Late Friday Funny

Many people do not believe that the Mayan Calendar marks Friday, December 21, 2012 as the day that the world will end.

That's just 4 days before Christmas, and 10 days before New Years Eve, ergo no Christmas, and no New Years Rockin' Eve in 2012.

And we know Dick Clark just died.

He died in 2012...the year we in which aren't supposed to have a Christmas or New Years Eve.

Well played Mayans, very well played!

* Democrats don't understand THE DEBT CEILING
* Republicans don't understand THE DEBT CEILING
* Liberals don't understand THE DEBT CEILING
* Conservatives don't understand THE DEBT CEILING
* NO ONE understands THE DEBT CEILING

SO - Allow me to explain...

Let's say you come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup In your neighborhood.

Your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do? Raise the ceilings or pump out the crap?

Anonymous - SInce nothing else will fix the problem, are you ready and willing to forego your social secuirty contributions in order to get our fiscal house in order?

If not, you are part of the problem, and congress raised the debt ceiling because of you, not in spite of you.

If we really want to approach this problem with reality in mind, we need to be ready to face some harsh truths. For one, Boomers who want their social security need to understand that it no longer exists because they already spent it on stuff for themselves.

Much like a guy blowing his retirement on goodies for the "now", boomers need to realize that they voted for the folks that spent it all, they saw the benefits of it being spent, and they have no moral foot to stand on in demanding that their kids now pay their dues because they were fiscally irresponsible for their entire lives.

That realization is the only thing that will save us. Until we are willing to accept that, the debt ceiling is going to keep going up. If your response to this post was to write back and say "well, I paid into it, so I damned sure better be getting my money back!" then you are the reason that Congress raised the debt ceiling, and you are responsible for it, because they were only doing what you, their constituency, demands of them.
