Soros warns Europe of disintegration
.
The eurozone area and wider European Union is now “on the brink” of disintegration unless Germany steps up and provides loans at below-market rates to Greece, George Soros, the hedge fund manager, has warned.
“It is 50-50 whether the eurozone breaks up. The damage that break up would cause is so great, that I think that as people realise it, they will pull back from the brink,” Soros told the Financial Times in an interview. “But we are at the brink now...a solution has to be found in a matter of days.”Mr Soros’s comments on the fringes of a conference in Cambridge came as Dominique Strauss Kahn, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund spoke of the fiscal challenges facing all advanced economies and the need for a European Budgetary Authority to underpin the euro.
“The launching of the euro was only a first step. You can’t have a single currency without having a more coordinated economic policy,” Mr Strauss Kahn said.
Before any longer-term solution can be found, Mr Soros insisted Germany must step up to the plate. “Greece is willing to take the steps and has taken steps which are necessary to get through this crisis. Now Europe has to do its part to help Greece through,” he said.
“Unfortunately there are problems with Germany because it does not want to be the deep pockets helping out the profligate southerners which got into trouble. [But] if that is the case, the euro is in danger and the European union is in danger. I just hope that Germany will be helpful.”
“Is there the political will to keep Europe together? If there is not I think that there will be a process of disintegration.”
.Personally, it would help us AND Europe if they dissolved the EU. Both sides could abolish a zillion rules, regulations and nonsensical trade problems. Anyone who doesn't understand that Norway and Greece cannot operate under ONE set of farming and economic rules, is too stupid to be allowed to make the rules. George Soros is that man. And you can be sure, whether the EU stays or goes, he'll make money on it.
.
Oddly, when Soros makes money, it's not evil or tainted and there are no losers. An odd situation, for a hedge fund manager. A scheme that REQUIRES both winners and losers. I'm guessing that Ol' George has sitting over an empire designed to steal from rich Republicans and funnel the money to the poor, inner city, minorities who are invested in hedge funds.
.
Uh huh, and monkeys might fly outta my butt too.

Soros reminds me of Ming The Merciless, from the old Flash Gordon serials. I doubt anyone would know about that other than perhaps, Stevie? In any event, he was the original super-villain, who lusted for world domination, just like comrade Soros, and his Marxist dupe, Odumbo.
Bill would, Bill would!!! I'm not the only other old fart in here!! I'm betting Jimbo, though younger, knows this character.
Soros reminds more of Jabba the Hut. Fat, loathsome, not a speck of humanity, and only worried about profits.
Of course Soros wants Greece bailed out since he didn't short the Euro. I'm guessing he's feeling badly about making $1 billion shorting the British Pound around 20 years ago.
I'm not quite that old, even tho AARP keeps sending me all sorts of crap.
George Soros must be the Algore's mentor. These folks are extremely evil gathering riches not only at the expense of others, but doing so through lying and deceiving on such a grand scale that Bernie Madoff is appaulled.
BTW, where is our resident commie asshole? I feel like slapping an idiot around.
C-Bug,
surely you suggest that someone as interested in the poor and disadvantaged, like GS, would MAKE money off of someone's losses!!?
He's a hypocrite, at best, a liar at worst. But a manipulating bastard either way.
No, Steve old bud, Bill would not know who Ming was. He's way too young. I'm afraid that just leaves you and i.
BTW, the original Flash Gordon, which stared Buster Crabe, is one hell of a series, even by todays standards. It was made back in the late 30's and early 40's, and introduced audiences to some really futuristic stuff that was at the time, beyond understanding, like personal communication devices, (cell phones) and "ray-guns"! (lasers) Hell, they even had rock groups! No, not the tattooed junkies you see on stage today. These guys were made of real rocks!
I remember the Flash Gordon serials - but of course I only saw them in re-runs on TV, not in the movie theaters. I agree with Steve that Soros is more like Jabba the Hut, although he has similariltes to Ming the Merciless.
Does he wear Prada?
