Demands of Kidnapper & CHINESE Negotiators

'I have 3 demands or I'll kill the boy!'

Negotiators assess the situation from next door.

Head Negotiator dispatched

Negotiations begin

Negotiations concluded

They probably spent $0.35 cents.
In our country, we would shut the street down for 48 hours. Take 12 hours to talk him out of it. Spend $5 million giving him a fair trial. And pay his food and lodging for life. No wonder their products are cheaper than ours!

A simple solution, and it works every time. Just think of the hundreds-of-billions we could save every year if we simply did away with our complex, ultra-expensive, and not very effective prisons and replaced them with firing squads.

Calm down. I know what you're saying. "well, what about those who may be innocent"? To show that i am not without compassion, i would demand a rule which states, "if the prisoner, after hearing the command to fire is still alive, he/she/it is then entitled to an appeal". As you can see, i too have a soft side.

Look again. It's the same guy. Maybe the lighting or the long-range lens made his shirt appear different.

As for wishing the US were more like that... well, it might be a handy tool to use against those pesky right wing extremists, eh?

Lets all be thankful that our government is cautious and compassionate in this matter to a flaw, because the alternative is pretty guresome and tyrannical. I give you China as a perfect example.

Reminds of the Chinese guy who supposedly went to save a bridge-jumper; and pushed the guy off 'cause he was inconveniencing a whole lot of people trying to get to work. As my boss used to tell me, 'stand by the window, I'll help you out.'

Who has the lower crime rate?

You couldn't possibly be suggesting that the crime fighting methods in CHina are preferrable to those used in the USA, could you?

You realize that anyone posting on this blog in China would be considered criminal, and would probably be in jail, don't you?

It truly baffles me how many people on this site seem willing to give up freedoms and liberties that our founding fathers died to obtain for us simply because in doing so, the crime rate would go down, or our chances of experiencing another terrorist attack would be reduced.

Just what are cowards like that willing to die (or get mugged) for, if not for the maintenance and salvation of our essential liberties to pass on to our children?

As for me, I'll take my chances. I would BY FAR much rather a guilty man walks free than to punish an innocent man for a crime he did not commit.

It's not all or nothing. The fact is would the immediate justice outweigh lawyering BS?

Goober said...

Anon;

Provide examples of "lawyering BS" and I'll respond. I'm not sure what you're speaking of, but for the most part, judges here in the US keep a pretty tight leash on what lawyers can do in the courtroom.

Our legal system is not as incompetent as people like to pretend it is. OJ Simpson was a fluke, caused by a horrible judge that should never have sat on the bench to begin with.

If you can provide examples of flippant behavior in our criminal justice system, I'll try and respond as best I can, but until then, your response was just too general.
