The Tree of Liberty Is Thirsty

" We respect the Office of The President of The United States of America. But make no mistake, as the duly-elected sheriffs of our respective counties, (we will) enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal official will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights, in particular, Amendment II, has given them..."

How's that for a public official? Perhaps this country is not completely dead yet...

There a ton of them saying that. My question is how the County Commissioners take the Sheriffs adopting such a stance. They can't fire them in most places because they are elected, but they can screw up their money.

Which ill piss off he Deputies and that will go back on the Commissioners. IMO, the Commissioners can support the Sheriffs, or they can face the voters on the next go around. Because at the end of the day, many people know who the Sheriff is and what he does, but the Commissioners just raise property taxes and hire the wrong school principals.

So who's gonna win THAT argument? The people and the Sheriff of course.

Sherriff Paul Babeu from Pima County just said basically the same thing.
