.
and only 450 years later, the Pope said, the Vatican was wrong

.
this is why troops crossing bridges break stride now
.
1861 – American Civil War: The war begins with Confederate forces firing on Fort Sumter, in the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina.
.
some southerners are still fighting this one, but MOST of the racist Democrats come from above the Mason-Dixon Line
.
1934 – The strongest surface wind gust in the world at 231 mph, is measured on the summit of Mount Washington, New Hampshire.
.
big deal, measure the hot air coming out of D.C., it'll be stronger
.

.
gas turbines are THE best use of hydrocarbon fuels, hands down

.
1945 – U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dies while in office; vice-president Harry Truman is sworn in as the 33rd President
.
then Harry told someone to kiss his ass, and went out for a beer, and then he nuked the 'japs'

.
1955 – The polio vaccine, developed by Dr. Jonas Salk, is declared safe and effective
.
but somewhere in the 70's we QUIT doing this and Polio is coming back

.
1961 – The Russian (Soviet) cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin becomes the first human to travel into outer space and perform the first manned orbital flight, in Vostok 3KA-2 (Vostok 1)
.
this guy had big brass ones, rumors say he was the THIRD Soviet cosmonaut

.
1999 – US President Bill Clinton is cited for contempt of court for giving "intentionally false statements" in a sexual harassment civil lawsuit
.
BFD, he got nothing FOR lying, and he's got more money NOW than THEN

Didn't those Mythbuster guys debunk the marching on the bridge thing?

Wait...

Ok, I just checked the Mythbusters site and they debunked it the first go-round and said it was plausible after tweaking the test and trying it again. Ok, cool.
