OMG, a black kid from SC (that's in the south ya' know) who knows and understands his state's history!
I'm hoping he doesn't do something CRAZY like openly say that anyone in his family fought in the Civil War. (for the Confederacy) Between 60K and 100K blacks fought FOR the South. Some were free men, some were slaves. Some were even slaves owned BY black men.
The toughest thing for any modern AA's to believe is that THE first slave in America was owned by another black man.
Look up the case of John Casor. He was legally given to another black man Anthony Johnson by the VA corts in the 1670's. The Casor Case set the laws by which ALL the slaves were brought to America.
How many kids at that, predominantly black, school have ever heard of Casor? How many hand wringing whites have?
Yeah, I too was in the 'dark' on the first slave in America issue until a few years ago. I learned about Casor, by watching Glenn Beck.

The OTHER dirty secret of slavery is that STRONG African Tribes preyed on WEAKER African Tribes. Black men captured other black men and sold them to Arab Slave Traders originally. Then they wised up and sold directly to white slave traders, cutting out the middle man.
Further, I get truly irate when I here Jesse Jackass, Al Sharptongue, et al, talking about slaves in America, and that being why blacks STILL can't get ahead. It couldn't be because they, as a race, refuse to get educated, get jobs, get MARRIED, get jobs, get out of ghettos, raise their own children, get jobs...no, it's gotta be slavery holding them down. Slavery here ended 148 years ago, this coming January 1st. But slavery (now called Human Trafficking) exist worldwide to this very minute. Outright slavery exists in almost all the Arab speaking, Islamic countries.
Did you EVER hear any of the American race baiters talk about THAT?
