Most of you have much more formal education than I amassed. Having said that, and I've said before, I'm as unimpressed with higher education as I could ever be. Most people cease learning at about 15 or 16. After that, they just pass the tests to get through it. To prove my point, the Associated Press gets skewered regularly by us for idiot phrasing and word use. Today's entry is a dilly. The topic is natural gas. Oddly, it appears that it's in the Middle East where most of the oil already lies buried. Here's the headline, emphasis, mine, all mine!!

The article is about natural gas finds. But is it really under where Jesus was crucified? No, it's here in North America actually. I've read a number of articles about it recently.

But the AP, has done a boo boo with respect to phrasing. The headline clearly says, natural gas is THE SAVIOR, I still don't think that's what they meant to say. How often does the MSM talk down any possibility of the existence of the Judeo-Christian God? Every day, that's how often. Why now, then, use that as an example?

Here's what I think. The word they actually meant to use was CAVALRY, as in, John Wayne, on a horse, saber in hand, charges in to save the wagon train. But they used the word many people use for that, a malapropism, CALVARY, the place where a quite different savior was known to have once been.

They could, of course meant that natural gas would save us the way Jesus did, or does, but I really doubt that was their point. Especially given their ongoing war against Jesus, his followers and given the MSM's propensity for total and undeniable idiocy.

Is it just me, or does that sound like, "hey guys, buy more ammo"? And since he knows a whole lot more about what's really going on behind the scenes than we do, is Newt telling us to "get ready"? With the incredible power the EPA has just granted itself, all they need is a nod from comrade Obummer, and they will be into every single aspect of our lives. There's not one thing we do on a daily basis that won't be regulated in one way or another. Light bulbs, cars, food, home heating and cooling, your TV set, and everything else we do or have. Socialism? We're getting into hard-core Marxism now! This is the kind of stuff Hugo, and Kim Jong, and Fidel do.

The article implies the possibility of legal action against comrade Obummer if he signs an international treaty with the global warming psycho's in Denmark. But who will bring that action? Would that be the job of the congress? (fat chance!) Since a private citizen can not sue the president or congress, who is it left up to?

There was a time in our history when Americans picked-up arms and went to war over far less than what's being done to us. If we stay silent, we will most likely lose what freedoms we have left. If we wait for the next election, all we'll do is give the corrupt politicians something else to laugh at, since that will change nothing, (as usual) and they know it.

Sen. Chuck Schumer had harsh words for a flight attendant who told him to turn off his phone for takeoff.

"Bitch!" the senior senator was overheard Sunday saying to his hand-picked seat-mate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand after arguing with a flight attendant that he should not have to obey Federal Aviation Administration rules.

Schumer's office later admitted to Politico.com that he said it -- but the poll-challenged Gillibrand, who has been strongly backed by Schumer against potential rivals, declined to confirm it and even called his behavior "polite."

Indiana School Removes 'Allah' From Holiday Show After Protests

An elementary school in Indiana reportedly removed a mention of Allah in its holiday show after protests from a national conservative Christian group.

Lantern Road Elementary Principal Danielle Thompson told IndyStar.com that school officials in Fishers, Ind., attempted to teach inclusiveness through the second-grade program that included portions on Christmas, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Las Posadas and Kwanzaa.

"It went off last night without a hitch," Thompson told the Web site. "Several families thought it was a nice program."

Thompson said officials removed the phrase "Allah is God," however, after the American Family Association complained about the program on its electronic newsletter. The alteration was made because no other deities were named in the program.

Shariq Siddiqui, executive director of the Muslim Alliance of Indiana, told the Web site that the decision to remove the word Allah was most certainly not inclusive.

Strategy For Defeat

IMO, one of the main reasons we will lose the war in Afghanistan is because our brave warriors are being told "not to win". It's the same basic political mentality that was used in Viet Nam; go and fight, but don't win, and whatever you do, don't hurt anybody. This is a blueprint for defeat.

Afghanistan is probably the most unique war we've ever fought, in that, it's not even a real country, and there's no real way to tell who the enemy actually is. Does the terrorist who simply runs out of ammo instantly become a non-combatant, and therefor, a non-target? It's an interesting way to fight a war, assuming you don't care how many of your own warriors make it back home in one piece. But if you do care, then they shouldn't be sacrificed simply for someones PC'ized political motives. They are far too precious a resource to be squandered away like that. I know that the nitwit who occupied the Oval Office before Odumbo had nation-building on his small mind, but that's a fools errand. Afghanistan is not a nation. It never has been and never will be. They're very happy living in the 4th century, and we should leave them to it. The Russians found that out the hard way, and so will we. The terrorists we've killed there so far would be just as dead using air-power alone. We have that capability.

So i find myself doing something i never do, that is, taking the same position as many on the Left take when it comes to this war, albeit for very, very, different reasons. If you won't let highly-trained warriors do what they've been trained to do, then bring them home. Now! If you want "hand holders and baby sitters" instead of warriors, send in the Peace Corp. or comrade Odumbo's "civilian army of volunteers". And, if you want to build Afghanistan into a "nation", send Jimmy (peanut brain) Carter and his carpenters, and bring our brave fighters home. Now!

9mm ammo and Nickels

You ever notice how things not necessarily connected, can get connected to each other, by a third thing or occurrence?

I read the posting, about a 1 million men army for the third time in as many weeks, and once again all I saw were the holes in it. A MILLION new soldiers, on OUR streets. And all by The Messiah's thin brown hand. It still sounds like bull shit to me. My uncle thinks so too, and he said so earlier.

Before I read it (again) I was cleaning up around my recliner, here in Casa de Schteveo. I've been battling a unknown intestinal illness since before Turkey Day that is keeping me posted there in that chair about 23 hours a day, so "things" had piled up. Two things were found under the table in my sorting.

I collect old nickels, started 30 odd years ago when I worked at Dominos. I found several Buffalo Nickels in one night and that's how it started. Pure fascination with something most people overlook, 5 cents worth of silver and nickel. Not too many WWII or pre-war 5 centers left, but this one came out of change from our trip to Kentucky. It's been in circulation too, it's all beat to hell, hard to read, filthy, dinged and certainly 5 cents ain't what it was in 1941.

But I thought about finding that nickel, that 1941 nickel, just a few days after Pearl Harbor Day. Many of you may remember that I'm an old squid. (translation for you non-military types: Navy member; sailor) I got to thinking that the law of averages would tell us that this nickel was minted before December 7, 1941, it just WAS back then, it was alive then on that day of infamy. It may well have traveled far and wide in some sailor's or some soldier's or some airmen's pocket or gear to Europe, Africa or Asia. Regardless, it was alive, from then, until now, 68 years.

But even though I've looked at thousands of nickels, this morning it made a difference, connected with that million troop article, and the ammunition. Here's how.

While I was cleaning, I had on TCM, they were showing a WWII movie, "This Land is Mine". I've seen it in pieces before but never from start to finish. It's about a small town in Europe where the Nazi's are already well intrenched and the Americans are bombing regularly to get them out. Some of the towns people side with the bombers, others side with the Nazis. Charles Laughton plays a middle -aged, bachelor, a teacher who lives with his mother. He's a bit "feminine" for lack of a better term, a mommy's boy, a wimp. But he has a crush on one of the new, young teachers. Being a wimp, he does nothing about the girl, sides with no one over the war.

Events transpire to put him at odds with the traditional powers that be, accused of murder. The Nazis will see that he's freed, so he can teach National Socialism to the school children, help create the New World Order, for his new found Nazi friends. But after he gets that offer, he watches as the Nazis execute 10 of his townsmen, including the School Principal, his best friend. He finds his courage on the witness stand and tells of the deal to set him free. Ultimately the Nazis come to execute him for not kow towing to their will. They take him from his classroom where he's teaching about freedom.

OK, here's how it ties together, ready?

You can believe what you will about "troops" in your streets. You can believe what you want about Obama and his "power" to get 1 million troops in the streets. You can believe what you want about "foreign" or "new" troops on your streets. I've told you what I believe numerous times.

But, I know that many of the same people who were overtly isolationists before December 7, 1941, when that nickel was just a pup. Those same people were rabidly ready to defend this country by sundown that day. Given the old polling numbers on Dec 6, 1941, the majority of Americans DID NOT want to even supply arms to the Europeans who were fighting tyrannical powers. But after the country WAS attacked, things changed.

I believe the same thing will be true if presented, again, here in America. People who are not political, or who are anti-gun, anti-WTF have you, WILL NOT stand by and be subjugated by Obama, Yo Mama or Yo Yo Yo any fucking body else Yo got. They will not see their children abused or starved or mistreated. It will not happen. Hell, they won't let them be spanked at school NOW, yet you think they'll allow them to be pushed into a way of life mommmy and daddy don't want!!?

You do and believe what you want, I'll defend your right to do so. Me, my nickels and my ammunition will be shooting the first mother fucker who tries to take my nickels, my guns or the aforementioned ammunition. Regardless, I'm gonna go down fighting, 1941 nickel in pocket, guns in hand, believing that most Americans are going to protect themselves. Wimps now or not, when pushed to the right point. They’ll stand up.

That will include our friends and family in the military. They, like me, will follow their oath. An oath sworn to defend the Constitution, and the country. It's not an oath to defend Obama or any other temporary resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They'll stand up for that oath and for themselves.

Why The Left Is Winning

Although the majority of Americans are not aware of it, most of us here know that this country is, and has been, involved in a culture war for decades. It's not simply a war between the social engineers of the Left and the Right, but a war between the rabidly intolerant Left and anyone who dares oppose them. And it doesn't take a genius to look around and see that we, who are not part of the left, are losing. We've already lost our government, and i truly believe our freedom is next. That may sound like a pretty radical opinion to some, but perhaps they're not paying attention to what this govt. is doing, and is in the process of doing.

As i've said before, there is (IMO) only one way to defeat the Left, and that is to use their tactics. Simply being right, sensible, and rational, doesn't count any more, as the now-dead Republican party found out. We need leaders who are not afraid to "take the gloves off " and go for blood as those on the Left are in the habit of doing every day. Of course, the Left does have a major advantage, and that is the MSM, which makes everything the Left does and says appear to be right and true.

Being conservative in your political philosophy is one thing, but being conservative in your words and actions when fighting the Left is (IMO) a losing strategy. Just ask the Republicans who still don't get it. We had better start fighting, really fighting, or get used to wearing a leash...

Michelle Brewer said she was opening Brewer’s Fine Jewelry, 228 N. Main St., the store she co-owns with her husband, on Saturday morning when the incident occurred.

After Brewer parked her car next to the store, she walked around the corner and saw the deer.

“I remember seeing them and that was it,” Brewer said. “There was no time to do anything.”

Has The Line Been Crossed?

IMO, the answer to the above question is clearly, yes! Those of us not addicted to Kool-Aid realize there are certain words that cannot be used when describing the MSM. Words like, fair, unbiased, honest, truthful, accurate, and neutral, are some of the words that come to mind. And, as many of us know, when the above words (values, goals) are no longer part of the MSM's basic work "ethic", it can have dire consequences on our country and our very lives, since tens-of-millions of people still rely on what they see, and especially what they're told, by the MSM.

Although this article is about the growing global-warming scam, and how some very powerful people are fighting hard to keep it alive, thus making sure that Trillions of our dollars are sent in their direction, along with total control over our lives, it also raises (IMO) some questions that may be far more important, questions, that up until the 60's, were not really necessary to ask, since back then, the MSM simply did it's job, which was to report "the factual news". The Viet Nam war changed all that. It was, for the most part, that war, and the phony issues created around it, that changed the MSM from "reporters of fact" to "Left-wing political activists".

When our Founding Fathers created the Constitution's First Amendment, which among other things, gave the press far-reaching privileges and protections, did they envision the all-powerful, answerable-to-no-one, highly-biased, Left-wing monster that exists today? Did they think the press would manipulate and abuse it's privileges and protections to the point where today, they are limitless? Was that really their intention?

So my questions are these;

1. Since the MSM has clearly decided to use it's privileges, rights, and protections to strongly advocate for a specific political agenda, have they gone beyond their protected and intended role to provide factual news?

2. And if so, should they still be entitled to those sacred rights, privileges, and protections when acting as zealous, politically motivated advocates of a specific agenda?

TV Shows

Has anyone noticed that pretty much every single TV show on these days seems to have, as a pre-requisite to the creation of every episode, some dead person in it, who was likely killed in some grusome and nasty fashion?

Bones, NCIS, CSI... Need I go on?

I wonder how much all of this constant exposure to death and gore is effecting us. I remember when I first watched "The Silence of the Lambs" and was grossed out when they used Vick's Vapo-Rub on their noses to hide the smell of the body they were looking at. In a movie, with an R rating, shown in Theaters only, they didn't even really show the body. That was about 20 years ago.

Now, we see on prime time TV every night, bodies being dismembered in the most graphic ways, full-on autopsies with internal organs strewn about - and we watch it all while we're eating dinner.

I must admit I like several of these shows, but it occured to me tonight - WTF is wrong with us? I just watched the new Bones, where a body left in a grease bin and cooked slowly over 2 weeks fell to pieces, skin sloughing, organs falling out... Compared with the modesty of Silence of the Lambs, this was about as graphic a thing you can imagine.

I'm not for censorship at all. I just wonder what happened to nuance and subtlety. I remeber that the looks on the faces of the actors, and the simple action of putting on Vick's vapo-rub under their noses being way more graphic and disturbing than watching a corpse being dimembered on TV tonight. Have we become so unimaginative that we cannot handle nuance anymore? Have we become desensitized?

Tragedy in Washington State

And finally, Goober’s posting orgy comes to an end, with one post about a massive sadness that has landed on all of us citizens of the Evergreen State. You’ve all heard about the 4 officers that were gunned down earlier this week, and by now, I’m sure you’ve heard that the bastard that did it is just now working his way through the fifth level of hell on his way to his eternal place of residence. I wanted to comment that his death doesn’t make it right, but it certainly brings an awesome sense of closure to the situation. There are people on the west side of the mountains (we call it the LEFT side for a reason, BTW) who are calling for the cop who shot him to be arrested for murder. You see, the bastard didn’t shoot back, all he did was try to run away. Normally, if a cop shot a guy trying to run away, I would be pissed off, too – but in this case, common sense tells me to make an exception. It isn’t as if the guy had made it abundantly clear that he was a serious danger. I would have capped him, too. So, I hereby call for this cop to get a medal, a commendation, and two weeks paid vacation. Who’s with me?

The cynic in me is wondering how this situation with Tiger Woods would have played out had the roles been reversed. No, I really don’t care if he was stupid enough to cheat on his beautiful wife. No, I really don’t care if their marriage in on the rocks because of it – but consider, gentle reader, just exactly how the media and the police would be treating this had the tables been turned. Consider if it was the WIFE who had plowed into a tree because Tiger had chased HER out of the house with a golf club, and broke the rear window of her car, etc, etc, etc.

Oh, yeah. No free pass there, right? Go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200, and the mainstream media drags you through the mud like they did to Chris Brown (and deservedly so).

Just to prove my point, how many of you are aware that Rhianna was seen to be assaulting Brown with her stiletto heels and slapping his face just seconds before he snapped and choked her? I’m not excusing his actions, but don’t you think that if HE gets destroyed for being a DV aggressor, that SHE ought to also, especially considering that SHE started the physical altercation?

And don’t give me that crap about girls being smaller and weaker than boys. A girl with a stiletto heel or a pissed wife with a 9 iron can do plenty of damage, thanks very much. (Besides, Tiger and Chris are both kind of girly, anyway).

Goober’s back, and he is pissed like a motherfucker at the current state of dishonesty and constituency bashing coming out of Congress. Take earlier today, for example, when Ma’am – er, sorry, SENATOR – Barbara Boxer stated the following in response to Senator James Imhof’s discussion of what we are now referring to as “Climategate” (despite the fact that this humble scribbler is sick to death of every scandal for the last 40 years having –gate attached to the end of it as if that somehow is the only way that we stoopid windowlickers can identify a scandal anymore). To paraphrase her, she basically stated that she doesn’t think of the problem as “Climategate” so much as she thinks of it as “E-mailtheftgate”.

Look, Ma’-er-Senator, it has been pretty much generally accepted that the people at CRU, knowing that they were going to be forced to release this information via FOIA, dumped it onto an FTP server in Russia and then leaked that they had been hacked. This isn’t a hack or a theft, it is their attempt to de-legitimize the data (and subsequently, their long string of lies after lie) by saying it was stolen rather than release it via FOIA. This way, they can contest anything in there by saying that it has been modified by the “hacker”. So, it has been pretty much proven at this point (I’m looking in your direction, Ed Begley, Jr.) that the peer-review process as it relates to global warming is a total fraud. It is clear to me that at least a few of these people need to be investigated and shackled with fraud charges. It also seems to me that some people that know what they are looking at need to analyze the code in the models to see if it is, indeed, as biased towards warming as the summary analyses have thus far claimed. If so, then Boxer, Gore, and all the other people using this as an excuse to grab control of our lives MUST step back and re-analyze this entire situation. Any failure to do that will reveal their true colors and prove what I’ve been saying all along – that AGW is and has always been a red herring created to use as an excuse to take control over us.

I would expect all freedom loving Americans to react accordingly to this revelation.

Is it just me, or does someone else get the impression that our little home-away-from-home here is dying? Looking at the posts and comments, it seems we're down to what, maybe 3 or 4 regulars? Bill (srk) O is here, as is the lovely Lady (C-Bug) Bug, Uncle (Steve) Fu still comes around. Brother Poots stops by now and then, as does Blue on occasion. So where's everyone else? Now i realize some of us have a lot more time on our hands than do others. So is that the only reason?

As i recall, we had a pretty good group going here, in spite of the fact that our founder and mommy Annie/Kim abandoned us. We never did find out why she left us, (at least i don't know) but hopefully, she and Jack are doing well shooting up the deserts of Nevada. (maybe)

So, what do you guys think? Is it just me, or is my impression shared by others? Maybe the number of our friends who check-in and comment will give us the answer...
