There are many people in this country who believe in a "free and open" society. To many on the Left, that means a "totally free and open" society. No borders, No laws relating to foreigners. Nothing that would inhibit, in any way, people from walking into this country. It sure sounds good, and it's the kind of utopia that all of us would love to live in. Unfortunately, like all utopias, it has no connection to reality, especially modern-day reality. As Ayn Rand once said, "we can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality."
Since the early 80's, we have been involved in a religious war with radical Islam. One of the main problems is that they knew it, and we didn't. Or at least, we refused to see it. Just the other day, i drove by what used to be the WTC in Manhattan. And while waiting for the light to change, i looked down into that (still empty) massive hole and thought, that's the price that was paid for avoiding reality. Well, part of the price, since we're not done paying.
The other day, in the "Jihad Jane" post, a story about a PA. woman who is, we learned, a terrorist, i talked about how Al-Qaeda is now recruiting US citizens, or people who moved here when they were young, and have become "Americans". I said how it was the next inevitable step for Al-Q to take, since these people had the very precious ability to move freely in and out of the country. And being the lovers of a free and open society, we tend to accept or ignore these people. As this article states, "officials said nothing he did when he worked there aroused any suspicion", which is of course, exactly how a "planted mole" would behave. (remember the Ft. Hood terrorist?)
Sun Tzu was quoted in The Art of War, as having once said, (as i recall) "the most difficult enemy to defeat is one whom you have invited into your house". I wonder how many Americans are willing to sacrifice their lives, or the lives of their loved ones, to maintain a wide-open society...

A free and open society, unless you are an American citizen. In which case it is neither free nor open.
But the beauty of it is that they're willing to die for their cause, and some of us are willing to help that happen!
We all said / knew / talked about the fact that there would be more attacks. Something, I think, will happen this year. Likewise we know about infiltrations and such as an effective means of attack. The ONLY thing that surprises me is the blond-haired, blue-eyed, FEMALE, actives.
Personally, I was expecting minority males, with prison time behind them.
So is everyone else. Our enemies will always try to pick those who feel disenfranchised by our society whether or not that feeling would be valid to those who are not so weak.
But I question those chicks feeling disenfranchised in AMERICAN culture. I think it was just a power play. REAL Muslim women don't think like this,
"...and I can be in charge, if I become a leader of all the female mad bombers..."
That's a very western thought pattern.
It really doesn't matter. The towelheads will not use old stereotypes. The blond psycho is "exactly" what they're looking for, simply because they know we're not. We will no longer be able to look for the "bearded, middle-eastern" look. The next attackers will not have that. They will fit in like apple pie or a can of Bud. And against that kind of attacker, "there is no defense"! At best, all the govt can do is put on a show for the mindless voters.
As some of us know, there are "lots" of psychos (real ones) freely walking the streets of this country, and you'd never know it until it's too late. We also know how easy it is to dupe a very large number of people into believing whatever it is you want them to believe. This will be Al-Q's new tactic. And, it will work!
IMO, we probably will not see another 9/11 type attack. But, there are things that can be done by individuals, or small groups of individuals, that can actually cause even more death, chaos, and damage than did 9/11. And if the 9/11 attack went unnoticed, who do you think is going to notice some attractive blond walking in Manhattan, or DC, or L.A. with a briefcase filled with a bio-weapon that can kill "tens-of-thousands"?
We are in a religious war with a highly-dedicated enemy who has vowed to totally destroy us, even at the cost of his/her own life, while we're still making people remove their shoes at the airport. I recently heard a "very knowledgeable" friend say, if the American people don't wake up and get real, this could very well be "our last war".
