CPAC

.
FLASH!! CPAC attendees come to their GD senses!!

.
Ron Paul was the winner of the CPAC straw poll yesterday, beating Mitt Romney, who won the last three, including that all important one in 2008, before the 2008 Primaries. Many of us here think Paul is THE best national choice for President and supported him in 2008. Hopefully we'll see more of Ron Paul between now and the 2012 primaries. Enough, I think, to make him a viable candidate.
.
But look at the poll,
.
Paul won. Romney was 2nd, Palin was 3rd, Pawlenty 4th, and Pence is 5th. Query, how does Romney get in that group? And why, in the face of Town Halls and the Tea Party, would anyone vote for Romney? He's NOT what the people are looking for, and how does CPAC ever vote for Romney? I just don't see him as being all that conservative.

They were talking about this on Fox this morning, with Chris Wallace saying how Ron Paul came in first, then "smirked" saying something like, he didn't understand how that could be. Even some of the alleged conservatives on TV treat Paul like some kind of odd-ball. I hope he makes them eat their words!

Ron who?

Spider,
I heard that too. But I thought he meant given how Mitt Romney won the last three, he didn't understand the win. I read. at Fox, that when Paul's win was announced, there was booing.

I question just how conservative the CPAC attendees are.

Anon,
Ron 'hopefully your next President' PAUL.

Personally, i question just how conservative Fox is. (I don't/have never believed they are) Apparently, the feeling in the MSM (all of the MSM) is that Ron is a joke. Of course, the Left usually creates that image when they're afraid of someone, as with Palin.

Ron Paul is not a joke, but!!! did he not say that the foreign policy of the US of A brought on the 9-11 attack?
From What I have read of Mr. Paul he is an isolationist.
If is an ardent Libertarian why is he running as a Repub?

Pastor, IMO, 9/11 was the result of us being in a religious war with radical Islam and not taking it seriously. In fact, we still don't because the American mindset of the 21st century is not equipped to understand a war based on 10th century beliefs.

Also, there are "plenty" of people who feel our foreign policy, that is, minding everyone elses business and going around the world telling people how they should live, has created many enemies for us. But in most cases, we cover them with our money so their hatred is not always visible. But it's there.

"Charity begins at home". Or at least it should.

Spider I disagree with "plenty" of people who hold those views. I contend that they don't hate us for what we have done, but simply for who we are. In the early days of this nation we had no "foreign policy" to speak of. Yet we had to defend our citizens from kidnapping by the sultans (Muslims) of Tripoli. Those same sultans did not hate us for our actions but simply because we were not muslim. Our marine anthem mentions this "from the halls of Montezuma to shores of Tripoli".
Also to have a presence in the world is not charity - it is a necessity for our own security. Do you want to fight them there or here? Please don't build straw men in order tear them down.
