Breaking news

Veteran GOP Sen. Specter switches parties

'Political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans,' he says

"change in party affiliation does not mean that I will be a party-line voter any more for the Democrats that I have been for the Republicans."

What a bunch of BS! Just another nail in conservatism's coffin.

"I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate,"

so he's going to let the Obamatrons judge him......

...AND THIS IS A SHOCK TO WHOM?

Spectre has been a thorn in the side of the Republicans for years. I say adios, and KMA on the way out. Oh...and BFD.

I think it's funny that he won't be in lock step with the Democrats now, he was before.

You should be happy. It shows how far to the right the political center has moved. You have republicans infiltrating democrats.

Illustrates how liberalism really isn't represented in this country. That's why we're so screwed.

HLF,
Spectre was NEVER a Republican, in the sense that most non-conservatives mean it. He was left of center at best, left of left at worst. But him leaving to become a Dem, is no biggy, votes in the Senate wise.

With all due respect, you are an idiot. And I mean that most sincerely.

Good Riddence, he is a egotistical retard anyway

They're all political whores. Specter was never anything but a liberal RINO anyway.

QUOTABLE QUOTES
"Let’s be honest-Senator Specter didn’t leave the GOP based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record. Republicans look forward to beating Sen. Specter in 2010, assuming the Democrats don’t do it first." – Michael Steele

Guys like Spectre give RINOs a bad name.....and that's really hard to do consider the lousy reputation that RINO have.

It now seems pretty clear that for all intents and purposes, the Republican party is DOA. IMO, they died from weakness and their inability/unwillingness to fight fire with fire. As i've said before, the only way to fight the left is to use their own tactics against them, something the Republicans are too nice to do. Nobody wins a fight playing by the rules, especially when (thanks to the MSM) those rules apply only to one side.

This insistence on being nice, and playing by the rules, (and a long list of other shortcomings) is what cost Juan McLoser any chance he may have had. That, and his inability to understand that he wasn't simply fighting Yomama, but the MSM.

So now what? Since many Conservatives usually vote Repub, and since there doesn't seem to be a realistic chance the Repubs will be gaining any power any time soon, where do Conservatives go now?

yes, exactly, she is what this country needs......

The Republican Party is done. At the Conservative Confab recently, they straw polled for Mitt Romney, as the best candidate for 2012.

Well here's a hint, IF the powers that be, of the Republican Party, think MITT FRIGGIN ROMNEY is THE best candidate, it's beyond time for a new, fresh, conservative party in America.

Just as the Whigs left the political sphere, the Repugnicans need to go away.

I am a conservative, but I realize that to get to there from here we have to take it in steps

a McCain Conservative has a chance of being elected, then we move on to a Reagen conservative in a few more elections....we can't do it in one step

Anonymous said...

In steps? You assume the Republican party has enough time left to take steps while it's taking it's last breath? If McCain is your idea of a conservative, then you are not a true conservative. And if you are, then you know the Republican party is not the answer.

Maybe the Republicans should ask the Demoncrats how it's done, since the D's don't seem to believe in taking little steps. Now there are calls from within the Repubs for them to become more moderate. More moderate? Can they be watered-down any more than they already are? Did the Dumbocrats take complete control by being moderate?

One of the reasons i'm not a Repub is because i don't believe weakness, playing by the rules, and nice-ness are winning strategies, and the last several elections prove my point beyond a shadow of a doubt. IMO, the Republican party is obviously incapable and/or unwilling to play hardball, a basic necessity in the political world. The results speak for themselves.
