A Passing

Last US World War I veteran Frank Buckles dies aged 110

Frank Woodruff Buckles, the last known US veteran of World War I, died Sunday at age 110, the Richmond Times Dispatch reported.

A family spokesman told the newspaper that Buckles had died peacefully at his farm near Charles Town, West Virginia.

The last known American veteran who served in World War I was said to be in great spirits earlier this month as he celebrated his 110th birthday at his farmhouse with his daughter and his 24-hour-a-day caregivers.

Buckles enlisted in the US Military at age 16 and joined the ambulance service. He was sent to England in late 1917, before heading to France in 1918.

By World War II, Buckles was no longer serving in the military, but was taken prisoner by the Japanese while working in the steamship business in the Philippines, and held for over three years.

.
A simple question. In 100 years, will anyone mourn the death of the LAST Iraq / Afghan War Veteran?

The head of one of the US’s biggest industrial groups has launched a scathing attack on Barack Obama’s attempts to repair relations with companies, dubbing him “anti-business”.

Manufacturers could shift production out of the US to Canada or Mexico as a result, warned George Buckley, chief executive and chairman of 3M.

“I judge people by their feet, not their mouth,” he told the Financial Times. “We know what his instincts are – they are Robin Hood-esque. He is anti-business.”

The Obama administration has struck a more conciliatory tone towards business since the Democratic defeat in November’s midterm elections.

Last month, the president created a jobs and competitiveness council, chaired by Jeffrey Immelt, chief executive of GE, and including chief executives such as American Express’s Kenneth Chenault, DuPont’s Ellen Kullman, Antonio Perez of Kodak and Southwest Airlines’ Gary Kelly. Mr Obama also convened a meeting this month with technology chief executives, including Steve Jobs of Apple, Google’s Eric Schmidt, Oracle’s Larry Ellison and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook.

Mr Buckley, who has run the diversified manufacturer since 2005, said: “There is a sense among companies that this is a difficult place to do business. It is about regulation, taxation, seemingly anti-business policies in Washington, attitudes towards science.”

.
Anyone who has ever run a business or been a in the front office for a week, knows that government regulation is a DAILY topic. And the fact that America no longer has manufacturing jobs BUT the companies who once did manufacturing here STILL exist for the most part, means jobs CAN come back here.
.
However, the jug eared boob in the WH won't listen and no one will call his hand on this kind of thing.

A Nation Of Laws?

Or, should it read "A Nation of Laws. Sometimes" . And if we are a nation of laws, should not those laws apply to everyone, including (and especially) the Marxist-in-Chief ? It is becoming quite clear to many people that this president doesn't seem to care much about following the law, or the Constitution, when his Marxist agenda is involved. In fact, if he were a Republican, Leftists and their MSM would be howling for his IMPEACHMENT!

A few months ago, some of our friends here were discussing a hypothetical question. "What happens if Obummer refuses to surrender power if he loses in 2012"? And since he's decided to simply sweep Congress aside when they balk at doing what he wants, ignoring a federal court order to resume drilling in the Gulf, allowing Black Panthers to "openly" violate the voting rights laws, could he be somehow telling us what's ahead? Sound crazy? You bet it does, but he's done a lot of things these last 2 1/2 years that we would've thought crazy for a POTUS to do before he showed up. Are we being given yet another warning of his intentions that most of the country will ignore?

Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, nope, just plain damned stupid!

Here, fellow malcontents, are two articles that show that we, as a country, have our gub'mental heads stuck in our tax payer asses.
.
U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., said today that Boeing Co. won a
$35 billion contract to build an air refueling tanker due to "Chicago politics."

Chicago-based Boeing defeated the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. for the contract. EADS planned to assemble the tanker in Mobile.

“I’m disappointed but not surprised," Shelby said. "Only Chicago politics could tip the scales in favor of Boeing’s inferior plane. EADS clearly offers the more capable aircraft. If this decision stands, our warfighters will not get the superior equipment they deserve.”

.
Given the sensitivity of military secrets and the low economy, FOREIGN companies should NEVER be considered for military contracts. Hell, we can't keep our secrets secret when WE control them, how can we trust someone in another country!!
.
Tens of millions flock to the Smithsonian museums in Washington each year to see Americana -- everything from Abraham Lincoln's top hat to Archie Bunker's chair.
.
But one thing you'll have a hard time finding is something American in the gift shop.

Take the miniature sculptures of presidents sold at the National Museum of American History, located right on the Mall in the nation's capital.

From the busts of George Washington to Barack Obama, they were made in China.

Last month Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, was so outraged by the situation that he fired off a letter demanding that the museum sell products made in the USA.

"It appears that a museum owned by the people of the United States, celebrating the history of the United States, cannot find companies in this country employing American workers that are able to manufacture statues of our founding fathers, or our current president," Sanders said in a letter to the museum.

"That is pretty pathetic!" he exclaimed. "I was not aware that the collapse of our manufacturing base had gone that far."

.
And if the government looks outside the cuntry for everything from trinkets to military hardware, we'll NEVER get back on track.

Third, are the primaries legal? Notice that the article never says 'illegal alien'. Perhaps my local CBS affiliate avoided that issue.
.
Raleigh man accused of heading fake documents ring

.
A Raleigh man oversaw a multi-state operation that supplied phony Social Security cards and other documents to illegal immigrants and funneled the profits back to Mexico, according to a federal indictment unsealed Thursday in Richmond.

Israel Cruz Millan, 28, placed managers in cities in 11 states, from Massachusetts to Arkansas, who then oversaw groups of "runners" who drummed up business for the operation and facilitated transactions with customers.

The cost of fraudulent documents varied on the location, with counterfeit green cards and Social Security cards typically selling for $150 to $200. Each cell maintained detailed sales records and divided the proceeds between the runner, the cell manager and upper-level managers in Mexico.

The indictment states that members of the organization wired more than $1 million to Mexico between January 2008 and last November 2010.

Cruz Millan, who also is known as "El Muerto," used violence to intimidate competitors and control the fake documents trade in various cities, according to the indictment.

On Oct. 29, for example, he used a teleconference to broadcast the beating of a runner in Raleigh who he thought had stolen money and fake Social Security cards from the operation, according to the indictment.

"During the call, the listeners could hear sounds of the victim screaming as a result of the beating," the indictment states.

.
Nice guys, huh?

Too much time on his hands.

WH: Obama still 'grappling' with gay marriage
.
The White House says President Barack Obama is "grappling" with his personal views on gay marriage even as he's ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of a law that bans it.

The Justice Department announced Wednesday that, at Obama's direction, it would not defend the Defense of Marriage Act in a court case where it's being challenged.

Spokesman Jay Carney said Obama has always opposed the Defense of Marriage Act as "unnecessary and unfair." But Carney said there's no change to how Obama views gay marriage itself.

.
Yeah, that's all he has on his plate.

Doing God's Work

Doing God's work is a noble calling, until that is, you're captured by murderous pirates. In that case, you have to hope God is available to help. For the four bible-thumpers on their yacht, HE, as often happens, was apparently busy elsewhere while they were slaughtered.

Now unlike my buddy Steve, i'm not a sailor by any stretch of the imagination. I'm also not an expert when it comes to the so-called Law of The Sea, other than what i've seen in old Errol Flynn movies. But, when it comes to knowing the consequences of allowing wild bands of animals to prey on innocent people without the slightest fear of "real " punishment, then i am an expert. The results are always the same. They don't stop, they simply get worse, especially when they see that the prey refuse to even protect themselves, and the military "protection" they have is all but useless. A few months ago, i watched a TV special on a Swedish war ship patrolling the area. They actually came across a large rowboat filled with armed pirates. They checked the rowboat, took the weapons, gave the pirates water, fuel, and cigarettes, and sent them back to Somalia! How's that for punishment.

This time, the victims were Americans, so what does that mean? Well, for one thing, it means the captured pirates are already laughing, like the one convicted last week. He was convicted in a NYC court room, the same as a guy convicted of going through a red light. The news reports said that after the four people were killed, navy SEALS went aboard and actually killed two of the pirates. Two out of 15, which tells you that the SEALS were, as usual, handcuffed. It also tells the pirates back in Somalia that they still have nothing to fear, unless that is, they run into a Russian war ship. You can bet they'll be staying far away from those. And what of the US? Now that the pirates see there's really nothing to fear from the big paper tiger of the West, they'll be out there looking for more Americans...

...so I'm reading this history book...

...here's the set up, post Civil War, Reconstruction, Southern DEMOCRATS, having lost the war, are attempting to regain their pre-war control, especially control over blacks. Grant is President, Custer was just killed, and outrage is high over "injuns' running amok. The Klan is underground, but just barely, troops previously stationed in the south to ensure safety and stability, are headed west to round up 'injuns'. Blacks and REPUBLICANS in the south see quickly that without the troops they'll be under the thumb of the Klan and DEMOCRATS, both of whom use VIOLENCE to enforce their ideal. Northerners are tired of keeping the peace down south.
.
(now here's the interesting part, and this is exact from the book page 388, of "A Patriots History of the United States)
.
and I quote,
.
Democrats and Southerners had learned an important lesson about the press: no matter how grievous the the charge, deny it; then commit another wanton act, and the first behavior will be forgotten in the storm over the new one.
.
Now I ask you, in light of Fannie & Freddie, Wrangles 'trial' for stealing and lying, Al Franken getting elected, Obama's birth certificate going to SCOTUS, Wisconsin teachers California's budget, blah, blah, blah...what is that they do DIFFERENT today, than they did 1876?! And how the hell do SOOO many people get fooled by these assholes!?
.
And as much as I hate to say this, I think the country WILL survive this current pile of trouble. But I think we may lose our status at the top of the heap.

Mommy, is this a Church, or a Mosque?

First let me say, I am a Christian. I believe in and try to live a Christian life. I attempt daily to love, and pray for, my fellow man. (I most often find myself in the same dilemma as Linus, from the Peanuts comic strip, I love Mankind, it's PEOPLE I can't stand!) Having said that all that, I am not, at my core, Evangelical.
.
I struggle enough with MY life that I do not try to convert others to my thoughts and beliefs. I do on the other hand again, help anyone who needs help. Sometimes that is monetary help. I've even said before, that I don't have my CCH, JUST for MY protection. Being both a Christian and an old hippy, I completely believe in doing what I can to help, nurture and generally take care of humanity. I do not limit that to white, middle-class, Christians who drive the same color truck I do, as do some people we all see daily.
.
But I have limits to what I consider 'help'. My helping someone will always take into consideration the general well being of the rest of us. I don't 'help' a drunk by going to get them a case of liquor, and I wouldn't loan them my car! I wouldn't help a paranoid schizophrenic protect himself by buying him a gun. I wouldn't help a newly formed group of Muslims by loaning them my church. I wouldn't help someone...

WHAT? Go back to that Muslim thing? Why? Is there a huge difference there from the rest of what I wrote? OK, I'll go back.

I wouldn't help a newly formed group of Muslims by loaning them my church. But Rev Steve Stone disagrees with me.
.
Steve Stone from Heartsong Church in Cordova, TN is under fire. You see, he recently invited a local muslim congregation to use their sanctuary as a makeshift mosque during Ramadan while their new Islamic Center was under construction.

Seems that Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Arlington, VA is doing kind of the same thing... inviting a local muslim congregation to use church space for their Friday prayers.

According to Cathy Lynn Grossman, the religion editor for USA today, both pastors say that this is a way of 'living out the way of life Jesus calls Christians to live.'

Not everyone thinks this is a good idea, including Pat Robertson (who publicly spoke out against it) or Jason Hood, who wrote a column condemning this over at Christianity Today.
.
Here's a bit from the Christianity Today piece:

Both of the pastors allowing Muslim worship on their property appeal to the love required of Christians as an authoritative guide for their decision-making.

The theological issues at play come down to whether Jesus' love command also requires leaders to avoid causing undue stumbling; or, as Wesley put it, the command to do good works includes avoiding causing or leading others to harm, whether they are believers or unbelievers. Does facilitation of false worship violate the love command?

.
Personally I think it's wrong. For a number of reasons. First and foremost, and as far as I know, All religious buildings are CONSECRATED places of worship. That, to each religion means different things. But each building was built to Worship ONE God. Even Hindus, a religion with, literally, millions of Gods, doesn't generally build temples or altars to but one at a time. That area being consecrated to that ONE God.
.
Given that, IMHO, renting or loaning your CHRISTIAN CHURCH to Muslims is wrong.
.
And I'm that rare American Christian who thinks that Muslims DO worship the One True God. BUT, they've been pulled away by the Devil, to be used as a tool of evil. Of course I'm also a believer, who was raised Roman Catholic, who thinks Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy fall into that same category, and except for Teddy obviously, their religious beliefs are no less dangerous to America than radical Muslims!
.
Let the Mosqueless Muslims do what Christians do when they start out sans facilities, rent a school, a restaurant or a bowling alley for worship.
.
Read the Comments at both links. They are interesting for sure.

Friday Foolishness

Proving once again that no region has a monopoly on idiotry.

Feel like a valedictorian?

I handed the teller at my bank a withdrawal slip for $400.00.
I said "May I have large bills, please"
She looked at me and said "I'm sorry sir, all the bills are the same size."

When I got up off the floor I explained it to her....

IDIOT SIGHTING #1

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to
pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it.

We went to the service department and found a mechanic working
feverishly to unlock the driver side door. As I watched from the
passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered
that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'it's open!'

His reply: 'I know. I already got that side.'

This was at the Ford dealership in Canton, MS.

IDIOT SIGHTING #2

We had to have the garage door repaired.
The Sears repairman told us that one of our problems was that
we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.

I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one Sears made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.

He shook his head and said, 'Lady, you need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4.

He said, 'NO, it's not… Four is larger than two.'

We haven't used Sears repair since.

IDIOT SIGHTING #3

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's take-out window and I gave the clerk a $5 bill.

Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her a quarter.

She said, 'you gave me too much money.'

I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar bill back. She sighed and went to get the manager, who asked me to repeat my request.

I did so, and he handed me back the quarter and said,
'We're sorry but we could not do that kind of thing.'

The manager then proceeded to give me back $1 and 75 cents in change.

Do not confuse the clerks at McD's.

IDIOT SIGHTING #4

I live in a semi rural area.

We recently had a new neighbor call the local township administrative office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING
sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deer are being hit by cars out here!

I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

From Kingman, KS.

IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE #5

My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco.

She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceburg lettuce.

-- From Kansas City.

IDIOT SIGHTING #6
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,

'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'

To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'

He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'

Happened in Birmingham, Ala.

IDIOT SIGHTING #7

The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street.

I was crossing with an intellectually challenged coworker of mine.

She asked if I knew what the buzzer was for.

I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.

Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?'

She was a probation officer in Wichita, KS.

IDIOT SIGHTING #8

At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who was leaving the company due to 'downsizing,' our manager commented cheerfully, 'This is fun. We should do this more often.' Not another word was spoken. We all just looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare.

This was a lunch at Texas Instruments.

IDIOT SIGHTING #9

I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into
itself and for the sake of her life, couldn't understand why her
system would not turn on.

Uh, this IS a game changer, for sure!!!

I'm just posting this to see what is said. But is this SCOTUS trying to save the country? Seems reasonable assumption to me.
.
Stunner! Supremes to give eligibility case another look
.
In a stunning move, the U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled another "conference" on a legal challenge to Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office, but officials there are not answering questions about whether two justices given their jobs by Obama will participate.

The court has confirmed that it has distributed a petition for rehearing in the case brought by attorney John Hemenway on behalf of retired Col. Gregory Hollister and it will be the subject of a conference on March 4.

It was in January that the court denied, without comment, a request for a hearing on the arguments. But the attorney at the time had submitted a motion for Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, who were given their jobs by Obama, to recuse.

Should Obama ultimately be shown to have been ineligible for the office, his actions, including his appointments, at least would be open to challenge and question.

At the time, the Supreme Court acknowledged the "motion for recusal" but it changed it on official docketing pages to a "request." And it reportedly failed to respond to the motion.

.
Challenge and Question? Anything he signed would be Null and Void. It's no more a law than if I had signed it!

OK, then, somebody PLEASE call Hollywood

One of the things that really pisses me off about TV and Movies is the image of southerners as slack-jawed, idiots who live in shacks and who for entertainment drink some home brewed liquor and lynch a few "coons" on Sa'erday nite!
.
Non-southerners are always, witty, urbane and well educated. Yeah, that's totally true. I guess that "Jersey Shores" crowd is an aberration.
.
I've lived here and traveled thoroughly throughout the country and the world. Anyone who thinks racism is alive and well south of the Mason-Dixon line better think again. And there are uneducated idiots everywhere. (go watch Season 2 of "Jersey Shore" in Miami)
.
Personally I find the US vs THEM attitude much more prevalent up north. And it splits up the white community in ways that you just don't see in the south. Very few southern people cling to being German-American, Irish-American, Italian-American, Polish-American, etc. And those groups don't usually like each other in my experience. In fact, in most northern cities those groups self SEGREGATE themselves into ethnic neighborhoods. Likewise, the west coast does this. From the Mexican border to Canada I've seen it. Not something you see in the south at all.
.
Further, having grown up and lived 'down here', there wasn't a KKK meeting everyday, everywhere either, contrary to what we see in entertainment. That's Hollywood bullshit. In fact, the majority of overt racists are Neo-Nazi Skinhead types now, with many holding DUAL Memberships in the Klan and the Skinhead orgs. And they hate or distrust everybody that ain't them! Gee, that sounds like northern and western neighborhoods to me.
.
And if you do the homework, most of the Klan, White-Supremacist, Neo-Nazi groups reside in places like Iowa, Indiana, Idaho, Arkansas, Oregon and Washington. I can tell you THE most racist, in your face, no niggers wanted attitude I ever saw was in a Sumas, WA. Bellingham comes in a close second and Portland is third. (hey, I just realized, that's no where near the South!) Traveling with a business partner, who is black, we were ignored in restaurants, stores and gas stations. They refused to sell to us or give us service. They'd just leave us sitting or go to the next customer. THAT is racism. A mile away in Canada, the idiocy was completely absent.
.
Wondering where all this is going yet? Here's the payoff.
.
In a reversal, more blacks moving back to South
.
The Great Migration, the 60-year escape from segregation and racism that brought American blacks to the North, has reversed course. Better jobs and quality of life in the South are beckoning, as is the lure of something more intangible — a sense of home.

"It's no coincidence that the shift is happening as we encounter economic turmoil that is being felt disproportionately among blacks, such as mortgage foreclosures, loss of jobs and economic devastation in major Northern hubs," said Hilary Shelton, director of the NAACP's Washington bureau. "With major changes and less racial devastation in the South, people are finding their way back."

The nation's black population grew by roughly 1.7 million over the last decade. About 75 percent of that growth occurred in the South — primarily metropolitan areas such as Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami and Charlotte, N.C. That's up from 65 percent in the 1990s, according to the latest census estimates. The gains came primarily at the expense of Northern metro areas such as New York and Chicago, which posted their first declines in black population since at least 1980.

Illinois had its first decline in the black population in the state's history, with the number of African-Americans decreasing by 1.3 percent since 2000, according to official 2010 census figures released Tuesday.

In all, about 57 percent of U.S. blacks now live in the South, a jump from the 53 percent share in the 1970s, according to an analysis of census data by William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution. It was the surest sign yet of a sustained reverse migration to the South following the exodus of millions of blacks to the Midwest, Northeast and West in the Great Migration from 1910 to 1970.

"The Great Migration of millions of disenfranchised blacks from the South to Northern cities has now completely turned around," Frey said. "Blacks now look to states like Georgia, Texas and North Carolina as the places with the most promise in the 21st century — a prospect that would have been unimaginable a generation ago."

.
It's not a landslide change, but somebody must have noticed that the south isn't what it once was. Odd that it was the very people who suffered the most, that realized it first. I expect Hollywood to catch up...never.

It's a Foreign Country, not home, it's different over "there".

When I was in the Navy I was taught to respect the morals, culture and traditions of people while visiting foreign countries. I was taught to not go against them or it might cause a problem. A problem for me and the foreign peoples.
.
Evidently that isn't taught to young, blond, females working at CBS prior to visiting countries where women are not quite as free as they are here at home.
.
CBS News correspondent Lara Logan was recovering in a U.S. hospital Tuesday from a sexual attack and beating she suffered while reporting on the tumultuous events in Cairo.

Logan was in the city’s Tahrir Square on Friday after Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down when she, her team and their security “were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration,” CBS said in a statement Tuesday.

The network described a mob of more than 200 people “whipped into a frenzy.”

Separated from her crew in the crush of the violent pack, she suffered what CBS called “a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating.” She was saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers, the network said. The Associated Press does not name victims of a sexual assault unless the victim agrees to it.

She reconnected with the CBS team and returned to the U.S. on Saturday.

.
While I feel sorry for her, I still don't understand why a college educated, reasonably well read person could think a WOMAN would be safe in Cairo with all that going on. There's a reason WHY the Egyptian women were NOT in that crowd. Culturally it's NOT accepted.
.
Here's hoping and praying Ms. Logan heals soon. Physically and emotionally.

But, would this work of she was WHITE?

Work? Where would she find a lawyer to help or a court to listen?
.
A former Agriculture Department employee who was shown in an edited video making what appeared to be racist remarks has sued the conservative blogger who posted the video that led to her dismissal.

Shirley Sherrod said Monday that she is "still reeling" from being ousted in a racial firestorm last July. USDA officials asked Sherrod to resign after blogger Andrew Breitbart posted an edited video of comments she had made in a speech earlier in the year.

The clip showed Sherrod, who is black, telling a local NAACP group that she was initially reluctant to help a white farmer save his farm more than two decades ago, long before she worked for USDA. Missing from the clip was the rest of the speech, which was meant as a lesson in racial healing. Sherrod told the crowd she eventually realized her mistake and helped the farmer save his farm.

.
Now, I re-ask my heading question. Do ex-white racists get a pass? As I recall Trent Lott took an ass beating for stating the obvious, that things WOULD have been different if Strom Thurmond had been elected President. Thurmond outlived his racist roots of Dixiecrat / KKK activity. Lott stepped down for making the statement.
.
Now I'll answer my own question. If you get caught uttering racist shit, live with it. And if it goes badly for the goose for uttering racist shit, just remember the Republican gander named Lott.
.
UPDATE / Addition: I guess what really frosts my ass over this, is that I'm currently reading 'A Patriots Guide to American History". The entire idea of DEMOCRATS being FOR or SUPPORTING anyone who is Negro, Black, Colored, Africa-American, is laughable at best. Here's proof, Sherrod (a black person) was fired by her boss, Obama (a black Democrat person) because he THOUGHT he might get some truth on him!

The Merchants of Hate

If you're a leftist Demoncrat, one of the most dangerous people in America is Republican Rep. Darrell Issa from Mexifornia. Why? Because Rep. Issa is a guy who believes our political system works best in the light of day, an idea the Left finds frightening, especially since they've been running the country in the dark for the last 3 or 4 years. But thanks to the American people, last November's mid-term elections gave Darrell Issa the power to turn the lights on and the Left is scared to death.

As i've said many times, one of the Left's oldest and most effective tools is their ability and willingness to demonize anyone or anything they fear. And when you control the MSM, that task isn't too difficult. We've seen many examples of this tactic, such as what they've done to Sarah Palin, her family, Rush Limbaugh, Beck, and many others on the Right, or anyone else even slightly opposed to the Left's agenda. And as always, their most vicious attacks are saved for those they fear the most. Darrell Issa is such a man. He now has the political power to look into places the Left doesn't want looked into, and perhaps find things they don't want found. And, he has the power to start impeachment proceedings if warranted.

Now the Leftist hate machine, made-up of thousands of "patriotic-sounding" organizations and groups, is gearing-up again with (i'm willing to bet) a lot of George Soros money behind them. They know that if Issa starts taking too close a look at the Marxist-in-Chief, not only might he find something, but the radical Left may lose their chance to keep their puppet in the WH for another term. It's not at all surprising that these are the same people who sat quietly by while Rep. Henry (pig-snout) Waxman, a socialist from Mexifornia, spent eight full years investigating, digging into, accusing but never finding anything, and issuing subpoenas to the Bush administration. In fact, it was the only thing he did for eight years. Now, there are other hands controlling DC's light switch. Now there are political careers and political agendas at stake. I just hope Rep. Issa is as strong as i think he is...

Wal-Mart made me steal!!! No yo' Honah, I'z sere'us!

I'm missing something, or at least, I think I must be.
.
When politicians, agency officials and other establishment types discuss the pros and cons of Wal-Mart opening stores in poor, retail-starved neighborhoods in the District, they often talk about pretty high-minded stuff. Fair pay. Job training. Environmental safeguards.

By contrast, in the scruffy blocks around the corner of New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road in Northeast Washington, where the first of four Wal-Marts planned for the District would probably be built, the residents have more immediate, street-level concerns.

First, would a new Wal-Mart there really stock the same quality of food and products as its stores do in better-off, suburban communities?

"I'll believe it when I see it," Mya Harris, 24, said skeptically. "Sure, you can put the store here, but what are they going to put inside it?"

Second, and I was amazed when this anxiety was aired in fully half the interviews, residents worry that the store would suffer severely or even fail because of petty theft.

"There'll probably be a lot of shoplifting going on. They'll need a lot of security," Terriea Sutton, 35, said.

Brenda Speaks, a Ward 4 ANC commissioner, actually urged blocking construction of the planned store in her ward at Georgia and Missouri avenues NW partly because of that risk. Addressing a small, anti-Wal-Mart rally at City Hall on Monday, Speaks said young people would get criminal records when they couldn't resist the temptation to steal.
.
.
Allow me to say...WHAT...HUH...WHAT!!!?
.
WTF kind of thought process makes someone go there? And let me be unkind enough to ask, does this mean they are stealing on a less corporate level now, because there are no Wal-Marts?

KNIFE BAN / REGISTRATION coming to NYC

Hide your knives NYC residents. Bloomberg is gonna getcha!
.
The knife-wielding madman who killed four people during a day-long rampage of stabbings, carjackings and hit-and-runs was nabbed in Times Square moments after he knifed a straphanger.

"They had to die," Maksim Gelman, 23, confessed after being tackled by two transit cops and an off-duty detective about 9 a.m. yesterday, sources said.

His arrest ended a one-man wave of breathless violence that spanned nearly 28 hours and two boroughs, fueled by rage at ex-flame and murder victim Yelena Bulchenko.

Gelman, described as a druggie graffiti vandal, lashed out at innocent bystanders as he cut a bloody swath through the city with six knives - sparking a massive manhunt.

.
Hide yer sharp stuff. But I've got a question. What would have happened to Mr Gelman IF someone he attacked had a CCH and a pistol when he attacked them?

Go look THAT up in your Funk & Wagnalls!!

I've noticed that the American journalists as a whole (hole?) do NOT know the meanings of words. In this instance, CNN. The clowns at the CNN Wire Service wrote an article about the military being in charge in Egypt. Very true, but...
.
Egypt's military dissolved the country's Parliament and suspended its constitution Sunday following the ouster of longtime leader Hosni Mubarak, telling Egyptians it would be in charge for six months or until elections can be held.

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces said it would appoint a committee to propose changes to the Constitution, which would then be submitted to voters. The council will have the power to issue new laws during the transition period, according to a communique read on state television.

Sunday marked the first workday since Mubarak's ouster. For the first time since the uprising began January 25, traffic flowed freely around Tahrir Square -- the epicenter of the protests -- and the majority of shops around the square were open. Some protesters remained in the square Sunday, vowing to keep protesting until Egypt is under civilian rule.

The Egyptian junta now has to grapple with the economic problems that fueled the revolt, including massive youth unemployment and economic underdevelopment. The demonstrations virtually shut down Egypt's economy, costing it vital tourism dollars as well.

.
A Junta? In Egypt?
.
While I'll allow you that JUNTA is by definition a Military led government. However, by the end of the 20th Century the word came to mean a government TAKEN OVER by the military. Think Pinochet, think Saddam, think Qaddafi. Junta came to mean tyrannical, mean, hard to live under. Could anything be further from that in Egypt?
But knowing how things work at the Communist News Network, we KNOW what they meant. JUNTA they said, and JUNTA is what they meant!! The idiots. Do they READ or WATCH their own news reports? Or do they just expect Leon Pinetta do that?
.
The military council in Egypt had this situation dropped in their laps. And thank God for them. Many of the military leaders in Egypt were, and are, trained in the US and the UK. They are much more moderate in their views than other militaries in the Middle East.
.
The Egyptian Military has agreed to hold fast on ALL current treaties, that includes treaties with US and Israel. If the Muslim Brotherhood had taken control, do you suppose that would be happening. Would the CNN crowd would sleep better without the military controlling Egypt? Better still, if the Muslim Brotherhood takes over NYC and Atlanta and LA, how long would it be before the CNN Wire Staff was shorter, by at least a head?

32 years, and we still haven't learned anything

To the DAY, 32 years ago, Iranian Military leaders took over the government and promised 'free and Democratic' elections. And they do have periodic elections, but the Mullahs approve ALL the candidates.
.
In 1979, Jimmy Carter, our second weakest President ever, said little of substance, did less, allowed our Embassy to be over run, allowed American citizens to be held hostage for 444 days and sent our economy into a tail spin, especially over oil prices. Food prices went through the roof, fuel prices did also.
.
I feel like I'm stuck in a time warp. (but I never jumped to the left, nor stepped to the right, or put my hands on my hips)
.
I just do NOT see how this could be any different. (Amadmaninajacket even said, "...Egypt, c'mon, join the worldwide Islamic Revolution") We are in a worldwide war against Islamic fanaticism and where did it start!? Iran is where. We've ignored the real problem in the Middle East for too long, and we are about to reap the whirlwind.
.
I have to be honest, I think Mubarak held out one more day for one reason only. He needed 24 hours to get his (our) money secured in Switzerland and the Caribbean. He needed time to get all his buy / sell orders completed for oil, commodities and whatever he has his fingers in. Even after leaving Egypt, he'll still control part of their economy. Does anyone expect him to suddenly become a big fuzzy teddy bear? While some Egyptians starved and his economy was failing, he amassed (by British intel sources) $70 Billion. Do the math, 70 BILLION divided by 30 years, is a pretty good friggin pay scale where I come from!!
.
Maybe Leon Pinetta and James Clapper can get some updated intel for tomorrows happenings from Ted Turner and CNN. According to Pinetta, that's where they've been getting it UP 'TIL NOW!!
.
Personally, I'm headed out for ammo. And Wal-Mart has a 12 gauge on sale. I'm thinking 00 buckshot?

1979 Redux? I hope not.

I spent the spring and summer of 1979 patrolling the Indian Ocean, watching the USSR watch us, as we all watched Iran.
.
I fear we are reliving that summer, now, in Egypt. My older son is out there now, watching the Russians watch us, as we all watch Egypt.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
.
President Hosni Mubarak will step down shortly and transfer authority to the Egyptian Higher Council of the Armed Forces, a senior Egyptian official confirmed to Fox News on Thursday.

The group is comprised of the minister of defense, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi -- who stands atop the military hierarchy -- along with the military's chief of staff, the chief of operations, and commanders of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Air Defenses.

The source pointed out that the transfer of power will occur "outside of the constitutional framework" because under the Egyptian constitution, Mubarak's resignation ordinarily would mean that the speaker of the house would become president and elections would be held within 60 days. In this case, the military council will "not be governing under the constitution or any legislation," the source noted. "So they will have to define the format under which they are taking power."

The source did not know how long the military would reign nor what mechanism or timetable would be put in place to end the military's administration of power, but said that "when (the transfer of power from Mubarak) does happen, they will presumably indicate the direction of the country."

.
The one good step here is power going to the military. MOST of them have been trained here, or in the UK. They know they get about 70% of their funding and equipment from us, spelled U.S. just for clarification.
.
Hopefully they'll send the Muslim Brotherhood packing. But only time will tell.
.
But the biggest deal is OUR President. We have almost identical economic situations worldwide. The oil business is in the same shape. And we're saddled with a 'leader' who is clueless. Who knows, maybe he'll institute a year round Daylight Saving plan like Carter to save some oil and energy. Remember how that helped Carter save us way back when?

Fatal Tolerance

A few days ago, the British prime minister gave a nationally televised speech to his countrymen. The topic? How their addiction to multiculturalism and political correctness has been a complete disaster for Britain, it's people, it's traditions, and it's way of life. As many of us know, the Brits are deeply involved in PC, so much so, that they've even got us beat, but not by that much. Their dangerously misguided tolerance and compassion have caused them to allow millions of radicals to enter their country. It's not all that surprising that the Brits would wait until they're over-run with Mooselambs before realizing they're losing their own country. I wonder if we'll wait that long.

Britain is loaded with radical Mooselambs. Not only have they taken-over entire sections of the country, they've even installed Sharia Law in the areas they now control. BTW, Sharia Law has been officially recognized by the British govt, their courts, and even the church of England! Is it any wonder why you can see many Mooselambs in Britain laughing their beards off? And, they're living off the tax payers (even there?) while they plan the end of British rule.

But as weak and dumb and blind as they are, we shouldn't be too quick to judge the Brits. You see, we're not all that far behind them. When dealing with Islam, weakness, compassion, and tolerance, beget aggression. It's a lesson we too will learn. The hard way...

A basic misunderstanding of HOW business works.

Anyone here an EMPLOYER? How about an EMPLOYEE? How about a STOCK HOLDER? Do you understand the basics of what the difference is?
.
I can tell you who doesn't know those basics. He lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C.
.
Obama: Corporate Profits "Have To Be Shared By American Workers"

.
The employees DO NOT share in the profits. They agree, when going to work for GM or Granny's Biscuit Shop, to work for "X" dollars and cents per hour, or some preset salary. None of us expects a cut of the PROFITS. Payroll goes on the expense side of the spreadsheet.
.
By definition, profits are the money that a business has AFTER paying the rent, AFTER paying for raw materials, AFTER making payroll, AFTER paying taxes, AFTER paying utility bills, etc, etc, etc.
.
Profits go to GM stock holders OR to Granny as a sole proprietor. Conversely if there are NO profits GM stock holders and Granny are STILL responsible for all those bills and payroll. And if GM and Granny can't pay them, they close the doors. Neither Granny nor GM go to the employees with a bucket looking for help.
.
OHHH, wait, if there is NO profit, Granny goes bust, and GM goes to Obama for a bail out. So I guess there was a difference in profits being spread around. Granny HAS to profit to keep the door open. GM just asks non-stock holders, normally called 'tax payers', who won't get a share of profits for a tax free loan to keep the doors open while they get their water fowl in linear mode.
.
Either way, employees don't share in any PROFITS. But unless you've ever worked where that profit / loss system existed, you don't know that. Mr. Obama is THAT person.

By One Measure, Federal Taxes Lowest Since 1950

Yeah, if that measure is pure stupidity!! But read on.
.
Taxes too high?
.
Actually, as a share of the nation's economy, Uncle Sam's take this year will be the lowest since 1950, when the Korean War was just getting under way.

.
But is there a reason why they are lower?
.
And for the third straight year, American families and businesses will pay less in federal taxes than they did under former President George W. Bush, thanks to a weak economy and a growing number of tax breaks for the wealthy and poor alike.
.
I'm betting the POOR ECONOMY IS THE BIGGEST REASON!!!!
.
Income tax payments this year will be nearly 13 percent lower than they were in 2008, the last full year of the Bush presidency. Corporate taxes will be lower by a third, according to projections by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

The poor economy is largely to blame, with corporate profits down and unemployment up. But so is a tax code that grows each year with new deductions, credits and exemptions. The result is that families making as much as $50,000 can avoid paying federal income taxes, if they have at least two dependent children. Low-income families can actually make a profit from the income tax, and the wealthy can significantly cut their payments.

.
Damn, I thought so!!! It's the economy stupid.
.
"The current state of the tax code is simply indefensible," says Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. "It is hemorrhaging revenue."
.
I just keep thinking the more of this kind of crap journalists push, the closer to revolt we get. Sad but true in my opinion.

When commie assholes attack!

Remember when Michael Moore said rich guys should pay more taxes and he wasn't really a rich guy, well evidently he WANTS to be a rich guy. He's suing the Weinsteins for a bigger cut of his '9/11' diatribe.
.
When Harvey and Bob Weinstein released Michael Moore's political documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" in fall 2004, it became a cultural phenomenon and grossed $119 million at the U.S. box office.

Now the director says more of that money should have made it into his pocket.

In a suit filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Moore alleged that the Weinsteins, on behalf of an outfit called the Fellowship Adventure Group that they formed to release the movie, had illegally kept money from him.

Moore is seeking at least $2.7 million in compensatory damages as well as legal and other costs; the filmmaker also left open the possibility that he could seek further damages once a complete audit is done, a process the suit alleges has not happened.

"This case is about classic Hollywood accounting tricks and financial deception perpetrated by the Fellowship Adventure Group and its owners Bob and Harvey Weinstein," the suit began. The complaint alleged "bogus accounting methods" and "substantial irregularities in the accounting of the film" and said the company has "secretly divert[ed] monies owed" to Moore and his Westside Productions company. Moore's suit alleges breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and constructive fraud.

.
I like it when these clowns start cannibalizing each other over money. It shows what hypocrites they truly are when they decry rich people being mean and greedy.

Killer wings...and a story.

I am not sure who Larry Sahr is but, this recipe was found while surfin’ the net in 1997, it is the best recipe for “Buffalo Wings” I’ve ever tried. I thought I had lost this and went looking for it again. The site it came from had all the original recipes, except this one. There was a note saying the Anchor Bar people had threatened to sue if they did not remove the wing recipe. If this is not their recipe, WHY would they threaten to sue? And, I’ve eaten at the Anchor in Buffalo…THIS sure tastes like their recipe

Let's see if this lasts or if we get a nasty e-mail.

Larry Sahr's Buffalo Wings

Here is what I believe to be the original recipe, as I learned it in 1982 from "Bubba", an ancient, little black man who said he actually used to make the wings at Frank and Teresa's Anchor Bar, Buffalo, New York, where the original Buffalo Wings were invented during 1964. Today, the Anchor Bar is said to serve up in excess of 70,000 lbs. of these wings each month

The Sauce - makes enough for about 30 wings

6 Tablespoons of FRANK'S Louisiana Hot Sauce (also sold as DURKEE'S)
1/2 stick of margerine (not butter !!)
1 Tablespoon of white vinegar
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne pepper powder
1/4 teaspoon of red pepper powder
1/8 teaspoon of garlic salt
A dash of black pepper
1/4 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 to 2 teaspoons of Tabasco sauce

Mix all the ingredients in a samll sauce pan over low heat (and I do mean, low) until the margerine is completely melted, then stir until everything is blended into the sauce. Then get the sauce off of the heat !! This last step is quite important, as any additional heating tends to kill the flavor.

The Wings - use about 30 completely defrosted wings.

Fry in peanut oil (yes, I said peanut oil. Other types of oil don't seem to develop quite the same exquisite flavor.)

Heat the peanut oil to 375 degrees F., and drop in half (15) of the wings, one at a time. Doing it one at a time is important, as you don't want to lower the temperature of the peanut oil too much by dumping in a whole load of cold wings all at one time.

Fry the wings for 12 to 15 minutes, then take them out. Place the other 15 wings in the deep fryer, then drain the hot, cooked wings for a few minutes through a strainer, preferably placed over the deep fryer. If you don't use a strainer, the residual oil will congeal on the wings, making a rather greasy mess.

When all the wings are cooked, put the wings and the sauce in a container with a cover and shake the container until the wings are thoroughly coated. Serve with celery and blue cheese salad dressing.

.
These MFers are as good as they get, IMHO. And as I said, I've eaten at the Anchor Bar, so that's what I compare wings against.

.
Secret Schteveo

Maybe, maybe, maybe...the people are smart.

Just when I think there's little hope, a story comes along and proves me wrong. Here's the NY Daily News trying to say, REPUBLICANS are actually controlling the news in America!!
.
Republicans wrote the political dictionary: It's proof Democrats don't control the media
.
It's hard to know where to begin in dismantling the Republican canard that Democrats control the media. Fox News is the most popular 24-hour news network by a whoosh and a cachung. Rush Limbaugh is the most powerful radio host, and lots of little Limbaughs line up behind him. Sarah Palin is the biggest media-political crossover star. And in an increasingly fragmented Internet, the Drudge Report continues to drive more political traffic than any other website. In italics and bold, to boot.

I don't begrudge conservatives this success. It speaks to message discipline and to feeding tasty food to a hungry audience. An audience that is right of center, which left-wingers far too often fail to acknowledge.

But on top of all this real-world evidence of right-wing media primacy is even more compelling evidence that there's no such thing as a Dominant Liberal Media Elite: You can't control the conversation if you don't control the language.

The New York Times doesn't decide what words we use, nor does CNN or NPR. Our political vocabulary comes from the mouths of crafty conservatives, and that's the ultimate proof that they steer the conversation.

.
Are you kidding me!? One cable network and 5 or 6 3 hour radio programs are the DOMINANT news culture! Limbaugh is up against 3 reporters if you JUST look at the network EVENING news. That discounts his entire company employs about 50 people, while the networks each have more camera and sound men than that.
.
And they are at least attempting to control the nations vocabulary be removing words like terrorist, jihadist, cross hairs, target, or BLACK in any form even when it's a color of inanimate objects.

But screw MY analysis, read the NYDN's own poll.

Who controls the media?

Liberals, the majority of stories reported are always sympathetic to liberal causes. 93%

Conservatives, the media is constantly pandering to conservative readers. 2%

Rich people control the media. 5%

I don't really think this poll is scientific, but KMA, it ain't even close. And certainly the readers of the NYDN are not majority conservative. So that ONLY leaves the readers knowing and telling the unbridled truth!
.
And honestly, it's not so much that the Dems RUN the media, as it's that the media SIDES with them, shills for them, and kisses their asses, totes their water, half speaks about them and refuses to just tell the truth and let the readers decide.
.
When 96% of ANY group states that they vote FOR or AGAINST "X" idea, then they can only be said to be aligned together. And when you believe "X", you will defend "X". The journalists vote Democrat, they defend Democrats. They defend liberal ideals. I don't fault them for it, but I hate them for their, seemingly stupid yet even handed smugness in reporting as if being non-aligned.
.
Evidently, I'm not the only one who sees it. 93% of the NYDN respondents did too when polled.

Go Pack!

Every Red Blooded American should jump in line to support the Green Bay Packers! The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears thus earning them the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl.

By doing so, they saved the Hard-Working, Red Blooded, Taxpaying Americans literally several million dollars of tax money. How you say? Simple... we were told that if theChicago Bears had won that President Obama (and probably his family) would be attending the Super Bowl to cheer on his hometown team.

Since the Bears lost...the President won't be attending. The money saved from not using Air Force 1, the limousines, all the additional security, and let's not forget Michelle Obama's entourage, is literally several million dollars!

Therefore every American should cheer on the Green Bay Packers at the Super Bowl to show them our gratitude.

(Besides, Ben Roethlisberger likes to rape college aged women.)

Earth Calling. Come In Jerry!

In my 34 years with the NYPD, i had many, many, many, occasions to deal with people who were not exactly playing with a full (mental and emotional) deck, up to and including full-blown psychos. One thing i did learn was, when someone has gone out of their way to prove to you, beyond any reasonable doubt, that they are a certified tin-foil hat, totally detached from reality, you should take them seriously. Or, you can make them your governor. Again!

Such is the case with Mexifornia's new/old governor, Jerry (moonbeams) Brown. This is a guy who went through the 60's completely lost in the world of LSD. He's a guy who made Thorazine a house-hold name. He was so bad, that even his fellow Mexifornia socialists ran him out of town. But now he's back and he wants what leftist Demoncrats always want. Higher taxes. He's about to find out that after decades of giving away everything in sight, to anyone who happened to hold their hand out, his state is totally busted! Zero What?

We've all read the stories of young children being thrown out of school, detained, and even handed over to the police, for violating what the indoctrination camp guards call a "Zero Tolerance policy against weapons in school." In most cases, the "weapons" were a picture of a weapon, or a small toy soldier, or a shirt showing a gun. Last year in Mexas, a 5 year old kid was sent home for making a "gun-like" gesture with his fingers! In Detroit, which is 81.5% black, there's a good reason to have such a policy because many kids have been caught bringing loaded guns to school. So while i agree with this type of policy, i do believe it should be applied with some common sense, and, IT SHOULD APPLY TO EVERYONE, even here in PC-merica...
