I applaud these people!!!

I'm a known hater of the typical spoiled, rich, over pampered Hollywood Leftists.  I especially hate the Streisand, Clooney and Behar types, who run their mouths incessintally about how those on the Right are hate filled racists, homophobes, and all the rest of that twaddle.  Then in the next breath they spout street slang for those on the Right, using the very WORDS in most cases that they say the Right shouldn't use!

Critical thinking or truthfulness aren't their strong suits.

I really like those on the Left who are constantly running their mouths about how great Europe is, or China, or how we should have Cuban Style Medical Care, or some such crap.  I was reading earlier this week how Tina Turner has relinquished her U.S. Citizenship, mostly because she's been living in Switzerland for 20 years.  She, in my mind, is one of the smart, thinking entertainment types.  She wasn't happy here, so she found a place where the tax laws, and lifestyle were more to here liking.

Unlike the Streisands, Clooneys and Behars of Hollywood / NY, there are people who DON'T like the country or the tax laws, and they LEAVE.  I applaud them for it.  I hate to see them go, it's people willing to make tough decisions that we'll need to turn this boat around.
.
This year will set a record for expatriations by U.S. taxpayers, with at least a 33% increase from the previous high in 2011.

The Treasury Department published the names of 560 people who either were U.S. citizens renouncing their citizenship or long-term residents who turned in their green cards during the third quarter.

That brings the total so far this year to 2,369, according to Andrew Mitchel, a tax lawyer in Centerbrook, Conn., who tracks the data. For all of 2011, the number of published expatriates was 1,781, he said.

Taxpayers who expatriate aren't required to give a reason, but experts said the overall increase was likely because of tougher enforcement of U.S. tax laws.

"Nothing has changed in immigration law that would make people want to renounce," said Freddi Weintraub, an immigration specialist and partner at Fragomen Worldwide, a New York-based law firm. "Current or anticipated changes in tax law and enforcement are driving this increase."
.
I know a lot of people think these people are 'running away', or 'taking the easy way out', but I'm betting that was also said about many of the people who left WHEREVER to come TO the U.S.  And the kind of people who will pull up stakes and start over elsewhere, are usually the smart people, the tough minded people, the hard workers, the builders, movers and shakers of the world.

Unfortunately, they are taking their money and their work ethic, at a time when both are in short supply.

Good luck folks, we'll miss you!

Johhnny Depp is another one, moved to France because of the "political" environment.

I started to say that Cowpill.

Until Tina Turner, he was the guy in my example of someone from Hollywood who ACTUALLY has convictions. Molly Ringwald lives in France too.

Regardless of politics, you have to give credit to people who are willing to stand-up for what they believe and make a major move like that. Of course, not all of them have pure motives. Some do it because they truly hate America, and to those i say good riddance. Others do it for the obvious tax reasons, while others pay tons of money to lawyers and accountants to (play the system.) Those are the ones who like to keep one foot here and another in the EU and try to take advantage of everyone and everything.

Then again, you can't take advantage of a system unless it allows you to.

Munky, it's a good enough reason to me. But she's said in interviews that she prefers Switzerland over any other place in the world.
