I'm not sure he's the first to weaken us. Just the latest. And oddly, third Dumbocrat in a row. Carter, Clinton and Obama all did, or are doing it.
Obama has pushed us further left than either of the others. And God help me, but I don't think Hitlary is this far left.
He is the most radical president we've ever had, and will (if he survives) do far more damage than all the others combined.

The biggest attack ever occurred when the tough guy republicans were in charge. While bush was at the ranch 89 days out of his first 9 months, ignoring the security briefings and pretending to be reagan, the attack was carried out with great skill and precision.
After spending TRILLIONS on "defense" over the years, the American military couldn't manage to stop a few guys with boxcutters from taking down the WTC. The attack was so successul it allowed for an attack on the very heart of that TRILLION DOLLAR "defense", the Pentagon.
SO much for republicans and their record of defending us.
The only good thing to come out of it was the loss of hundreds of greedy repuhblican bond traders working in the WTC. If only the attacks would have taken out Goldman Sachs, AIG and the rest of Wall Street, we'd be so much better off.

Clinton gutted the CIA so there was little intelligence.
Nobody would have been able to stop this at the time; this was not a Republican/Democratic issue.. This was an anti-American attack.
Clinton only was effective as a President once Gingrich came in with his "contract with America" AND the timing was such thatwe were experiencing a technical and communications revolution. (again non-partisan other than this was 100% from the private sector). Low taxes andcapitalism ruled the day.

A country that spent TRILLIONS on defense (over $800 billion just this year) over the years and was attacked so effectively and completely is not one with an adequate defense.
Now, in conservative world, if something, say anti-poverty programs, isn't 100% successful they want to scrap it. Yet we devote even more money every year to "defense" that has proven ineffective.
Again, the bigest attack occurred while a REPUBLICAN was lounging at the ranch in Texas.

That does not entitle the left to spend a trillion dollars on crap, then spend more on a gub'ment entitlement program nobody wants for a group of people it won't help, all the while exempting themselves in the process. I think you're partly right here. There were Republicans too who thought technology would replace spooks on the ground. It cost thousands of Americans their lives. And in that it was NYC, the majority of people killed were most likely support staff who generally are NOT Republicans. There are a dozen, roughly, support people for every trader.
And regardless of how people vote, what makes you wish people are dead? That's the biggest difference I see in US and YOU. I hardly ever see conservatives looking for harm on other Americans. Enemies of our country, yep, that I see and say. But the idea of gloating over your POLITICAL opposites deaths is wrong dude, just not modern, educated thought.
To see Bin Laden's head on a pike would be a good thing. Because he'll only stop attacking us when he's dead. But I want Pelosi, Reid, Obama out of office, not dead. You want people dead. I'm fairly sure you won't see the differences in my ideals and yours, you haven't so far.
