CAKE, my ASS, let 'em starve!!

.
We all know the old saw about Marie Antoinette's reply when she was told that French peasants had no bread to eat. It wasn't really her though, t'was Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who said it, but it would seem, he was just 3oo years ahead of the curve!
.

They're young, they're broke, and they pay for organic salmon with government subsidies.

.

In the John Waters-esque sector of northwest Baltimore -- equal parts kitschy, sketchy, artsy and weird -- Gerry Mak and Sarah Magida sauntered through a small ethnic market stocked with Japanese eggplant, mint chutney and fresh turmeric. After gathering ingredients for that evening's dinner, they walked to the cash register and awaited their moments of truth.

"I have $80 bucks left!" Magida said. "I'm so happy!"

"I have $12," Mak said with a frown.

The two friends weren't tabulating the cash in their wallets but what remained of the monthly allotment on their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program debit cards, the official new term for what are still known colloquially as food stamps.

Magida, a 30-year-old art school graduate, had been installing museum exhibits for a living until the recession caused arts funding -- and her usual gigs -- to dry up. She applied for food stamps last summer, and since then she's used her $150 in monthly benefits for things like fresh produce, raw honey and fresh-squeezed juices from markets near her house in the neighborhood of Hampden, and soy meat alternatives and gourmet ice cream from a Whole Foods a few miles away.

"I'm eating better than I ever have before," she told me.
.
Well, they voted for Obama and got the free bread, when do the circus tickets arrive? I have to tell you this pisses me off so bad. When my son was out of work, with a wife and two kids a few years ago, they told him he'd made too much money 18 months before he applied, to qualify. Not for the 18 mos preceding, but in a window, going back 18 to 24 months. But if he was still un-employed after a year, he could re-apply. Who the hell has their money from 2 years ago, laying around NOW to use?
.
That being the case, how do those single morons qualify? Because the Obamanoids and lefties changed the rules, that's how.
.
And I think they should get the basics too, not luxury stuff. I'm paying taxes and can't afford this kind of food. Why should I pay for theirs!? I'm assuming they're all orphans, and have no parents or siblings who can help?

This is new to you? I see this every time I go shopping. For the past 30 years I watched this. Only now they have a "benefit card" which includes this and their Medicaid. The best is when they do this wearing 12k worth of clothes and another 10k in bling. Then they get "CHANGE"!!!

Let them eat snake

Eat Me. And the liberal donkey they rode in on!

Steve, the two moochers in this story don't need their parents help. They have the Nation of Fools to help them.

When i go to the supermarket, i see loads of Russian immigrants with their food stamp cards, and 2 or 3 wagons filled with only the very best stuff, which they wheel out to their new BMW or Benz, while wearing full-length leather or fur. Any wonder why the world sees us as a joke?

I never see that. What I do see is people who use the card, then waddle their fat asses out to a Beemer or Caddy.

Either way, it's people scamming the system. And here's how I know.

I've got a buddy who's wife left him years ago and left him with their 3 kids. At various times he's LOST his food stamps / EBT card over the TYPES of vehicles he's owned. I went to court once with him over it. I realize they changed the rules, but they should have tightened them, not extended them to worthless scumbags like this!!

I take it you only buy mac & cheese and expired food with your disability payments?

In the words of that great American, Gov. George Wallace of Georgia,

"You don't work, you don't eat!"
