Heros Wasted

As someone who was, and still is, totally against sending/keeping our warriors to Iraq, (or Afghanistan, or Somalia, or Lybia, or God only knows where else) i find the enclosed article to be just another insult to our country, and the incredibly brave warriors who give their all to protect it. We've lost far too many of our most valuable people for, what is IMO, nothing. We gained nothing. We changed nothing, other than to get rid of some minor dictator who was a zero-threat to our country.

The military has what are known as, Rules of Engagement. Basically, they are rules (designed by civilians) to fight a war by, which is IMO, a totally idiotic concept. Some also refer to them as handcuffs. To many, they are also a way of making sure our troops don't fight as hard as the enemy they're facing, or God-forbid, they might be seen as being "brutal". In war, a soldier has two main objectives. 1) Kill as many of the enemy as you can, and as fast as you can. 2) Come home in one piece. Those are very hard things to do when you're forced to be "nice".

When the Leftists and traitors in America started whining about the Viet Nam war, the DC politicians panicked, and really pushed the Rules into effect. Basically, they told our troops to go and fight, but try not to hurt anyone, something that any other soldiers in the world would find very amusing. That "handcuff " mentality has been pretty-much the same since Nam, and no one knows how many thousands of our warriors have been killed because of that mentality. God forbid we should offend our enemies by killing them in combat, the same enemies who have devoted their lives to our total destruction.

The enclosed article is about two "very" brave Marines in Iraq. Now, they're two dead Marines, and the terrorist who killed them is walking around free, without so much as a scratch. Was he killed? No. Was he punished? No. But what are the lives of two Marines, so long as we can say the terrorist wasn't, offended and the Rules weren't broken...
