stimulus waste in the name of the public good

http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/05/20/its-your-land-fighting-for-the-family-farm/

Ok, I did a little fuzzy math here to see the actual cost. I call it fuzzy because there are no variables, only hard numbers.....not what is normally used in today's government.

$8 million / (40 cars x 365 days) = $547.94 per car
small customs office required 4 personnel per day. Miniumum pay is $36,658/year (http://www.cbp.gov/)
Factoring a 260 day work year, averages to $140.45 per day x 4 pers = $561.81per day to build and run the office. / 40 cars = $14.04per car

Total cost $561.98 per vehicle per day.

The U.S. averages 660,000 non-commercial legal passenger border crossings per day. San Diego accounts for 104,399 per day. (notice I said legal crossings)
San Diego - 15.8%
Franklin, Vermont - 0.0006%

Franklin Vermont is 9 miles down county road 235, paralleling Interstate 89 or 7 miles down county road 118 to State highway 78. I estimate 400 man minutes or 6.5 man hours are saved per day by crossing at Franklin. At double minimum wage, $99.99 is saved by businesses every day by their employees being able to cross at Franklin.....this assumes that every crossing consists of people coming to and from work and none on vacation or visiting aunt Betty.

If San Diego had the relatively same expense, it would cost $5.9 million per day to operate the border crossing (with only 4 agents). That is $2.153 Billion per year for just that one ineffient crossing point! That is 22.6% of the national immigration and border budget!!! (http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/rewrite/budget/fy2009/homeland.html)

So, the American people are expected to foot the bill of over $500 per car for 40 people to save 10 minutes on their shopping trip to the mall, which is more easily located by taking the Freeway in the first place.

Now lets look at the unemployment benefits that will be attained by employing 90 people for 6 months to build the facility......assuming less than half of the skilled labor required can be found in the local area and not imported, as well as assuming these people are formerly unemployed and changed status when the job starts...... aw, never mind.

Aside from the fact that this is a gross example of government domain running amock, can somebody please tell me how this is beneficial to the American people in any shape or form? How does spending that much money for no purpose truly help the economy 12 months from now? The article doesn't mention how much money can be saved by closing the checkpoint in Franklin. Eminant domain is supposed to be for the "greater good." It doesn't matter how I twist, mold, reflect, hold in my right hand and stand to the left, I can't make this one make sense in any way.

This move will obviously create jobs because it takes lots of people to count all that money that's being wasted. Besides, Butch Napilitano said it's a good idea. Isn't that enough for you?

If anyone had any doubts as to whether Odumbo is the most anti-American president we've had, that little show he put on for the Mex president should firmly put those doubts to rest. For him to stand there with that foreigner and insult not just America, but the American people, was truly despicable! But i'll bet it made his fat-ass wife happy. If he were in one of the Marxist countries that he so loves, he would be taken out and hanged for that insult.
