Go Oklahoma!

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma's congressional delegation is asking the U.S. Justice Department to explain why it got involved in a debate by state lawmakers over making English the state's official language.

The delegation sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday. It asks why the civil rights division reminded Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson last spring that state agencies that get federal funds must observe laws regarding people with limited proficiency in English.

The Legislature approved a resolution in May to allow voters to declare that English is Oklahoma's common and unifying language and that all official state actions must be conducted in English. It would bar lawsuits to have state services provided in languages other than English.

Wednesday, state Rep. Randy Terrill discussed his concern with the U.S. Justice Department's involvement.

"It is unprecedented for the federal Department of Justice to attempt to preemptively manipulate the outcome of state legislation and a subsequent referendum through the use of bullying, intimidation and threats," said Terrill, R-Moore. "The DOJ's actions were an unjustified and unwarranted intrusion into the sovereign affairs of our state government. States are not mere administrative arms of the federal government and the people of Oklahoma will not submit to blackmail and extortion."

I bet Spidey wishes Bloomberg would use the same argument for
New York where the 2nd Amendment is concerned instead of
pushing for a national gun ban. If this keeps up, I might
have to move from Mexas to Oklahoma. They tell me I was born
there
but I really don't remember. In Oklahoma, not Arizona.
What does it matter?
What does it matter?

QUOTABLE QUOTES
" Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow to be milked. Few realize it for what it is - the horse that pulls the whole cart." – Winston Churchill

Whitehorse, Yukon?

Reminds me of Hereford, Texas - except for Whitehorse has the Yukon River and Hereford has Tierra Blanca Creek (which is usually dry)...

But they don't put gravey on your fries in Hereford...

And the weather is a little different. :-)

GO OK!!

More state bodies need to stand up and tell DC to FO.

On the DC vs Local gub'ment front,

A large number of the local Obamanists are pissed off at our Governor. The Prez was here yesterday to push his Obamacare Program. (he actually spoke at the HS I dropped out of) (BFD, right?) The Messianics are mad because the Guv DIDN'T meet him at the airport, she DIDN'T go to the rally, and she DIDN'T go tell him goodbye when he left. In short, they're mad because she didn't worship at the altar of BOHICAism.

These same people wanted Bush and Cheney snubbed when they came here at various times.

Stupid, huh?

And what was she doing? Her job. We still don't have a budget here in NC.

Jimbo,
gravy on fries, with that nasty cheese curd crap!? I'll be hurling now. And that's hurling, not curling.

Hey Blue, say hi to Sarah for me. Ask her to keep me in mind for a job (head of National Security, head of FBI, head of Pay-Backs, etc.) in her upcoming administration. Tell her i'll bring my own rope, so i'm already cutting costs.

Oklahoma. Isn't that where all those folks dance and sing all the time? Anyway, i think any state (or anyone) that stands up to this Marxist govt. deserves much credit and support.

P.S.

Here's another look at "your" DOJ in action, or should i say, non-action. Remember this "outrageous" violation of one of our most sacred laws? And remember me saying at the time that this crime would "vanish" because of who was involved? There are times when i hate being right.

WORD OF THE DAY
BEER SUMMIT, n.

A feeble, self-serving, ploy aimed at getting a white Cambridge cop to kiss Skip Gate’s black ass then clean the crap off POTUS Punk’s shoes, after the Dumbo-eared Ethnocrat stepped in it.

Is that how you spell 'gravy'?

Well, blow me down.

I can't spell tater (in the "proper" non-Quayle manner), either.

Didja kou know if Oklahoma didn't suck so bad, Texas would fall into the Gulf?

I know - old joke.

Californians have the same joke about Arizona and Nevada - except they're wrong.

Actually, OK & TX have a lot in common. Like our accents. My Grandparents lived in OK. We would go see them in Elmore City every summer. I always got sunburns and chiggers.

You guys remember Elmore City, right? Well - I guess they changed the name of the town in the movie "Footloose" - but dancing was against the law (seriously) until after my grandparents died and I quit going there - early 70's.

*sigh*

For a guy like me who always danced like a drunk one-legged goose with gout - I didn't really care... 'cept a little happy-weed was a life sentence back then.

MY GAWD!!! I'm old.
