Way back when I was just a little squid I remember hearing, for the first time, the GOP called 'jack-booted fascists'. It's a term that is thrown around so often that it has seemingly lost it's punch. I dare say young people [those under 40] actually think REPUBLICAN first when they hear the term.

But in my experience it's the party / groups / people on the Left who are constantly shutting down personal freedoms.

Well, they've finally shown their true, truer, truest colors via one of the Lefts Media Darlings of the last 5 decades. Harry "Day-O" Belafonte said to Al Sharptongue on MSNBC Tuesday night that the President should, "work
like a third world dictator and just put all these guys in jail.”.

The American singer-songwriter, once considered the “Kind of
Calypso,” this week ignited outrage – and plenty of eye rolls – after
speaking with MSNBC’s Al Sharpton and saying President Obama should rule like a third-world dictator and toss his GOP opponents behind bars.
“That there should be this lingering infestation of really corrupt
people who sit trying to dismantle the wishes of the people, the mandate
that has been given to Barack Obama, and I don’t know what more they
want,” he said. “The only thing left for Barack Obama to do is to work
like a third world dictator and just put all these guys in jail.”
Belafonte went on to claim that Republicans are "violating the
American desire" by working to keep government limited, taxes low and
the country solvent. Sharpton was clearly amused by the suggestion – and
could be heard laughing in the background.

First, welcome back bud. I see you are in ship-shape condition again.
What your post is describing is actually one of the Left's oldest and most effective tactics. Say and do what you want, then simply blame your opponents. Demoncrats and the Left know that republicans and conservatives always "play by the rules", or "do things by the book". To the Left, this simply means they're real easy to defeat since Leftists never play by any rules. That the Obamunists are still running the country proves that point beyond any reasonable doubt.
Playing the game, (in this case the political game) by the rules is fine, unless of course, you're the only team playing by those rules. If you are, then the outcome is a forgone conclusion, as we saw on Nov. 6th. You will lose!
IMO, republicans and conservatives in the govt., and the formally-alive tea party, are now so weak and ineffectual, that they barely muster enough strength to stand and agree with whatever the Demoncrats tell them to agree with. But, they do manage that.
As we know, Leftists are vicious animals, and any sign of weakness will invite an attack. The only way to defeat them is to play by their rules launch an even stronger counter-attack.
Belafonte's been a Communist and a racist most of his life, so why would anyone be surprised by his remarks. That there is no loud outrage from White America is the real surprise. Then again, perhaps it's not at all surprising, anymore.

it is 'the game', but on a new level. Up until now, there was plenty of fringe thought like that. But for a well known leftist Hollyweird type to go that far out as if it wasn't out in FAR left field is indicative of how crazy is the world we have now.
I'm not surprised by Belafonte A L, I'm floored that NO ONE called him on it. Even Libs should see the danger in such a statement left out there as if it's not outrageous.
It seems to me that the Left, who tell us all the time that they are smarter than regular folks, would see the danger in rounding up ANY particular group.
