A nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System is happening Wednesday, Nov 9th.
On Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2 PM EST /
11 AM PST, the first nationwide test of the Emergency
Alert System (EAS) will be conducted. It's nothing to
worry about, it's only a test. It will last for up to 30
seconds and will interrupt whatever you're watching
(whether it's live TV or On Demand), so please plan
your viewing and recording accordingly.

Ok so their going to 'take over' the radio & TV tomorrow. Who's going to MAKE them turn it BACK on?! ...not to mention, if they turn OFF all radio & TV tomorrow, why WON'T they do it some day WITHOUT telling us "...it's JUST a test..."? It's the perfect answer to taking control.

I'm telling you, here & now, this is the 21st Century equivalent of Good King George taking control of ALL the printing presses in Colonial America. I seem to remember that when he tried,

A.) He tried doing so, more than once, starting small initially.

B.) There was a huge FIGHT and the guys who owned the printing presses, being at the time good Englishmen and subjects of the Crown, told GKG to bugger off!

I'm in line with that, but not being an Englishman, I'll shorten that 6 letter 'b-u-g-g-e-r', to just 4 letters. I doubt I need to tell you which ones.

yeah, I found this to be quite suspicious also. looks like more central planning/control to me.

This has been in the works for some time...since 9/11, when the emergency broadcast system, that we all grew up with, failed.

Billy O',
don't they do monthly EBS tests?

They damned sure do here. I've got at leat one show recorded on DVR every month with the test. Sometimes it's at 1:00 AM, other times I'm watching and it goes off in the morning or afternoon.

Now, having said that.

I just looked at EBS and 9/11. I found what I remembered. The EBS was NOT used that day, it didn't fail. Besides that, I can't imagine what sort of 'national emergency' we'd have where they would need a nation wide alert.

I think it's all for bogus situations and should not be happening. And that it's being run by two agencies of the gub'ment (FCC and FEMA) for another (Homeland Security) that shouldn't even exist, makes it that much worse.

Here's the other thing. Taking control of all communications is dangerous. What IF there's some glitch and they can't get it all running again? And how LONG will the test be? I've read everything from 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

Why do they need total control of TV, radio, land line phones, cell phones, and the internet for 3 minutes? Isn't THAT exactly what we keep telling China, Iran, NK, et al, NOT to do to their people? If so, WHY is it OK here?

Well, the ass munchers did it. I still want to know what a "National Emergency" would be though.

I subscribe to the Cablevision system here in NYC, and i've been annoyed by those tests "on a weekly basis", and sometimes twice a day!

Steve, the "national emergency" will be whatever Obummer says it is. Now, he has the authority (and) the means to shut everything down. This is simply another way for this govt. to tell the people they no longer matter or count.

You can also bet your life that the majority of sheeple in this country don't have a clus as to what this "test" was really for, nor do they know how far it can be pushed.

It failed BECAUSE it wasn't implemented. Implementation is an integral part of the system. It didn't go into effect as it shoulod have, ergo, it failed.
