The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review.
In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch's request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws.
"Importantly, and in addition, the administration also is exploring other options that might be available to address concerns with the college football postseason," Weich wrote, including asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the legality of the BCS under consumer protection laws.
Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the championship game.

let me be clear, the programs I have a problem with, are disability for MFers who get caught drawing AND working, and they get a choice of continuing to work OR draw. If you get caught cheating ANY program, you should lose your benefits, until your jail time is done anyway. Then you should have to go through the system again to re-establish a true need.
I'm the same way about ANY program that gets cheated. You've NEVER heard me talk badly about social welfare programs in here, because I don't do it, ever. And honestly, I don't qualify this by race either, if you're a white cheat, your WHITE ass should go to jail. This economic catastrophe happened under the watch of both democratic and republican majorities, but was caused by democrat (read, liberal) policies. Hey, the facts don’t lie, so let’s talk in facts, shall we? Deficit under Bush, pre-democrat takeover in 06? 300-ish billion. Deficit under Bush POST-democratic takeover in 06? $450-ish million.
Deficit under a democratic supermajority and democratic executive branch? Last I read it was pushing 3 trillion, but those are old numbers. He may have laid down another trill or so since I checked last (and, if he’d gotten his way, it would be a hell of a lot higher, because we’d have another couple trillion to spread out over 10 years for the health care thing). So let’s take the worst numbers under Bush and compare.

Actually, I am a libertarian. I have no love for social conservatism, and I certainly am not a fan of the republicans, in general. As far as Steve getting his disability check is concerned, I would very much like to repeal that system and replace it with private responsibility to ensure that each bread-winner in a family holds disability insurance that they pay for with the money they save by not having to pay into SSA.
That being said, Steve, and many like him, made the decision to not hold disability insurance because they were paying their part in a government system, and the cost of that coupled with the cost of paying for private disability insurance was just too great to bear.
Like Steve said, if the government would have allowed him to keep his money, he would have been fine without it, but because participation is mandatory, the government has made him, and many like him, dependent upon it when he would just as soon not be.
It is for this reason that I am against governmental entitlement programs. If Steve had held a private disability policy, as I do, he would be getting a hell of a lot more than $1,208 bucks a month, it would be, in the case of the policy that i hold, 80% of his salary at the time of injury, in perpetuity, with cost of living increases adjusted to inflation. That, I assure you, would be a lot more than $1,208 a month.
Also, my disability policy costs me much less per month than what I pay into SSA disability, so once again, the private enterprise, left to it's own devices, is less costly and pays better.
But the government plan is not optional, and reduces men like Steve to being FORCED to be on it's roles because of it's mindless, heartless ukases.
Government is not the answer friend, and when it is made our only choice by fiat, we all suffer for it. That you cannot see that is either symbolic of your willingness to ignore the truth, or your incapability to understand that men must be free, if only because nothing else can be. Your "freebies" from the government are far from free. Assuming that you are employed, have you looked at your pay stub to see how much you pay every week for inefficient government services that you probably do not use?
Have you then compared the cost of the same services if they were to be purchased privately?
