I'm Just Sayin...

Today, most of the nation is in mourning because of the unspeakable tragedy that took place in Sandy Hook, CT., where 27 innocent people were assassinated, 20 of them young children. Things like this are not easily explained, even for someone who spent his last eleven years with the NYPD as a Homicide Investigator. In this case, we are either looking at insanity, or pure evil. Our society is filled with examples of both. Personally, his motive really doesn't matter to me. I'm one who truly believes that anyone convicted of a violent crime against a child, including and especially a crime of a sexual nature, should be summarily executed. We can discuss their motives after they're dead.

I said that today, "most" of the nation is mourning. Unfortunately, but not at all surprising, there are those who would use this tragedy to further their own Leftist political agenda. As usual, the anti-gun nuts are starting to crawl out of the woodwork. They never miss an opportunity to call for banning guns. And make no mistake, when they say "a ban on assault weapons", what they mean is a "total ban on all guns"! I'm still waiting for one of them to explain, if "assault weapons" are banned, which weapons does that leave? Non-assault weapons? Also, should we ban cars so the next psycho won't be able to get to his targets? The one thing we know for sure is, facts and logic and rational thought will not stop the anti-gun zealots.

Most of us here are gun owners and shooters, and we know what to expect from the Left in the coming weeks and months. I truly doubt the Marxist-in-Chief will pass-up this opportunity to feed his Leftist base. Besides, total gun control is something he has always wanted. Now, IMO, using this tragedy, he'll go for it and at the same time, make himself look good to the general public. It's a win-win for him. I believe the 2nd Amendment is about to be attacked. Again.

I truly hope God has warmly taken their young souls into his open arms...

“This tragedy underscores the urgency of getting rid of gun bans in school zones,” he added. “The only thing accomplished by gun-free zones is to ensure that mass murderers can slay more before they are finally confronted by someone with a gun..."

"Nancy Lanza legally owned a Sig Sauer and a Glock, both handguns of models commonly used by police, and a military-style Bushmaster .223 M4 carbine, according to law enforcement officials who also believe Adam Lanza used at least some of those weapons. We're investigating the history of each and every weapon and we will know every single thing about those weapons," Lt.Vance said.

Nancy Lanza was an avid gun collector who once showed him a "really nice, high-end rifle" that she had purchased, said Dan Holmes, owner of a landscaping business who recently decorated her yard with Christmas garlands and lights. "She said she would often go target shooting with her kids…"

First, Spider I follow your prayer with my own....

They started their co-mingled grief and anger BS before those poor kids were all cold yesterday. I still can't figure out WHY they think me not having a gun will save kids from being shot by some nut job that I've never met.

I keep waiting to hear some (R), ANY (R) say something about a guy hacking up 22 kids yesterday, in China. Or maybe they could say something about the 4 people who were sprayed with something flammable and set on fire in Denver.

You don't need a gun to kill or maim, that's for damned sure.

Anon,
I was shocked to hear even one of the FOX News babes wonder why a 'woman' would 'want' a gun like that. Ya' gotta love how Fair & Balanced that remark is, right?!

Billy O,
congrats bro, and happy day!

It's good to hear from you, I thought you were just about dead and buried, given our current political climate.

We've got your back kid! Happy Rights Day!

Speaking of our rights, the next assault on the 2nd Amendment is now officially under way. Did you really think the anti-gun leftists would let all this emotion and tears go to waste?

I saw online today that the shooter's mom may have been a prepper and THAT'S why she had 'so many' guns.

[the 'so many' thing is NOT my wording]

Two things come to mind....
If we made it harder for law abiding citizens to own automobiles, could we cut down on the drunk driving fatalities in this country?

Second, there is a program called "troops to teachers" in which service members transition (get the required education) to become teachers and the transition is subsidized with our beloved tax dollars. I don't have a problem with that. If the former soldier uses the program, he/she is then required to teach in an "under-privelaged" school system for 2-4 years.

I propose a second addition to this, similar to the air marshall program. All former soldiers, who have become teachers, to be armed in the schools. Nobody has to know that they are.

I can't help but wonder if just one OTHER person in this "gun free" target rich environment had been armed, would as many people have been killed?

Looking at the massacres that have happened in this country in the last 20 years, the vast majority have ended in the suicide of the murderer after maximum destruction. Others, such as Ft. Hood, would have been worse if it hadn't been for a few people who were actually armed.
