Better Late Than Never?

It's been eight years since the 9/11 attacks, and about seven years since the 9/11 commission told us to wake-up (LOL) and guard our borders. And as of today, "our" government doesn't have the slightest clue as to who's in this country, or the real reason they're here. Now, (now?) someone has decided that, like every other country on this planet, maybe we should start requiring people to prove who they are when they stroll into this country. What a novel idea. Even a socialist, milk-toast country like Sweden requires documents other than a Wal-Mart membership card to enter.

So why now? Perhaps the corrupt, incompetent, lying crooks who rule us were waiting for computers to advance to the point (were they have been for some time) where, according to the Secret Service, FBI, IRS, Treasury, etc., "there is no such thing as a document that can not be forged, duplicated, or copied". Besides, since the majority of the people from south of our imaginary border are already here, why bother?

Obama Closing Dealerships Owned by Republicans?‏

Are Democrats Behind Closing Republican-Owned Chrysler Dealerships?

It should be clear to everyone by now that neither the Chrysler Corporation nor General Motors are going quietly into bankruptcy. The actions of the Obama administration represent what, in my lifetime, is certainly an unprecedented level of government interference in private business.

A number of bloggers are pointing out that the dealerships targeted for closure are owned by people who appear to be overwhelmingly Republican in their political giving patterns. In fact, one of the auto dealers happens to be a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives. And that, they say, suggests that partisan politics are afoot.

So it is clear the stakes are high. But is this a legal issue—or a political one, as some suggest?

What do you think?

Couple Ordered to Stop Holding Bible Study at Home Without Permit
Thursday, May 28, 2009

Pastor David Jones and his wife Mary have been told that they cannot invite friends to their San Diego, Calif. home for a bible study — unless they are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to San Diego County.

"On Good Friday we had an employee from San Diego County come to our house, and inform us that the bible study that we were having was a religious assembly, and in violation of the code in the county." David Jones told FOX News.

"We told them this is not really a religious assembly — this is just a bible study with friends. We have a meal, we pray, that was all," Jones said.

A few days later, the couple received a written warning that cited "unlawful use of land," ordering them to either "stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit," the couple's attorney Dean Broyles told San Diego news station 10News.

But the major use permit could cost the Jones' thousands of dollars just to have a few friends over.

For David and Mary Jones, it's about more than a question of money.

"The government may not prohibit the free exercise of religion," Broyles told FOX News. "I believe that our Founding Fathers would roll over in their grave if they saw that here in the year 2009, a pastor and his wife are being told that they cannot hold a simple bible study in their own home."

~
In Communist countries (Red China comes to mind) you also have to have a "government permit" for religious assembly.

LOS ANGELES — An openly gay teen was voted prom queen at Los Angeles' Fairfax High School in a campaign that began as a stunt but ended up spurring discussion on the campus about gender roles and teen popularity. Sergio Garcia, 18, was crowned queen Saturday night at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

"I feel invincible," Garcia said in his tiara and charcoal-gray tuxedo.

A few days earlier, he gave a speech that won over some cynics and led to an ovation and his unlikely victory.

"At one time, prom may have been a big popularity contest where the best-looking guy or girl were crowned king and queen. Things have changed and it's no longer just about who has the most friends or who wears the coolest clothes," Garcia told a gymnasium full of seniors. "I'm not your typical prom queen candidate. There's more to me than meets the eye."

Garcia assured the crowd he wouldn't wear a dress on prom night.

"I will be wearing a suit," he said. "But don't be fooled, deep down I am a queen."

The school, which sits at the end of the rows of chic shops on Melrose Avenue and was once attended by members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has long been a haven for students who would be considered outcasts at many schools.

Garcia said he saw fliers advertising the prom and the election, and they didn't specify that the queen must be a girl. He thought the role would suit him better than prom king.

"I don't wish to be a girl," he told the Los Angeles Times. said. "I just wish to be myself."

Here We Go Again

Well, it sounds like some of the brothers and sisters from the Miami branch of the NAACP smell some big money. This time, the shake-down target is the huge Homestead NASCAR racetrack in southern FL. I've been to this track for several major races and it's an outrageous place to be for motor-heads. (although i prefer F-1 racing)

So what's their problem this time? Yep, it's the old "we hate the Confederate flag and anybody who wears it or shows it" scam. Now keep in mind, Homestead Motor Speedway is in the deep, deep, South, with lots of beer, lots of pick-up trucks, lots of guns, and lots of folks who ain't afraid to use 'em! But, when the NAACP sees a chance to intimidate someone, they're not going to pass it up, especially if there's a chance at a "compromise". (see: $$$$) Strange thing is, NASCAR is not what is generally considered a black sport (the fans are overwhelmingly White) like basketball or chain-snatching. But, money is money so it's worth a try. Maybe. I wonder what kind of health insurance those NAACP folks have...

Things are tough all over, Toledo not excluded, unless you sell guns!!!
.
They're laying off policemen, so people are buying guns to protect themselves. How long before Katie Kutiepie has a story about a murder, committed by a gang banger, using a gun stolen from a little old lady, who bought it for protection?
.
She'll blame George Bush.
.
OH, and the little old lady.

.
The first round of Toledo police layoffs, in which 75 officers were let go, may already be having an affect on gun ownership.

"I just don't feel safe with the amount they're laying off," says Jonna Ewing. "I think it's going to be a longer respond time."

She is spending the day at a conceal carry class. She's been thinking of getting a gun for awhile, but feels now's the time due to the recent layoffs.

She's not alone. Case in point, someone in Jonna's class wears one those infamous police t-shirts: "I called 911 and all I got was this lousy garbage can" that showed up soon after the TPD cuts.

Have We Had Enough Yet?

For many, many people, it's becoming tougher to continue calling America a free country. With new and intrusive laws and regulations being passed every day by the government, (including local and state governments) laws that all to often cater to the few against the wishes of the many, the people are feeling choked. Trillions of our hard-earned tax dollars are being thrown around and given away as though it were play money, and the people have nothing to say about it. Our young warriors are sent off to war in places where we have no business being, and the reasons we're given turn out to be lies. And no, voting is not the peoples chance to make their voices heard, since no matter who's in charge, nothing changes except to get worse. We have a system of govt. that's based totally on lies and corruption, controlled by hacks who couldn't care less about what the people say. They have turned our Constitution into a joke, one that they manipulate or ignore at will.

Apparently, some states have had enough. There is now a large and growing movement by states to stop the federal govt. from turning us into a nation of obedient worker-ants. I had heard about this movement some time ago, but i wasn't aware it had grown to this size. If it continues to grow, it may be the kind of movement that gives us our country back, or tears it apart. Either way, it would be (IMO) an improvement. We can not continue on this path and still call ourselves free...

What say you?

Surprise, Surprise

Well, it looks like yo president Yobama has made his choice for the SCOTUS. And, it comes as no surprise to some of us that he went for judge Sonia Sotomayor, "the most extreme" Leftist on his list. While Yobama's words have convinced the American people that he wants to govern from the center, his actions tell a very different story. But, the American people don't seem to care about actions. They prefer nice words.

Judge Sotomayor is a Puerto Rican from The Bronx, NY. She's considered "a left-wing judicial activist", and a judicial bulldozer. Even though the word of her pick was made public during this mornings news, some of the media maggots are already describing her as "a moderate", (she's about as moderate as Kim Jong Ill) and the first Hispanic on the court. (funny, i thought Benjamin Cardoza, a Spanish jew, was) But don't expect facts to get in the way of her appointment. With the death of the Republican party, there's no one to stop her. With our new one-party-rules-all system of government, it's a done deal. She's in!

Hit The Road Comrade

In what may be the only place in the country where those on the Right actually prevail over those on the Left, Liberty University in Virginia has banned the campus's Demoncrat club. The private Christian university, founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, basically says the Demoncrats promote "values" that are against everything Christians believe in, which of course, is common knowledge to anyone who can still think for themselves. And since this is a private university, they may just be able to pull it off.

Personally, i'm pleased to see this happen. With the Left in full control of the government and the MSM, and with the Republican party now DOA, those of us on the Right are being hounded in almost every part of this country. We're being ignored, laughed at, and treated as 4th class citizens with absolutely no voice in anything, save for a few radio talk-show hosts.

But, (IMO) most of this is our own fault. Why? Because we don't fight back! As i've said many times, the only way to beat the Left is to use their tactics against them, something Conservatives and Republicans don't seem to have the stomach for. (you can't win a war playing by the rules) Just this past week, we saw Queen Botox almost dethroned by the righteous (albeit weak) attack from Republicans. Now, she's gone on the offensive and it seems she'll survive. Why? Because the attack was weak, and the Republicans backed off for fear of being seen as "too aggressive, not nice, etc. Not only did they let her off the hook, but they've now invited a counter attack, one that's already working. If those of us on the Right have any hope of getting our country back, the gloves must come off. And stay off!

..and from the WSJ, a column by Captain Obvious

.
With Jobs Scarce, Age Becomes an Issue
.
More Young Workers Are at Risk of Layoffs as Employers Grow Wary of Letting Older Employees Go
.
By DANA MATTIOLI

Age discrimination in the workplace has long been a concern for the 55-and-older set. In this downturn, however, younger workers may have as much to fear as their more-mature colleagues.

Employees in their 20s and 30s are finding themselves more at risk of a layoff, according to labor lawyers, as employers look to avoid age-discrimination lawsuits by adopting a "last one in, first one out" policy and turn to tenure as a means of conducting layoffs. In some cases, young, childless professionals say they feel they're being targeted in layoffs, while employees who have families to support are given special consideration.

While no age group is exempt from layoffs, younger workers seem to be shouldering a larger percentage of the burden, according to recent Labor Department figures. The unemployment rate for those between the ages of 25 and 34 was 9.6% in April 2009, up from 4.9% a year earlier. For those ages 55 and older, the unemployment rate was 6.2% in April 2009, compared with 3.3% a year earlier.
.
Wary of Lawsuits

While younger workers tend to earn the lowest salaries, making them the least-expensive workers to retain, companies are becoming wary of laying off older, better-paid workers.

.
Employers are wary of laying off the older workers? Or better still, the older workers could be more knowledgeable, more reliable, have a better track record, and thus, are better suited to retention.
.
I'm assuming the WSJ is keeping this columnist, because of said writers insights, or age. It would seem, being a journalist the writer shows no concept of real world working experience.

N.Y. Police: Terror Suspects Wanted to 'Commit Jihad'
.
Four men sought to wage a holy war against America when they plotted to bomb two New York City synagogues and shoot down military planes in upstate New York, authorities said Thursday.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters that James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen of Newburgh, N.Y., "wanted to commit Jihad" and were angry about Muslims being killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan by U.S. military forces.

The men allegedly planned to detonate a car with plastic explosives outside the Riverdale Temple, a Reform synagogue, and an Orthodox synagogue called the Riverdale Jewish Center, located a few blocks apart in the Bronx.

They also intended to shoot military planes at the Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, N.Y., with Stinger surface-to-air guided missiles, authorities said.

Vegetarian Bacon Salt

You know those random banner ads that are on every web page you visit? Well, I just saw one that made me want to know more. The name of the product is "Bacon Salt".

I found their website, http://www.baconsalt.com/, and what I read on the front page made me grin.

Bacon Salt is a zero calorie, zero fat, vegetarian and kosher seasoning that makes everything taste like bacon.

Is there really a huge demand for making things taste like bacon in the vegetarian and kosher communities?

I had to look around the site, and found that not only do they make Bacon Salt, they make an entire line of bacon-flavored products. They sell Baconnaise (yes, it's what you think it is) as well as Baconnaise Lite, an entire line of seasonings and the coup de grâce: Bacon lip balm.

I don't know if I'm brave enough to try it myself, but if it's not sold at a fine retailer near you, never fear. The web site also says that their products are available through Amazon.com (go ahead and click it) and QVC.

Don't Forget Your Parachute

F.Y.I.
News 8 Investigates: Airline Mechanics Who Can't Read English;

Saturday, May 16, 2009
By BYRON HARRIS / WFAA-TV

News 8 has recently revealed serious flaws in the way the FAA licenses mechanics who fix planes. There is evidence of years of problems in testing these mechanics. There is also evidence that hundreds of mechanics with questionable licenses are working on aircraft in Texas. Now there is evidence of repair facilities hiring low-wage mechanics who can't read English.

Twenty-one people were killed when U.S. Airways Express Flight 5481 crashed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2003. The plane went wildly out of control on takeoff.
One reason for the crash, investigators found, was that mechanics incorrectly connected the cables to some of the plane's control surfaces in the repair shop. The FAA was cited for improper oversight of the repair process.

Repairing airplanes is a complicated business. Airplanes have many manuals. Typically, when mechanics repair a part, they open the manual, consult the book, and make the repair step-by-step, as if it were a recipe book. They make a list of every action they take, so the next person to fix the plane (as well as the people who fly it) will know exactly what has been done. If mechanics don't speak English, the international language of aviation, they can't read the manual and they can't record their activities.

There are more than 236 FAA-certified aircraft repair stations in Texas, according to the FAA's Web site. News 8 has learned that hundreds of the mechanics working in those shops do not speak English and are unable to read repair manuals for today's sophisticated aircraft. Former FAA inspector Bill McNease told News 8 he regularly encountered applicants for pilots’ licenses who tried to pretend they could speak English — but could not. "When I was based in Dallas, I had that happen every week," McNease said. "It was not uncommon at all to have foreign flight students. We had mechanics, but I handled the pilot end of it.... and I turned down people every week because they couldn't speak English."

"There are people [where I work] who do not know how to read a maintenance manual as they are spelled out, because they don't have a clue," said one certified aircraft mechanic who works at a Texas aircraft repair station. He wished to remain anonymous to protect his employment.

To certify a part for flight or repair an engine, a mechanic must be licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Power plant mechanic, known in the business as an "A&P." News 8 discovered that mechanics at one licensing center in San Antonio were being tested in Spanish as late as last fall. The FAA ultimately shut the facility down. Supervisors in Texas repair stations say they are supposed to oversee the repairs of dozens of untrained mechanics who can't read the manuals and can't write down the work they've done. But the FAA does not require every person working at a repair station to be a certified A&P. One certified A&P can sign off on the work of dozens of uncertified mechanics.

That creates a huge problem, another certified mechanic told News 8. "I need an interpreter to talk to these people," he said. "They can't read the manuals, they can't write, and I have so many working for me I can't be sure of the work they've done."
To be sure of proper quality, the supervisor has to either re-do the work himself, or take the chance that no mistakes have been made. There is a push to get work out the door and planes back in the air. But when he signs his name to certify the repair for flight, he is legally responsible for it.

The root of the problem is money, mechanics say. A certified mechanic can earn upwards of $25 an hour in Texas. Technicians who can't speak English are often hired for less than $10, according to mechanics interviewed by News 8. "I've been wanting to leave this company since the day I got there," said one certified A&P. "But with the economy the way it is, I've got kids to feed and I have to stay there. I don't want to be anywhere near one of those planes when it kills somebody."

The FAA is supposed to police repair stations, but insiders say the agency is more focused on looking at paperwork than inspecting the facilities. Insiders also say inspectors warn repair stations when they're coming. "In Dallas, most of them would map it out and tell them what day they were going to be there," said Gene Bland, a former FAA inspector. Safety, mechanics say, is at risk. "In my opinion," said one, "company owners should all be locked up because someones going to die eventually, if it hasn't already happened."

Texas' two biggest airlines, American and Southwest, both require mechanics and the technicians who work under them to speak, read and write English.
But mechanics who work elsewhere — whose repairs often end up on commercial airliners — say their shops are filled with non-English speakers.

The FAA declined to be interviewed for this report.

No wonder Speaker Pelosi is a bitch!!

.
Here's the proof, she's bitchy, because she's 180 degrees out from happy!
.
Happiness Is ... Being Old, Male and Republican

.
Americans grow happier as they age, surveys find. And a new Pew Research Center survey shows the tendency is holding up as the economy tanks.

Happiness is a complex thing. Past studies have found that happiness is partly inherited, that Republicans are happier than Democrats and that old men tend to be happier than old women.

And even before the economy got nasty, seniors were found to be generally happier than Baby Boomers. Some of that owes to the American Dream being lived by past generations, while Boomers work two jobs and watch the dream wither.

4 extra tickets

I have four extra tickets for the Robbie Knievel (son of Evil Knievel) event at the Ford Center next weekend in Beaumont, Texas, if anybody wants them.

He's going to try to jump 1,000 Obama supporters with a bulldozer. Should be a good time.

My Man, Joe Biden

I mean, is this guy great, or what? Personally, i look at VP Joe (plugs) Biden as God's gift to Conservatives. I'm almost sorry i didn't vote for him when he ran for the WH. This guy's a riot. He's a laugh-a-minute! And the best part of this story is that he was burned by Eleanor Clift, one of the biggest Leftists in the MSM. I just love it!

Of course, if you're president Yomama, or one of the congressional Demoncrats, you probably have a somewhat different opinion. In fact, i'll bet the name "Vince Foster" comes up a lot when Dumbocrats talk privately about what to do with this VP. Me? I say make the guy president! We all need a good laugh...

Yellowstone Whiz Kids

The world is their urinal...

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Two seasonal Yellowstone National Park concessionaire employees have been fired after they were caught urinating into the iconic Old Faithful geyser.
~
The geyser was not erupting at the time.
~
The Old Faithful geyser was unaffected by the incident.

I have to ask... Was that last sentence really necessary - or are there actually people out there who are dense enough to believe you can affect a geyser by peeing in it?

Sheesh.
