Only a handful states would start this movement.

.
Alaska?
.
Texas?
.
Florida?
.
Nope, Oklahoma is first. First at what? Forming an anti-Federal takeover militia. The article is important for two reasons. The first one is the fact of a militia, being set up by a state. To my knowledge, these went out of favor after WWI. I'll tell you below what the other one is, AFTER you read the article. See of you see, what I see.
.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Frustrated by recent political setbacks, tea party leaders and some conservative members of the Oklahoma Legislature say they would like to create a new volunteer militia to help defend against what they believe are improper federal infringements on state sovereignty.

Tea party movement leaders say they've discussed the idea with several supportive lawmakers and hope to get legislation next year to recognize a new volunteer force. They say the unit would not resemble militia groups that have been raided for allegedly plotting attacks on law enforcement officers.

"Is it scary? It sure is," said tea party leader Al Gerhart of Oklahoma City, who heads an umbrella group of tea party factions called the Oklahoma Constitutional Alliance. "But when do the states stop rolling over for the federal government?"

Thus far, the discussions have been exploratory. Even the proponents say they don't know how an armed force would be organized nor how a state-based militia could block federal mandates. Critics also asserted that the force could inflame extremism, and that the National Guard already provides for the state's military needs.

"Have they heard of the Oklahoma City bombing?" said Joseph Thai, a constitutional law professor at the University of Oklahoma. The state observes the 15th anniversary of the anti-government attack on Monday. Such actions could "throw fuel in the fire of radicals," he said.

.
An interesting article, I guess. But did you notice that Tea Party is NOT spelled using any caps? Hell they use caps when the print Crips, Bloods, Mafia, SEIU, Hells Angels, NAACP...especially that LAST one.
.
But it's "tea party", as IF it was a real tea party, with finger sandwiches and tea. THAT's done on purpose too, don't be fooled. And I just loved the comparison of the militia with the OK City bombers. Good job WAPO, defamation and discrimination in the same article.

And you expected what?
Going after the Tea Party is just Leftists doing what they always do, which is to demonize their enemies. Make no mistake. The Demoncrats and the rest of the radical Left are very afraid of the Tea Party movement, which is why they're attacking them every chance they get. It's their only hope of blunting this growing force.

As for forming these malitias, i'm not so sure that's a good idea, although the reasoning behind it is well founded. I can already see the headlines, "RIGHT-WING RADICALS, FANATICS, ARMED TERRORISTS," etc. It would be a MSM dream come true! Also, the states already have malitias. They're called the National Guard. The big problem with the Guard is, they can be Federalized with the stroke of Odumbo's pen, which then makes them Federal troops under the control of the head Marxist.

I assume this fact is what these states were thinking of when they proposed the idea of militias. I hope they're prepared for the media onslaught.

Spider,
I expected it fully. But the silly, JR High crap of NOT capitalizing the NAME is such a bunch of monkey turds. It's just too much for my little brain to comprehend.

I'm with you on the National Guard issue to. It's NOT there JUST for the Governor to use. But the Tea Party being terrorists, or a militia being terrorists, to the idiot liberals anyone with a gun is a terrorist.

Except, of course, 18 to 35 y/o males, of Middle-Eastern, Islamic, fundamentalist ravings. They're freedom fighters or down trodden masses.

I did see a blurb on Fox this morning from the Media Research Center saying coverage of the Tea Party is disparaging, or non-existent. Before the Million Man March, the Big did 21 reports on when, where, who why, etc. Then there were reporters, anchors, talking heads AT that event. Then there have been numerous stories since then. They've done NINETEEN total stories on the Tea Party, all in an off hand or totally belittling manner.

I see it differently. As there was no "Tea Party", but rather a real grass roots movement of "tea parties" sprouting up everywhere and coalescing. I believe that makes it even more powerful. And
WE THE PEOPLE will take back America

The teabaggers are just a bunch of racist sore losers who have time on their hands. Many are unemployed or like our host, on some form of government assistance.

Their opposition to health care reform comes from their greed and selfishness. They believe that extending health care to others will infringe on their government benefits.

They're absolutely the worst subhuman garbage on the planet.

Please have your mother explain to us exactly what teabaggers means.
