I've been a member of the National Rifle Association for a long time. But in recent years, i've started to have second thoughts about this organization because of some of their political moves, such as the one in this article. Now i can't say (yet) if everything in this article is 100% factual, but if it is, they can kiss my dues goodbye!

Here's my problem with the NRA.
Money, Money, Money!!
If they call me once, they call me three or four times a month for funds!! And it's not JUST the NRA, it's the NRA Committee for Hunter's Rights, The NRA Judicial Watch Foundation, the NRA Congressional Referendum Readers Group, NRA blah blah blah, NRA blah blah blah, NRA blah blah blah. If it's about THE NRA, let them get money from the main office. If I had all the money they want me to donate, I could hire a personal lobbyist.
I still doubt this, until I see it from somewhere reliable.
Even I'm willing to sell out for a price too. Just so happens no one has come close. Hint: it involves unconditional immunity, not having to say anything, lots of gold, ammo, and a few other things, each of which the exact amounts are not to be disclosed. And so much of all these things, it's doubtful anyone will ever come close. Oh...and anon as my personal court jester...for laughs

Schteveo nailed it.
I gave up on being an NRA member when they started sending me stuff I had to either mail back or pay for.
They are so obnoxious about 'fund raising' it drove me over the edge - when my last 5-year membership ran out I told them, under no uncertain terms, to leave me alone.
I look at it this way: Yes, the NRA supports my way of life and I appreciate their lobbying efforts - but now I take those same $$ for NRA dues and buy firearms and ammo - then those "suppliers" use a portion of that $$ for lobbying efforts.
Ain't Capitalism wonderful?
And I note Schteveo still hasn't fixed the post-counter problem.
:-)
Didjall hear about the latest Cajun recipes to come out of the Loooosiana Bayou?
There's several good ones, including:
** Oiled Shrimp Gumbo Flambe
** Catfish Crude ala Obama
** Self-browning rainbow-sheen red fish served on a bed of trisodium phosphate.
M-mmmm.
The cost of a beer a week could be worse spent.
Why did I have to come home from Costa Rica?
Bro Poots,
it's NOT just the money. I have some of what they want, but the tally is about $40 to $50 a month. That's usery. I just tire of the constant refrain of, "...we're doing it for YOU...", or "...America NEEDS your constant vigilance...".
As IF anyone of US, much less I, need them reminding me to be vigilant. I don't know about the phone callers, but I took an OATH in 1977 to do that. And I've done it! And JUST money doesn't do it. But to hear them, it's all just about dead Presidents.
If it's about dead Presidents, I've got a suggestion for them...
BTW, I don't drink $40 a month of anything. I'm a big, quart and a half, insulated cup of ice water guy.
First of all, i don't see how anyone could expect an organization that big to run without money. On the other hand, i do agree with you guys about their aggressive tactics. I don't like being constantly pushed for money, by anyone! It's "one of" the main reason i no longer give to the WWF. (World Wildlife Fund) The other eason being that they seem to have joined forces with the leftist EnviroNazi's.
Welcome home Missy. When do we get to see the pics from your honeymoon? You know, the "good ones". ;)
Here's another interesting article about the NRA, this one involving the commie bitch that's heading for the SCOTUS. According to this story, it's apparently "clerks" who tell the Supremes what to think, just like it's the young staffers who actually run congress.

Spider,
it's the same kind of idiot thinking that puts Al Queda and the Tea Party, in the same bag.
Al Qaeda and the Tea Party are the same?
WORD OF THE DAY
STATISM, n.
A pernicious form of political tyranny that empties your wallet, strips you of your life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, then mico-manages your enslaved existence until you escape to the blessed oblivion of the grave.
How many Dems / talking heads / Keith Olbermans have said the Tea Party is just a terrorist front for conservatives? Hell, I've read and heard it repeatedly.
I was thinking earlier. Back in the 60's, when the current administration was a bunch of radicals in training, THEY were accused of being radical, terrorist, destructive to America...because they represented a departure from the conservative norm. Now, the college radicals of old are in charge. So they're doing the same to the Tea Party now. It's stupid given the reversal of people in charge, but it's what the guys in charge do.
Demonize the guys trying to knock them down.
Here's the difference, nobody ever caught Karl Rove trying to bomb a cop shop, before he started advising GWB.
Stupidity knows no boundaries
