Pennsylvania parents are suing their son's school, alleging it watched him through his laptop's webcam while he was at home and unaware he was being observed.
Michael and Holly Robbins of Penn Valley are suing the Lower Merion School District, its board of directors and the superintendent. The parents allege the district unlawfully used its ability to access a webcam remotely on their son's district-issued laptop computer.
The lawsuit seeking class-action status was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
The suit said that on November 11, an assistant principal at Harriton High School told the plaintiffs' son that he was caught engaging in "improper behavior" in his home and it was captured in an image via the webcam.
.And we thought some of the other school districts were over stepping their authority, by suspending kids for their Facebook entries. These morons, literally, went "Big Brother" in this kids life.
.
I hope they send the Board and anyone who knew this was even a possibility to prison. Anyone who knew it could be done and didn't report it is also guilty IMHO. I believe that's knowingly hiding the possibility of an upcoming crime. Put them all UNDER the jail.
.
And IF they admittedly watched Johnny spanking his primate, isn't that Child Porn?!!
.
It's your turn, tun it on.

Actually, i heard this story reported on last nights news, and they said it is a wide-spread practice. Not what the kid was doing, but what the school did.
Of course, the school will argue that it's their computer, so they have the "right". Well, they'll try that until the lawyers show up. If this is not a clear case of invasion of privacy, i don't know what is!
I would LOVE to know what the "inappropriate conduct" in his own home was.
If they'd had that technology back when I was a schoolboy, and I was on the wrong end of the spyglass, my father would have kicked that school down around the principal's ass and the town would have approved.
The silly hypocrite liberals SCREAMED FOR YEARS about Bush wanting to eavesdrop on terrorists - but those same bastards applaud this kind of 'big brother' action.
If you ever wondered why I hate liberalism with a passion, this is a prime example.
Jimbo,
most kids keep their laptop in their bedroom. Unless he's building bombs in there, it was either lone sex, or partnered sex, or group sex. Otherwise, the inappropriate behavior would have been named. It could have been boy on boy sex too, I guess.
The school would see that as inappropriate, the kids don't now, but the school most certainly would. I also think if it was drugs, the school would have said so.
Um, the behavoir was, um, named, kinda. He was doing what most young guys do when they get home from a date with a virgin.
