It's a valid precaution. Even back in the 60's and 70's, children under the age of 14 could not visit in hospitals. Unneccessary exposure to pathogens is an easily avoidable, non-invasive strategy.
I agree. Personally, i don't think young children should be allowed to visit in hospitals, seeing how there are more potential dangers there than out on the streets.
As for all the hysteria about the swine flu, i'm starting to get that "we're being conned again" feeling. I've seen TV reports about "thousands of children dying in the US" from this flu, then the reports stopped. Rather odd i think. So far, my daughter has not allowed my grandchildren to get the shots, something i agree with.
Still no flu shot and still have never had the flu... of any kind. My husband and my kids don't get the shot either and they've never had the flu. Go figure.
I must confess I get a flu shot (the regular kind) every year - doctor's orders. But I only have two of the three major arteries that serve the hear still functioning. I pay my internist for a very specific reason: To keep me alive. She says 'flu shot' I roll up the ol' sleeve.
I figure I'm paid to keep bridges standing and trains running - she's paid to keep my old ticker ticking.
However - I see her every 3 months for regular maintenance and she's NEVER even IMPLIED I should get an H1N1 shot. I think it's because the H1N1 inhaler is actually some kind of live bug, whereas the regular flu shot is a bunch of dead crap.
AND KEEP THOSE FREAKIN' RUG RATS OUT OF HOSPITALS! (Unless they're sick.) It's not just that they are little germ incubators - the little buggers cause high blood pressure! And THAT is a fact!

Not to mention that the CDC ordered hospitals to STOP testing for H1N1 back in August and just assume all flues are H1N1.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Woops.. I said "...three major arteries that serve the hear..."
Even though I admit to being hard-at-hearing, I MEANT "...three major arteries that serve the heart..."
