Police say gunman who shot 4 in Calif. dies.
.
A man walked into a Southern California fast food restaurant and shot his stepdaughter and her family of four as they ate lunch together, killing the woman's husband and 8-year-old son before fatally shooting himself Saturday afternoon, police said.
The 56-year-old man arrived at the Del Taco restaurant in San Bernardino on a bike at about 1 p.m., walked over to a table and opened fire at his 29-year-old stepdaughter, her 33-year-old husband, their 6-year-old son and their 8-year-old son, San Bernardino police Lt. Jarrod Burguan said.
The woman's husband was declared dead at the restaurant and the 8-year-old was declared dead at a hospital, San Bernardino Fire Department spokesman Steve Tracey said.
The woman and the 6-year-old boy were hospitalized in critical condition, Tracey said. The names of the victims and the shooter weren't released.
Police said several other people were in the restaurant, but the gunman clearly walked in seeking the four victims. They said the gunman had a long and violent criminal record, but did not give further details.

This kinda crap is another reason I don't want to live in California. The guys with the "long and violent criminal record" get guns, but upstanding citizens CAN'T get a gun.
.
Good thinking gun control nuts the world over.

"Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you."
And the corollary, to that Anon,
"Don't show up in public, and start shooting innocent people, because some old man might ALSO be heavily armed".
I have told people again and again, when asked (badgered), that I carry not just for ME, but also for THEM. Just like a Policeman, a Deputy, an armed guard or a soldier. It is, I think, the reasoning most people with a CCH have. After all, how could you just run away, when you have a gun, no one else does and people are being harmed?
Hell, I'm not French!
I kind of think I'm more Swiss or Norwegian, or, God forbid I go here, American.
When seconds count, the Police are only minutes away, is also very true. The4re is no Cavalry, John Wayne is dead, as is Randolph Scott. But we have new "indians" to deal with, so I carry.
Growing up in NYC, it was (believe it or not) extremely rare to see someone use a gun. Of course, there were plenty of guys who carried guns, but they were the guys with broken noses and pinky rings, and only used them when told in matters of "business". Back then, we fought with our hands or whatever was needed, but no guns. Obviously, the world has changed.
Now, you would be hard pressed to find any kind of "street person" that isn't packing. Having worked in every part of this city, especially the parts tourists never see, i wouldn't think of going out without my trusty Colt. In fact, i know many good, law-abiding people who carry even without a permit. There are tens-of-thousands of people in NYC who are licensed to carry a concealed weapon, even though it's one of, if not the, hardest places to get one. Many have a permit because of political connections or celebrity. They're the ones who carry so they can show-off at cocktail parties, or impress others with their connections, and they usually make sure it's carried in such a way so everyone can see it. I have yet to meet one who had the balls to use it, in spite of the fact that many have been victims of violent crimes.
Personally, i carry mine in such a way that it's not noticeable unless you know what to look for. Most people don't realize that carrying a gun, and being truly willing to use it, are two very, very different things. If you're not ready and willing to take someones life if needed, really willing, leave it home!
