I'm no economist, so please will one of you college edge-yu-mah-cated types tell, what generally happens when the guy holding your notes is short of money? Does he pressure you for the money? Does he just back off, and take his lumps? Or, given that he's actually an outright enemy, will he set about destroying you, economically, without firing a shot?!

This is yet another reason I'm moving to the boonies. I want to be out of town when what's left of my money becomes totally worthless. I'll have some food and some gold coins. Gold is never worthless.

I've got news for you. China set about destroying us a long time ago. But i think they've become smart enough to realize they won't need an army to do it. In fact, all they need do is sit back and watch us destroy ourselves.

I get that. But my point was, will they ACCELERATE that in an effort to save their own hides!? The Chinese kanji symbol for danger, is exactly the same as the one for opportunity. I do have a further thought.
What's the fallout for "willfully defaulting"? We just walk away from the debt like the people who are walking away from their mortgages?
That's hard to say Steve, since a large part of their economy is based on this nation of fools buying all the poisoned crap they send here. So i doubt they'll be in any big hurry to call in the loans, unless of course, they start going down. But they do have a huge edge over us since they need a whole lot less money than we do to get by. (most of their money goes to their military)
I would love to know the truth about how much of this country they actually own. How many ports, roads, bridges, property, businesses, etc. I think the "factual" answer would scare the crap out of the American people.
As for us not repaying our loans? Personally, that's exactly what i'd do. "Sorry guys, we can't pay you back. Now what" Hell, we're about the only country who does pay it's international bills! But don't hold your breath. Remember, we're the fools who always play by the rules, which gives the rest of the world some great laughs.

For the longest time I realized that any attempt from China to destroy us economically would ba suicide attack. Kind of like a loan shark making a habit of killing his debtors, they'd never get paid back and would be royally screwed. So what, i ask myself, happens when China is on it's way down and knows it has nothing to lose?
