't most of "his" people have African, Muslim, and / or Street Names? Yo dog, I'm jes' sayin'. and more blacks are named Washington than whites, it's the blackest name in America) but I digress, Mr. Holder has decided to SIDE with HIS people over the Black Panther voter case in Philly. Actually he said "MY" people.
.
Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.
Holder's frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.
The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.
"Think about that," Holder said. "When you compare what people endured in the South in the 60s to try to get the right to vote for African Americans, and to compare what people were subjected to there to what happened in Philadelphia—which was inappropriate, certainly that…to describe it in those terms I think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the line, who risked all, for my people," said Holder, who is black.
Holder noted that his late sister-in-law, Vivian Malone Jones, helped integrate the University of Alabama.
.
Let me ask a question? What do you think the MSM would have said or done IF John Ashcroft, Mike Mukasey or even Roberto Gonzales had gone on record saying they were dropping or prosecuting a federal case based on "MY People"? Michael Moore would have gotten two movies and a PBS Special out of the new racism if those guys had SAID the words "MY People". Sean Penn would be picketing Mukasy's house. The LGBT crowd would be screaming about gay rights. (this case doesn't have anything to do with gay rights, but they'd get it in there)
.
Mr. Holder as THE most powerful lawyer in the country, we are ALL your people. Protect us ALL. Siding with the Black Panthers NOW doesn't have anything to do with the wrongs of the past. (and if anyone is offended by my stringing our Mr. Holders name above, I was just trying to show my solidarity, connection and familiarity WITH Mr. Holder's people. Being a southerner, with southern roots going back over 300 years, and if you believe some anthropologists, that means I have African blood in me. Doesn't THAT make ME included in HIS people?)
.
And WTF does his late sister-in-law's actions have to do with this? My grandfather fought for the Teamsters Union to help get it recognized in the 20's and 30's, but that doesn't give ME any attachment to unions NOW. For good OR bad that was Pop's doings. Mr. Holder was playing Seven Degrees of Separation with this topic. BFD on that.

Class Struggle, Taxes and Brainless Idiots.
Video of unions, socialists, professors and teachers. From Glenn Beck's "The Blaze".
.
Honestly, I'm speechless over this video. And anyone who is a regular here should know I tend toward being verbose and bellicose. But this has me stymied, quiet and befuddled. Just watch it. And try not to weep. Because it's sad.

A Passing
Last US World War I veteran Frank Buckles dies aged 110
Frank Woodruff Buckles, the last known US veteran of World War I, died Sunday at age 110, the Richmond Times Dispatch reported.
A family spokesman told the newspaper that Buckles had died peacefully at his farm near Charles Town, West Virginia.
The last known American veteran who served in World War I was said to be in great spirits earlier this month as he celebrated his 110th birthday at his farmhouse with his daughter and his 24-hour-a-day caregivers.
Buckles enlisted in the US Military at age 16 and joined the ambulance service. He was sent to England in late 1917, before heading to France in 1918.
By World War II, Buckles was no longer serving in the military, but was taken prisoner by the Japanese while working in the steamship business in the Philippines, and held for over three years.
.
A simple question. In 100 years, will anyone mourn the death of the LAST Iraq / Afghan War Veteran?

The head of one of the US’s biggest industrial groups has launched a scathing attack on Barack Obama’s attempts to repair relations with companies, dubbing him “anti-business”.
Manufacturers could shift production out of the US to Canada or Mexico as a result, warned George Buckley, chief executive and chairman of 3M.

“I judge people by their feet, not their mouth,” he told the Financial Times. “We know what his instincts are – they are Robin Hood-esque. He is anti-business.”
The Obama administration has struck a more conciliatory tone towards business since the Democratic defeat in November’s midterm elections.
Last month, the president created a jobs and competitiveness council, chaired by Jeffrey Immelt, chief executive of GE, and including chief executives such as American Express’s Kenneth Chenault, DuPont’s Ellen Kullman, Antonio Perez of Kodak and Southwest Airlines’ Gary Kelly. Mr Obama also convened a meeting this month with technology chief executives, including Steve Jobs of Apple, Google’s Eric Schmidt, Oracle’s Larry Ellison and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook.
Mr Buckley, who has run the diversified manufacturer since 2005, said: “There is a sense among companies that this is a difficult place to do business. It is about regulation, taxation, seemingly anti-business policies in Washington, attitudes towards science.”
.
Anyone who has ever run a business or been a in the front office for a week, knows that government regulation is a DAILY topic. And the fact that America no longer has manufacturing jobs BUT the companies who once did manufacturing here STILL exist for the most part, means jobs CAN come back here.
.
However, the jug eared boob in the WH won't listen and no one will call his hand on this kind of thing.

A Nation Of Laws?
Or, should it read "A Nation of Laws. Sometimes" . And if we are a nation of laws, should not those laws apply to everyone, including (and especially) the Marxist-in-Chief ? It is becoming quite clear to many people that this president doesn't seem to care much about following the law, or the Constitution, when his Marxist agenda is involved. In fact, if he were a Republican, Leftists and their MSM would be howling for his IMPEACHMENT!
A few months ago, some of our friends here were discussing a hypothetical question. "What happens if Obummer refuses to surrender power if he loses in 2012"? And since he's decided to simply sweep Congress aside when they balk at doing what he wants, ignoring a federal court order to resume drilling in the Gulf, allowing Black Panthers to "openly" violate the voting rights laws, could he be somehow telling us what's ahead? Sound crazy? You bet it does, but he's done a lot of things these last 2 1/2 years that we would've thought crazy for a POTUS to do before he showed up. Are we being given yet another warning of his intentions that most of the country will ignore?

45. Play with the siren.
46. If there is someone else in the car, talk to each other in tongues.
47. When he acts confused, keep talking, look at him and laugh.
48. When you are in the back, touch his neck through the fencing.
49. Turn your head and whistle.
50. If he sticks you in the back of the car, cower in the corner, suck your thumb, and whine.
51. Stare at his lights and say "Look at the pretty colors!"
52. Tell him you like men in uniform.
53. Ask if you can borrow his uniform for a Halloween party
Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, nope, just plain damned stupid!
Here, fellow malcontents, are two articles that show that we, as a country, have our gub'mental heads stuck in our tax payer asses.
.
U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., said today that Boeing Co. won a
$35 billion contract to build an air refueling tanker due to "Chicago politics."
Chicago-based Boeing defeated the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. for the contract. EADS planned to assemble the tanker in Mobile.
“I’m disappointed but not surprised," Shelby said. "Only Chicago politics could tip the scales in favor of Boeing’s inferior plane. EADS clearly offers the more capable aircraft. If this decision stands, our warfighters will not get the superior equipment they deserve.”
.
Given the sensitivity of military secrets and the low economy, FOREIGN companies should NEVER be considered for military contracts. Hell, we can't keep our secrets secret when WE control them, how can we trust someone in another country!!
.
Tens of millions flock to the Smithsonian museums in Washington each year to see Americana -- everything from Abraham Lincoln's top hat to Archie Bunker's chair.
.
But one thing you'll have a hard time finding is something American in the gift shop.
Take the miniature sculptures of presidents sold at the National Museum of American History, located right on the Mall in the nation's capital.
From the busts of George Washington to Barack Obama, they were made in China.
Last month Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, was so outraged by the situation that he fired off a letter demanding that the museum sell products made in the USA.
"It appears that a museum owned by the people of the United States, celebrating the history of the United States, cannot find companies in this country employing American workers that are able to manufacture statues of our founding fathers, or our current president," Sanders said in a letter to the museum.
"That is pretty pathetic!" he exclaimed. "I was not aware that the collapse of our manufacturing base had gone that far."
.
And if the government looks outside the cuntry for everything from trinkets to military hardware, we'll NEVER get back on track.

Interesting Nomenclature
First let me say, this guy, and his thugs should, should go to jail for LIFE for endangering the country.
.
Second, I'm betting he's not really a 'RALEIGH man', see what you think.
.
Third, are the primaries legal? Notice that the article never says 'illegal alien'. Perhaps my local CBS affiliate avoided that issue.
.
Raleigh man accused of heading fake documents ring
.
A Raleigh man oversaw a multi-state operation that supplied phony Social Security cards and other documents to illegal immigrants and funneled the profits back to Mexico, according to a federal indictment unsealed Thursday in Richmond.
Israel Cruz Millan, 28, placed managers in cities in 11 states, from Massachusetts to Arkansas, who then oversaw groups of "runners" who drummed up business for the operation and facilitated transactions with customers.
The cost of fraudulent documents varied on the location, with counterfeit green cards and Social Security cards typically selling for $150 to $200. Each cell maintained detailed sales records and divided the proceeds between the runner, the cell manager and upper-level managers in Mexico.
The indictment states that members of the organization wired more than $1 million to Mexico between January 2008 and last November 2010.
Cruz Millan, who also is known as "El Muerto," used violence to intimidate competitors and control the fake documents trade in various cities, according to the indictment.
On Oct. 29, for example, he used a teleconference to broadcast the beating of a runner in Raleigh who he thought had stolen money and fake Social Security cards from the operation, according to the indictment.
"During the call, the listeners could hear sounds of the victim screaming as a result of the beating," the indictment states.

Nice guys, huh?

WH: Obama still 'grappling' with gay marriage
.
The White House says President Barack Obama is "grappling" with his personal views on gay marriage even as he's ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of a law that bans it.
The Justice Department announced Wednesday that, at Obama's direction, it would not defend the Defense of Marriage Act in a court case where it's being challenged.
Spokesman Jay Carney said Obama has always opposed the Defense of Marriage Act as "unnecessary and unfair." But Carney said there's no change to how Obama views gay marriage itself.
.
Yeah, that's all he has on his plate.

Doing God's Work
Doing God's work is a noble calling, until that is, you're captured by murderous pirates. In that case, you have to hope God is available to help. For the four bible-thumpers on their yacht, HE, as often happens, was apparently busy elsewhere while they were slaughtered.
Now unlike my buddy Steve, i'm not a sailor by any stretch of the imagination. I'm also not an expert when it comes to the so-called Law of The Sea, other than what i've seen in old Errol Flynn movies. But, when it comes to knowing the consequences of allowing wild bands of animals to prey on innocent people without the slightest fear of "real " punishment, then i am an expert. The results are always the same. They don't stop, they simply get worse, especially when they see that the prey refuse to even protect themselves, and the military "protection" they have is all but useless. A few months ago, i watched a TV special on a Swedish war ship patrolling the area. They actually came across a large rowboat filled with armed pirates. They checked the rowboat, took the weapons, gave the pirates water, fuel, and cigarettes, and sent them back to Somalia! How's that for punishment.
This time, the victims were Americans, so what does that mean? Well, for one thing, it means the captured pirates are already laughing, like the one convicted last week. He was convicted in a NYC court room, the same as a guy convicted of going through a red light. The news reports said that after the four people were killed, navy SEALS went aboard and actually killed two of the pirates. Two out of 15, which tells you that the SEALS were, as usual, handcuffed. It also tells the pirates back in Somalia that they still have nothing to fear, unless that is, they run into a Russian war ship. You can bet they'll be staying far away from those. And what of the US? Now that the pirates see there's really nothing to fear from the big paper tiger of the West, they'll be out there looking for more Americans...

...so I'm reading this history book...
...here's the set up, post Civil War, Reconstruction, Southern DEMOCRATS, having lost the war, are attempting to regain their pre-war control, especially control over blacks. Grant is President, Custer was just killed, and outrage is high over "injuns' running amok. The Klan is underground, but just barely, troops previously stationed in the south to ensure safety and stability, are headed west to round up 'injuns'. Blacks and REPUBLICANS in the south see quickly that without the troops they'll be under the thumb of the Klan and DEMOCRATS, both of whom use VIOLENCE to enforce their ideal. Northerners are tired of keeping the peace down south.
.
(now here's the interesting part, and this is exact from the book page 388, of "A Patriots History of the United States)
.
and I quote,
.
Democrats and Southerners had learned an important lesson about the press: no matter how grievous the the charge, deny it; then commit another wanton act, and the first behavior will be forgotten in the storm over the new one.
.
Now I ask you, in light of Fannie & Freddie, Wrangles 'trial' for stealing and lying, Al Franken getting elected, Obama's birth certificate going to SCOTUS, Wisconsin teachers California's budget, blah, blah, blah...what is that they do DIFFERENT today, than they did 1876?! And how the hell do SOOO many people get fooled by these assholes!?
.
And as much as I hate to say this, I think the country WILL survive this current pile of trouble. But I think we may lose our status at the top of the heap.

I'll defend your right to say it????
Wow, amazing the hub bub that a hick from small town Idaho can cause. I must have recieved a dozen calls while I was making my commute for work tommorrow, btw did I mention how much I hate snow? Actually, I love seeing it outside my window while sitting by a fire with a nice cup of hot chocholate, but I digress....I was asked....did you see this.... do you know about this....isn't that your brother....so when I got home I had to jump on and find out.
He didn't know it would raise such a fuss, and now thinks it is friggin' hillarious. Stand by for O'riley.

Mommy, is this a Church, or a Mosque?
First let me say, I am a Christian. I believe in and try to live a Christian life. I attempt daily to love, and pray for, my fellow man. (I most often find myself in the same dilemma as Linus, from the Peanuts comic strip, I love Mankind, it's PEOPLE I can't stand!) Having said that all that, I am not, at my core, Evangelical.
.
I struggle enough with MY life that I do not try to convert others to my thoughts and beliefs. I do on the other hand again, help anyone who needs help. Sometimes that is monetary help. I've even said before, that I don't have my CCH, JUST for MY protection. Being both a Christian and an old hippy, I completely believe in doing what I can to help, nurture and generally take care of humanity. I do not limit that to white, middle-class, Christians who drive the same color truck I do, as do some people we all see daily.
.
But I have limits to what I consider 'help'. My helping someone will always take into consideration the general well being of the rest of us. I don't 'help' a drunk by going to get them a case of liquor, and I wouldn't loan them my car! I wouldn't help a paranoid schizophrenic protect himself by buying him a gun. I wouldn't help a newly formed group of Muslims by loaning them my church. I wouldn't help someone...
WHAT? Go back to that Muslim thing? Why? Is there a huge difference there from the rest of what I wrote? OK, I'll go back.
I wouldn't help a newly formed group of Muslims by loaning them my church. But Rev Steve Stone disagrees with me.
.
Steve Stone from Heartsong Church in Cordova, TN is under fire. You see, he recently invited a local muslim congregation to use their sanctuary as a makeshift mosque during Ramadan while their new Islamic Center was under construction.
Seems that Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA is doing kind of the same thing... inviting a local muslim congregation to use church space for their Friday prayers.
According to Cathy Lynn Grossman, the religion editor for USA today, both pastors say that this is a way of 'living out the way of life Jesus calls Christians to live.'
Not everyone thinks this is a good idea, including Pat Robertson (who publicly spoke out against it) or Jason Hood, who wrote a column condemning this over at Christianity Today.
.
Here's a bit from the Christianity Today piece:
Both of the pastors allowing Muslim worship on their property appeal to the love required of Christians as an authoritative guide for their decision-making.
The theological issues at play come down to whether Jesus' love command also requires leaders to avoid causing undue stumbling; or, as Wesley put it, the command to do good works includes avoiding causing or leading others to harm, whether they are believers or unbelievers. Does facilitation of false worship violate the love command?
.
Personally I think it's wrong. For a number of reasons. First and foremost, and as far as I know, All religious buildings are CONSECRATED places of worship. That, to each religion means different things. But each building was built to Worship ONE God. Even Hindus, a religion with, literally, millions of Gods, doesn't generally build temples or altars to but one at a time. That area being consecrated to that ONE God.
.
Given that, IMHO, renting or loaning your CHRISTIAN CHURCH to Muslims is wrong.
.
And I'm that rare American Christian who thinks that Muslims DO worship the One True God. BUT, they've been pulled away by the Devil, to be used as a tool of evil. Of course I'm also a believer, who was raised Roman Catholic, who thinks Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy fall into that same category, and except for Teddy obviously, their religious beliefs are no less dangerous to America than radical Muslims!
.
Let the Mosqueless Muslims do what Christians do when they start out sans facilities, rent a school, a restaurant or a bowling alley for worship.
.
Read the Comments at both links. They are interesting for sure.

Friday Foolishness
Proving once again that no region has a monopoly on idiotry.
Feel like a valedictorian?
I handed the teller at my bank a withdrawal slip for $400.00.
I said "May I have large bills, please"
She looked at me and said "I'm sorry sir, all the bills are the same size."
When I got up off the floor I explained it to her....
IDIOT SIGHTING #1
When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to
pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working
feverishly to unlock the driver side door. As I watched from the
passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered
that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'it's open!'
His reply: 'I know. I already got that side.'
This was at the Ford dealership in Canton, MS.
IDIOT SIGHTING #2
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that
we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4.
He said, 'NO, it's not… Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used Sears repair since.
IDIOT SIGHTING #3
My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back. She sighed and went to get the manager, who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the quarter and said,
'We're sorry but we could not do that kind of thing.'
The manager then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.
IDIOT SIGHTING #4
I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING
sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here!
I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
From Kingman, KS.
IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE #5
My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceburg lettuce.
-- From Kansas City.
IDIOT SIGHTING #6
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
Happened in Birmingham, Ala.
IDIOT SIGHTING #7
The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?'
She was a probation officer in Wichita, KS.
IDIOT SIGHTING #8
At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who was leaving the company due to 'downsizing,' our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.
This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.
IDIOT SIGHTING #9
I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into
itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her
system would not turn on.
A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriffs office, no less.

Uh, this IS a game changer, for sure!!!
I'm just posting this to see what is said. But is this SCOTUS trying to save the country? Seems reasonable assumption to me.

Stunner! Supremes to give eligibility case another look
.
In a stunning move, the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled another "conference" on a legal challenge to Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, but officials there are not answering questions about whether two justices given their jobs by Obama will participate.
The court has confirmed that it has distributed a petition for rehearing in the case brought by attorney John Hemenway on behalf of retired Col. Gregory Hollister and it will be the subject of a conference on March 4.
It was in January that the court denied, without comment, a request for a hearing on the arguments. But the attorney at the time had submitted a motion for Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, who were given their jobs by Obama, to recuse.
Should Obama ultimately be shown to have been ineligible for the office, his actions, including his appointments, at least would be open to challenge and question.
At the time, the Supreme Court acknowledged the "motion for recusal" but it changed it on official docketing pages to a "request." And it reportedly failed to respond to the motion.
.
Challenge and Question? Anything he signed would be Null and Void. It's no more a law than if I had signed it!

OK, then, somebody PLEASE call Hollywood
One of the things that really pisses me off about TV and Movies is the image of southerners as slack-jawed, idiots who live in shacks and who for entertainment drink some home brewed liquor and lynch a few "coons" on Sa'erday nite!
.
Non-southerners are always, witty, urbane and well educated. Yeah, that's totally true. I guess that "Jersey Shores" crowd is an aberration.
.
I've lived here and traveled thoroughly throughout the country and the world. Anyone who thinks racism is alive and well south of the Mason-Dixon line better think again. And there are uneducated idiots everywhere. (go watch Season 2 of "Jersey Shore" in Miami)
.
Personally I find the US vs THEM attitude much more prevalent up north. And it splits up the white community in ways that you just don't see in the south. Very few southern people cling to being German-American, Irish-American, Italian-American, Polish-American, etc. And those groups don't usually like each other in my experience. In fact, in most northern cities those groups self SEGREGATE themselves into ethnic neighborhoods. Likewise, the west coast does this. From the Mexican border to Canada I've seen it. Not something you see in the south at all.
.
Further, having grown up and lived 'down here', there wasn't a KKK meeting everyday, everywhere either, contrary to what we see in entertainment. That's Hollywood bullshit. In fact, the majority of overt racists are Neo-Nazi Skinhead types now, with many holding DUAL Memberships in the Klan and the Skinhead orgs. And they hate or distrust everybody that ain't them! Gee, that sounds like northern and western neighborhoods to me.
.
And if you do the homework, most of the Klan, White-Supremacist, Neo-Nazi groups reside in places like Iowa, Indiana, Idaho, Arkansas, Oregon and Washington. I can tell you THE most racist, in your face, no niggers wanted attitude I ever saw was in a Sumas, WA. Bellingham comes in a close second and Portland is third. (hey, I just realized, that's no where near the South!) Traveling with a business partner, who is black, we were ignored in restaurants, stores and gas stations. They refused to sell to us or give us service. They'd just leave us sitting or go to the next customer. THAT is racism. A mile away in Canada, the idiocy was completely absent.
.
Wondering where all this is going yet? Here's the payoff.
.
In a reversal, more blacks moving back to South
.
The Great Migration, the 60-year escape from segregation and racism that brought American blacks to the North, has reversed course. Better jobs and quality of life in the South are beckoning, as is the lure of something more intangible — a sense of home.
"It's no coincidence that the shift is happening as we encounter economic turmoil that is being felt disproportionately among blacks, such as mortgage foreclosures, loss of jobs and economic devastation in major Northern hubs," said Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP's Washington bureau. "With major changes and less racial devastation in the South, people are finding their way back."
The nation's black population grew by roughly 1.7 million over the last decade. About 75 percent of that growth occurred in the South — primarily metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami and Charlotte, N.C. That's up from 65 percent in the 1990s, according to the latest census estimates. The gains came primarily at the expense of Northern metro areas such as New York and Chicago, which posted their first declines in black population since at least 1980.
Illinois had its first decline in the black population in the state's history, with the number of African-Americans decreasing by 1.3 percent since 2000, according to official 2010 census figures released Tuesday.
In all, about 57 percent of U.S. blacks now live in the South, a jump from the 53 percent share in the 1970s, according to an analysis of census data by William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution. It was the surest sign yet of a sustained reverse migration to the South following the exodus of millions of blacks to the Midwest, Northeast and West in the Great Migration from 1910 to 1970.
"The Great Migration of millions of disenfranchised blacks from the South to Northern cities has now completely turned around," Frey said. "Blacks now look to states like Georgia, Texas and North Carolina as the places with the most promise in the 21st century — a prospect that would have been unimaginable a generation ago."
.
It's not a landslide change, but somebody must have noticed that the south isn't what it once was. Odd that it was the very people who suffered the most, that realized it first. I expect Hollywood to catch up...never.
