I reiterate my previous statement, that if you take the number of deer hunting permits, ALONE, issued in the 50 US states, you get 14 million. 14 million people who are armed, have camouflage, GPS, FRS radios, and know very well how to use their weapons and how to take to the forests and be stealthy and deadly with animals that see and hear much better than the best of humans.
Do you realize that 14 million is larger than the 5 largest armies on Earth COMBINED? That’s the Russkies, the Chicoms, and USA, and the two other largest armies on earth, all together, not adding up to the number of DEER HUNTERS, alone, within the continental US. (Forget about the something like 150 million gun owners out there who didn’t get a deer permit…)
It can’t happen, because it would be suicide to whoever was stupid enough to try it. It is too soon, we are still too independent and free-willed, and armed, for anyone to try it. And the more you guys put it out there, the more you end up looking like the leftist nutters that were convinced that Bush was going to declare himself “President pro-temp” for life because of some trumped up emergency at the end of 2008. I laughed at them, then, and I am pretty sure that I’m thinking seriously about laughing at you, now.
Obama won’t have to declare himself dictator to wreck this country. The legacy of his destruction will last long after he has left office, in the form of his programs and ideas, not in some attempt to take over in a coup. So focus on the real issues and problems, and quit giving the Alinksy-ites fodder to use against you to paint you all as radical nutjobs and right wing extremists.
El Gooberino, I'm with you. There is a reason no one wants to come onto our shores, armed. And it sure as hell isn't fear of the DNC. They know we are heavily armed, and willing to shoot back.
I'm the not the typical southern guy, but I still have, a pickup truck, "several' guns, plenty of ammunition, TWO CB radios, 4 different antennas, two sets of GMRS radios, two more sets FRS radios, camping eqpt out the wazoo, and the knowledge of how to use it all.
That's just the "stuff" it takes to fight. I know First Aid, map reading, simple building techniques, and a hundred other things that would be useful to a group in a survival / armed resistance situation.
Knowingly, if I'm less than the typical guy with all the stuff I've got, and know, then there are tons more stuff at arms reach, ready to use, and libraries of information to use against an enemy.
Hell my Pastor has more guns, ammo, camping eqpt and the like, than I do. And we're not one of those fringe, crazed, income tax fighting, IRS hating, survivalist churches either.
Those are very impressive numbers Goob. It's too bad you don't have the numbers of how many of those people would actually pick up their guns and go out into the streets to do "real" battle to save their country, if it ever came to that. I dare say your numbers would be a lot less. A whole lot less!
Hunters? As i always say to my hunter friends, if the dear were armed, most of those guys wouldn't make it back home. Simply having a gun doesn't mean you have the will to use it on anything other than a defenseless animal. Shooting at a person is a whole other story, especially if he's shooting at you.
Besides, the govt. (especially this govt.) knows it wouldn't come to that. They've spent decades anesthetizing the people, and it's worked very well. That's not to say they still won't do everything possible to disarm us, but it'll be done incrementally, in a way that's almost unnoticeable. If you pay attention, you can see little signs of it almost every day. The Left will never give up it's dream of disarming law abiding Americans.
And Steve, there's another reason people don't come to our shores armed. They don't have to. What could they get from this country with guns that they don't get now?
