The Dumbest Congressional Idea of 2011!

LinkI'm not sure yet, WHO the three Republicans are who voted against this, but THEY are the only one's who should be allowed to get re-elected. The other 97 (D)'s and (R)'s need to GO!

The bloody drug war in Mexico shows no sign of relenting. Neither do calls for tighter border security amid rising fears of spillover violence.

This hardly seems a time the U.S. would be willing to allow people to cross the border legally from Mexico without a customs officer in sight. But in this rugged, remote West Texas terrain where wading across the shallow Rio Grande undetected is all too easy, federal authorities are touting a proposal to open an unmanned port of entry as a security upgrade.

By the spring, kiosks could open up in Big Bend National Park allowing people from the tiny Mexican town of Boquillas del Carmen to scan their identity documents and talk to a customs officer in another location, at least 100 miles away.

The crossing, which would be the nation's first such port of entry with Mexico, has sparked opposition from some who see it as counterintuitive in these days of heightened border security. Supporters say the crossing would give the isolated Mexican town long-awaited access to U.S. commerce, improve conservation efforts and be an unlikely target for criminal operations.

"People that want to be engaged in illegal activities along the border, ones that are engaged in those activities now, they're still going to do it," said William Wellman, Big Bend National Park's superintendent. "But you'd have to be a real idiot to pick the only place with security in 300 miles of the border to try to sneak across."

Gee, that last sentence makes it all OK. No one would ever try to come across the 'protected' areas. I guess that's why they NEVER catch drug or gun runners actually at a Border Patrol Guarded Crossing.
.
But here's the bottom line, they've proposed to open the border and hold US indefinitely as terrorists with no recourse, ALL in the same week. Is THIS the country ANY of us took an oath to protect?

Then we wonder why the whole world sees us as nothing more than a joke.

We all know the Marxist-in-Chief and his radical administration will do everything in their power to get every person from south of the border (not just Mexico) into this country, and hopefully get them some kind of legalization in time to vote in 2012. Blacks, who make up about 12% of the population, are not enough. That's why Obummer spends so much time pandering to the so-called Spanish vote.

IMO, there's only one person in the running for 2012 who would actually do something to stop the southern invasion, and that's Ron Paul.

I'm in agreement on him being the best choice. Unfortunately, he's not viable IMHO. Most Americans are just not smart enough, and don't know enough about their own country/ our history / our Constitution to see him as the best.

Anybody who thinks the sheeple are gonna pull our fat, by electing smart people, outta the firs is fooling themselves! Everyday that goes by shows me that we're probably in a situation where we 'need' some sort of collapse to get people thinking and voting. I'm not sure that voting will do it. Maybe we need 4 or 5 people killed at the WH (terrorists?) so the Speaker of the House can become President.

Boehner is no Ron Paul, but from seeing him on Fox, I think he's a good listener. Obama's BIG failing is that he's so sure he's the smartest guy in the room that he doesn't 'need' his Secretaries or Advisers.

(is it me, or has this place become a dialogue between me and you again? I could call you when I want to talk about something, and it would save my fingers for something more important like picking my nose!)

I totally agree with you, except the part about Boehner. I think he's a weakling. He (IMO) doesn't have Newt's smarts or strength, but Paul does.

And yes, once again, it's getting pretty lonely around here, not that i don't enjoy our discussions, but where the hell is everybody? Has Annie's lived too long? Can two old guys keep this thing going alone?

Hey bud, i guess they're lucky (?) we don't live closer, else we could be doin this in person over a couple of cold ones. And that would be the end of Annie's.

I've wondered if Annie's will soon go "the way of all the earth", it will be sad if it does.
On the other hand, I am glad that when I stop by, you guys are still here.
