A coalition of health professionals, parents and corporate accountability advocates is calling for Ronald McDonald to retire as a spokesman for the nation's largest restaurant chain, saying he has too much influence on kids.
Corporate Accountability International, which has waged campaigns against bottled water companies and tobacco companies, said it plans to present the results of a survey Wednesday showing that most Americans agree.
The group will release the results at a lunch-time "retirement party" for Oak Brook-based McDonald's Chief Happiness Officer, a 50-year veteran of the company, at the McDonald's restaurant at Chicago Avenue and State Street in Chicago. The organization -- which was also behind the effort to retire Joe Camel from Camel cigarettes -- is inviting Chicagoans to sign retirement cards for the mascot at the McDonald's. The event is one of nearly two dozen similar ones to be held at McDonald's restaurants and colleges across the country that day, according to Corporate Accountability International spokesman Nick Guroff.

I'm old, and my memory is fading, but it seems to me that long ago, parents would tell children stupid stuff like, "...Johnnie, you can't just eat burgers and fries, it's not healthy", or maybe it was, "...but Janie, we had BK for lunch, just yesterday. Today we need a better lunch...", and there was always the popular, '..and if you say cheeseburger, french fries, coke, pizza, chili dog or chicken nugget again, I'll pull this car over and beat your ass, and you'll go to bed HUNGRY!!! GOT IT!!? We're going home to eat dinner, end of story!! Now sit there and shut...the...hell...UP! "

Yet another attack in the great and ongoing culture war by the "PC'ers", who of course, always know what's best for you. And as always, their favorite weapon is "the children".
So what lessons are being taught to the kids? Not to eat too much so-called junk food? Where i come from, that was the job of the parents, not another group of bleeding-heart know-it-alls. IMO, people who can't/won't teach their kids what's right and wrong shouldn't be allowed to have any kids.
This attack on MacD's, aside from being another assault on our liberty, freedom of choice, and the free market system, just pushes us a step closer to censorship of things that "are deemed" to be wrong by the all-knowing PC'ists. Personally, i find it rather odd how these Fascists find it offensive to see a kid eating a hamburger, but applaud when they see some quack murdering an unborn child at an abortion clinic.
I just wonder what our world will look like when they get done "cleansing" it. Worse yet, what will our kids look like.

I'm wondering why they've gone after RM, but NOT the myriad school systems that serve this crap for breakfast and lunch? NOR the schools that have sodas, crap and BS in machines that the schools profit off of?
