Best Christmas present ever

Hey guys,

thought I would share this one with anyone that is interested.

at 8:24 a.m. on Christmas Eve (day) The world was inhabited by the first of the next generation as my Grand daughter entered the world.

As you can see, by New Year's she made a great little nap buddy with grandpa. Mom is doing great, and Grandma is exstatic.

alan,
is this your first grandchild?

Prepare to have your heart stolen my friend. It's one of the coolest things I've done, spending time with the grandsons. It does give you hope for another generation, but it also makes you pull your hair out!

We we're the first couple in our group and our families to have kids. So many of them came to us as the 'experts' on kids. As a long time parent / grandparent I've always told people raising children (and then watching them learn to raise their kids)is a lot like a high school science project.

Your not sure whether the gerbils are going to live or die, but your pretty sure they'll eat their own young!

I don't care how much you love and trust your kids, how smart they are or how good they were with siblings, cousins, etc., where the grandkids are involved you'll wonder who these people are raising your grandkids 'like that'! I'm certain that my parents never felt like that though, I was a perfect parent from day one.(?)

(yeah and monkeys might fly outta my butt too)

(the hardest part is remembering that I get to look at my grankids now after almost 40 years of raising, my own kids, it's all easy now)

Enjoy it my friend, love them all especially when it's the hardest and congratulations to all of you.

Almost forgot to crow, I got a cool Christmas present too!

I got goats!!! Two pygmy males. Not intact males, but I'm hoping to learn enough about daily upkeep to get some breeding goats and start having goat puppies by years end.

None of that is certainly as cool as a new Granddaughter, but she probably can't clear out the underbrush in my woods either. And most of my grandsons are too young to be effective out there either as of yet.

(holy crap on a cracker..I just had a mental image of the four older ones in the woods...swinging machetes...playing Star Wars...ARRRGGGHHH)

(I got a present from my power company too...I shimmied a free utility pole outta them...already in place on my property...now I can put up my horizontal wind generator)

Hey Alan, welcome to the world of grandpa's! Don't be surprised when you find that you never have enough of them, until they grow up that is. (lol)

My very best wishes to you and yours...

Hey Steve, next time i'm down in NC maybe we can do some goat huntin? The only goats we get to see up here are all married to Mooselambs.

We can't hunt my little goat people, they're family!!! And I'll shoot any mooselambs that want to marry my goats. Besides, these are both male.

(but I'm betting that wouldn't matter to a guy who would marry a goat)

yep, first grandchild. and just found out that we are expecting another one from our daughter who got married last fall.

her husband is excited, but she isn't nearly as much. At least they didn't go on their honeymoon as a couple and come back as a family.
