25 million forgotten Americans under seige!!!

Do I have your attention yet with that headline!?
.
As you may have heard, there is a hurricane heading toward New York City!
.
Seriously? A hurricane is headed due east, right out of the North Atlantic toward NYC?
.
No, Hurricane Irene is headed from the south, up the east coast, from the North Carolina / South Carolina border, up through the Mid-Atlantic, including D.C. & Baltimore, all of Delaware, up through Philly, all of Jersey, and THEN it gets to NYC.
.
But to hear the news reports, ONLY people in NYC are going to have it rough. By my calculations and research, it will pass over 22 to 25 MILLION people BEFORE it gets to the 13 million who live in NYC.
.
But as usual, the people in Fly Over just don't count.
.

Here's the sad part, that's EXACTLY the issue.

It's been breezy, LOTS of rain (4" to 6"), power off twice for about an hour and a quarter each, and lots of nodding and mumbling.

Other than that, it could be any other Saturday!

Anyone near Ralleigh, NC arpt? Steve? We got a flight arriving about 6AM sunday from Seattle. Trying to get back to NYC from Alaska ASAP. We'll follow the storm up the coast. Limited internet via Blacberry. BOW

As of now, all NYC airports are still closed. Also, all mass-transit is still out of service. The "hurricane", (it's now actually a tropical storm) is now on it's way to New England. Here in NYC, it seems some of the hardest-hit places were Staten Island and Rockaway.

Here in Brooklyn, it wasn't as bad as the media-idiots said it would be. We got heavy rain last night, with 40-50 mph winds. I lost power for about 45 min. but it was restored.

NJ also took a hard hit, with mass flooding and almost 1 million without power as of now.

We flew into Charlotte, NC this AM, then drove the 13 hrs back to NYC in a rental. Good news Steveo. I drnak your beer too. So no need to worry. Now come play in our yard and we'll be sure to have more.

Interesting note: Those who consider themselves liberal in NYC are communists. We know that. Alaskan liberals are much different. Granted they vote liberal, but their mindset is more libertarian. eg: They all have guns and hunt. They all value their property. They all care about their environment and the native Americans and yet see Greenpeace as a bunch of raving lunatics.

There may be hope yet for our country. BTW we did 18 states and 5 time zones in the past 36 hrs. I could have run for President. But I need that like I need a whole in my head!

Let's hope our buddy Steve fared well. NC took a pretty hard hit.

I'm here, I'm here, I'm here, and just fine. Thanks for askin'.

There's been more rain / water damage up there, than we had here. We had the usual road blow outs at the coast. Lots of trees down in the eastern half of the state. And, unfortunately 5 deaths. As usual, it seems like people who made really bad choices. Like the SURFER who drowned trying to catch one last ride.

Oddly, we all survived this, but look East my friends! TS Katia is 'supposed' to be bigger and badder than Irene ever grew to be. With just days between storms, no one needs a bigger storm for dessert.

Here's hoping this Russian bitch blows herself out at sea!
