You know that old saying, "with friends like these, who needs enemies."
It applies to a situation when your so-called "friends" are more of a danger to you than your enemies are. This seems to be the case in Afghanistan. More of our warriors are being killed by Afghan police officers and army soldiers than are being killed by Al-Qaeda. And, as usual, they are the same people we're training, arming, and funding. And, as is also usual in the middle east, terrorists have heavily infiltrated the ranks of people who "claim" they want to help their country. Of course, no one in the US govt. seems to have the brains to ask, "oh yeah, why now "? Why have you waited until now to help your country? Nor do they have the brains to ask, WTF ARE WE DOING HERE! And, if your answer to that question is, the 9/11 attack, remember, it wasn't Afghanistan (nor was it Iraq) or the Taliban that attacked us. It was Al-Qaeda.
We have been fighting in Afghanistan for over ten years now. It's the longest war we have ever fought, and IMO, the most meaningless one. IMO, for all that we've accomplished there, (whatever that may be) we could have done the same thing, and more, just with air power. Of course, we wouldn't have been able to build new schools, new roads, hospitals, shopping centers, movie theaters, swimming pools, and God-only knows what else our money has been wasted on. Once again, we went around the world to people who were/are perfectly happy living in the 10th century, and forced them to live as we say they should. And we wonder why people hate us?
Of the things that, IMO, will eventually destroy America, our busy-body, nanny-state foreign policy, and our mindless immigration policy, must be near the very top of the list...
