I was (erroneously) taught in grade school that,
.
A) America was ruled by the Constitution, including the 1st Amendment.
.
B) Americans could, under that Amendment, say, sing or put into PRINT anything they wanted.
I don't remember needing a Business License to do that. But in Philadelphia, home of the Liberty Bell, that's how it works now. Here's my question, are they charging ALL free lance writers?

This really sounds illegal to me. And the perdon who came up with this idea should be shot. Those who agree with it should be drawn and quartered.
I'm with you Bill, it sounds illegal to me. So much for Freedom of the Press, huh?
I live in NYC where in my condo they have a 22 yo bitch, just a few hrs ago, uh, rep, who I told if enters my apt w/o my permission, I told her my kids were instructed to invoke their second amendment rights. a long story, but, let's just say I expect Bloomberg's Blitzkrieg to visit at any moment.
23 days ago the rooftop pool again washed out my apartment 35 floors below and she had the balls to say it was our fault if we had a "leak". Once our ins adjuster and lawyer got involved, suddenly they wanted "emergency access" when my wife and I were not there or my teenage girls were home alone. I don't think so!
I will blame this on the current "tax to spend" mentality that all levels of government have adopted.
If a person makes any money at all, tax it.
I remember a spoof on tax preparation from about 20+ years ago, called the progression of US tax law:
past: Income - expenses = remainder --> send in the remainder
present: Income - expenses = remainder --> send in the reaminder +15%
Future: Income --> send it in.
you forgot next week's new idea. spend now, tax later believing there will be income to tax, which will never materialize
tilt- game over
The more desperate cities and states get, the more of this we'll see. Is it legal? I don't really know, but govt's don't let a little thing like legality stop them when they're hunting for money. Just ask His Majesty Bloomberg about NYC's $14.20 per pack cigarettes. Of course, you always have the option of spending several hundred thousand and the rest of your life in court suing them.
I'm old and irrelavant. Just ask the politicians. They know best
So am i, but i can still shoot straight!
