Freedom Tower Name Change Slammed as Unpatriotic

NEW YORK — Even without the name, the symbolism of the Freedom Tower as an American response to the Sept. 11 terror attacks was hard to miss.
The original architect designed a twisting form he wanted to imitate the Statue of Liberty, with a spire that rose to the deliberate height of 1,776 feet to recognize the year of American independence. Politicians called the tower proof of the country's triumph over terrorism.
Former Gov. George Pataki said visitors to the iconic skyscraper "will know our determination to overcome evil" in a 2003 speech that first gave the Freedom Tower its name.
The tower — still under construction with a projected completion date of 2013 — no longer has the same architect, design or footprint on the 16-acre site. And this week, the owners of ground zero publicly parted ways with the Freedom Tower name, saying it would be more practical to market the tallest building in New York as the former north tower's name, One World Trade Center.

You will read a lot of excuses – but the real reason for the name change is obvious: If they use the ‘Freedom Tower’ name it might piss-off radical muslims and make the building a target. In other words – terrorism wins the day.
Look for the new building to be topped with a crescent moon & star, oriented toward mecca.

Naming it the 1-WTC building is "practical", as the story says. They couldn't have the Chinese lease offices in a "Freedom Tower" and so far, the Chinese are the only tenants.
Anyway, the 1-WTC name still might piss-off the muslims (it did the first time too).
You might be right, since the ChiComs are the only tenants so far. Unfortunately, this whole project has become a complete embarrassment. Soon after 9/11, the crooked politicians and greedy land barons moved in, and that was the end. It's been over 7 years and there's still nothing there but a huge hole, a glaring and oh-so typical example of NYC greed and corruption.
Let's not forget some of the relatives of those who were killed allowing themselves to be turned into media stars and holding up the work with their never ending and constantly changing demands.

If you look just right at that black smoke in the picture; cross your eyes, hold your breath until you're about to passout, (while tripping on LSD) you can see the image of George Bush plane as day. Just ask Dickhead.
