As the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve, one song will usher in 2012 in time zonesaround the world: Robert Burns's "Auld Lang Syne." Even in Burns's native Scotland, many people don't understand all the words, but that's done nothing to diminish the song's appeal.
Canadian bandleader Guy Lombardo also played an important role in popularizing "Auld Lang Syne" in North America. He adopted the song in 1929 for use in his annual New Year's Eve broadcasts on radio and television.
May the New Year find us all in better circumstances. Yeah, I get that it ain't likely. But hope springs eternal.

Where did everyone go? Have all the pold aquaintances been forgot?
srk,
busy....and the above post is the best excuse I can come up with. Wish they lived closer.
I'm still trying to recoup from my older son and his Golden Horde being here for 5 days!!
They don't so much 'visit' as they invade.
This is the first time here that something didn't get broken. However the two older ones, teen aged boys, 'funked' up my spare bedroom. It smells like nuts and butt holes in there right now. I may burn the hide-a-bed to get rid of the 'funk'.
Happy New Year all. And a better year in 2012 to you too.
