OBAMA TO TAKE ON COLLEGE FOOTBALL RULES...
.
The Obama administration is considering several steps that would review the legality of the controversial Bowl Championship Series, the Justice Department said in a letter Friday to a senator who had asked for an antitrust review.
In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch's request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws.
"Importantly, and in addition, the administration also is exploring other options that might be available to address concerns with the college football postseason," Weich wrote, including asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the legality of the BCS under consumer protection laws.
Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the championship game.
.
That's right boys and girls, Barack Hussein Obama is so under-employed, that he's looking into college fucking football to fill his days. Boys and girls, this MFer has GOT to go. And November of 2012 is WAY to long to wait.

This Time I Agree
I'm aware that there are those who say, it's for strategical reasons. But this is the 21st century. We have aircraft that can reach any point on earth in hours, and missiles in only minutes. We have the ability to send unmanned killer drones, which can be controlled from a coffee shop in Kansas, and stored anywhere. We have the ability to dispatch Rapid Response Teams of Special Ops troops anywhere, and in short order. So why the endless foreign deployments?
We have a few thousand troops stationed in S. Korea (since the late 50's) ostensibly to stop a N. Korean invasion of the South. Can a few thousand troops stop an invasion by millions of N. Koreans? And if the idea is to make known that any force used against our troops there would be viewed as an act of war against the US, couldn't that same thing be accomplished with a firm political statement from the WH, such as we have with Taiwan?
It costs us hundreds-of-billions each year to keep our troops based in all these countries, countries where, not only are they not wanted, but the host countries don't contribute one dollar. Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to build more aircraft carriers, which could hold many Special Ops teams, and UAV's, (and "anything" else) that are mobile and can be sent anywhere, anytime?
Hey, i'm no military expert by any means, but it seems to me we're talking about common-sense solutions here. Unless of course, there are political, ($$) and corporate ($$) reasons for keeping the situation as is. Might the armchair generals at the Pentagon also lose ($$) out? Ok Commander Steveo, let's hear it...

Did Obama lie or is he stupid?
Obama Was Wrong and Alito Was Right
(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama was wrong and Justice Samuel Alito was right.
During his first State of the Union speech on Wednesday, President Barack Obama incorrectly stated that foreign nationals and foreign entities can now contribute unlimited amounts of money to U.S. political campaigns because of a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling lifting certain campaign finance restrictions.
This prompted an immediate reaction from Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who, sitting directly in front of the president, shook his head and apparently mouthed the words “not true” when Obama made his remark.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a 'man' who claims to have an Ivy League law education (since his transcripts are sealed, this is only speculation), Odumbass has a surprisingly inadequate grasp of U.S. Law.
Is he mistaken, stupid, or lying? My answer: YES! His presidency is a mistake, and he is a stupid liar. I believe he knew he was telling a flat-out lie.
The problem at hand: 100% of liberals and 50% of "independents" believe his blatant lies.
Communist dictators depend on a population of ignorant drones to gain and keep power. With the help of the NEA, Odumbass has gained the power. It is up to us, and blogs like this, to assure he is a lame duck - or is that lame dork?
Buy bullets, boys & girls. One thing we have that Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and Red China didn't have (and still don't) is the Second Amendment brought to us by Founding Fathers who were not only genius in their writing of the Constitution, but surprisingly prophetic.
*sigh*
"I'm For The People"
Queen Botox is, IMO, a perfect example of why our system of government is a failure. Not just this government, but the entire system, because it's all based on corruption, secrecy, and lies. In fact, it is a system that is designed to attract the corrupt. And, if you happen to be a sincere and honest person getting into politics who truly wants to help the people, that system will soon change you, or sweep you aside and render you powerless. An excellent example is NY's junior senator Gillibrand, who took Hitlary's senate seat. Although a Demoncrat, she was from upstate NY, an area with few Demoncrats, and represented the will of the voters there, such as being pro-gun and pro-Second Amendment. After getting Hitlary's seat, and spending a couple of months "under the wing" of Chuck (lens lice) Schumer, NY's radical, and insatiably ambitious, Leftist senator, almost all of her views have changed to mirror his. Apparently, she's been told she need not bother concerning herself with what her constituents want now that she's part of the "overwhelming majority". And it seems she's fallen right into line.
When i was younger, i remember asking my dearly departed Dad why he chose not to vote. He said it's because the whole system is corrupt, and i will not further the activities of criminals. I asked, "how could that be"? He would say, "give me a rational explanation why someone would spend $20, or 30, or 50, or 100 Million dollars to get a job that pays $200k a year, especially a job that may only last 4 or 6 years"? Till this day, i still can't come up with a rational explanation, except for the one in the below-linked article, which simply proves his point...
It's All Somebody Elses Fault
But i did see something else in Obummer last night, and also on the faces of many Demoncrats. It was fear and desperation! Many of them clearly know their careers may be coming to an end, (i hope) and not by their own choosing. They can hear the frightening sound of a huge bulldozer behind them, moving slowly and steadily toward them, and sweeping away everything in it's path. That bulldozer is called the voters. I just hope it doesn't run out of gas before the mid-term elections...
Who are "we", I've lost track truly
It's 2010, we've got a black, er, negro, er, mulatto, er, mixed race, er...President. But what IS he. Depends on who you ask it seems.
.
The U.S. Census Bureau has found itself enmeshed in controversy over the use of an old bit of nomenclature to identify race on its 2010 Census form.
A tide of indignation has risen over Question 9, which asks for the person's race. Next to one of the 15 boxes that can be checked are three choices: black, African American or Negro.
Census officials have gotten an earful in recent days as black activists, politicians and community leaders have expressed displeasure over the decision to include the final word.
Even though “Negro” was on previous census forms, and despite the approval of its use this year by the bureau's African American Advisory Committee, demands are flying to ditch the forms and print new ones.
With questionnaires scheduled to be sent out March 1, that is not likely to happen. But the bureau has agreed to send out about 30,000 questionnaires without the word to test the response.
“Negro” has remained on the form because the population counters kept getting forms back with the word written in — more than 55,000 in the 2000 Census — even though it was included as one of the selections. That suggested that some blacks still preferred the term and had not noticed it as a third choice.
.
Here's an idea, how about an open poll of anyone with any amount of racial identity from Africa. Let's get an answer to this question once and for all, voted for by the majority of the people involved racially, with them making the final decision. Then we stick with it for at least three more census cycles.
.
As harsh as this is to say, I'm sick of the topic. I've been white my whole life. I was Caucasian when I was born or so I thought, but by modern anthropological nomenclature, I'm now Caucasoid. WHEW, that's a huge change. But I didn't ask for it either way!!!
.
But by my accounting, and in the last 40 odd years, this racial group has demanded changes about every 15 years. WHY? But now removing "Negro" from the playing field, at a cost of millions of dollars seems crazy. And there was a "committee" who approved of the forms wording.
.
Hey, maybe the committee should pay for the new forms!! Yeah, that's the ticket. And I've got ten bucks that says Sean Combs and P. Rogers Nelson are behind this whole debate!!
Wanna be a NYC Real Estate mogul?
Well you won't have a choice, probably. Read this article, ALL the way to the end. It's a bad joke, with an almost hidden punchline.
.
Wide Fallout in Failed Deal for Stuyvesant Town
.
We're talking Billions of dollars worth of NYC real estate that's had its value cut more than in half. But, as with the rest of the country, it was not really worth the billions stated. It was worth that, only on paper, boosted by speculators, looking for the long ride profits. Then this bubble thing happened. Now the speculators want the bubble makers to back new loans.
.
It's an interesting read. Just don't read it if you have a weak stomach.
French report calls for burqa ban
A French parliament report has called for a ban on the full Islamic veil in all schools, hospitals, public transport and government offices.
The parliament commission said the burqa is an affront to French values following six months of hearings.
'The wearing of the full veil is a challenge to our republic. This is unacceptable,' the report by a parliament commission said. 'We must condemn this excess.'
The report recommended that women who turn up at government offices wearing the full veil should be denied services such as a work visa, residency papers or French citizenship.
.
I see how it works, ban some of the basic tenets of their religion of pieces, for the good of the country and they'll leave and go elsewhere. I gotta give it to 'em, they hit this croissant out of the park.
I guess all we need to do, is ban burqas, burritos and secular humanism, and America will be saved. Awsome.
Calling Capt. Kirk
Now, from London, that hot-bed of "scientific" knowledge, comes another of their theories. This time it's space aliens living here on earth. Keep in mind that these are the same goofballs who've been telling us that the earths ice will all melt in a few years, which i find depressing, because enjoying a Southern Comfort without ice is to me, vulgar. It's also no surprise that these "tinfoil hats" are the ones the UN relies on for all it's "scientific" information, which explains a lot.
Actually, i have always been one who believes that we're not alone in the universe. That there is highly intelligent life elsewhere. (no, i don't drink this early) To believe other wise is to me, arrogant. It's also very scary to think that we are the most intelligent life forms around, which would be an insult to anything else that's alive out there. Have they been here? Are they here now? And if so, do they vote? If they do vote, that too would explain a lot...
A majority of Americans want smaller Gub'ment
Do tell!
.
Fifty eight percent of respondents favor smaller government while 38 percent prefer a larger government and more services, according to the poll. The small government preference has climbed 4 points since the last time our pollsters asked the question in June and 5 points from almost the same time a year ago.
A general preference for a small government dates back to 1992 -- as far back as Post polling goes on the question. In the first year of the Clinton administration, 55 percent of Americans wanted a smaller government, while 38 percent wanted a bigger one.
.
I bet they're saying that on these polls, as a repudiation of George W. Bush's fiscal policies and because they're mad at the banks.
The New World Order
It's hard enough trying to survive in spite of what our own corrupt, lying, incompetent, elected crooks are doing in DC. Now, that other well-known group of corrupt, lying, incompetent crooks at the UN want a piece of the action. Our action! It's no secret that the UN sees itself as "the worlds government", with powers over sovereign nations. If anyone has any doubt about that, i'm sure those doubts will disappear after reading this article.
Normally, i would've had a big laugh reading this story and thinking about how totally nuts those phonies at the UN really are. But then i realized that we are now under the rule of a lying Marxist in the WH, and an off-the-wall socialist congress that does almost everything he says. I also realized that Odumbo would probably be the first leader to go along with this UN takeover of the world, starting with us! Never have Thomas Jefferson's words been more relevant than they are now...
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
About life at Camp Schteveo...
As many of you know, I'm helping home school my 11 y/o g'son. Since we started in Sept, I've discovered some interesting things about this boy, and he had a day long series of tests yesterday with professional shrinks and brain tweakers.
.
First, he has a memory problem, that he's evidently inherited from his mother and paternal grandfather. He simply cannot retain facts and figures. He still, at almost 12, counts on his fingers. Those rote skills we take for granted, he doesn't have. He can, however, remember and recall anything tied to a visual or aural event. He can recite lines from songs, TV shows, movies etc, after just 1 time of seeing it.
He has a lag in his reaction time. He can write down an answer quicker than he can verbalize it. He does not, and cannot run. He lopes, trots or jogs, but RUN, is not in his brain to be sent south.
However, he is far ahead of most people in his facial and body acuity skills. He reads body language very well in other words. He is above average in verbal usage for his age group. And he sees systems and patterns and connections if he has the time to look at the entire set of items or parameters. He'd be a good detective or interrogator I suspect.
He's a whiz at art and is a fair cook already. And that's the layout, after my 5 months. Here's what we can't figure out,
.
WHY, oh WHY, didn't the idiots in the schools pick up on some of this? If not the teachers, the testers? He was tested periodically because he is ADHD. Or more to the point. Is it, that they are SO worried about these children's self-esteem, that they'd rather ruin their lives at 18 when they graduates HS ignorant, than tell them, and the parents, that the child has a Life Long disability, at 8 or 10 when they get tested?
.
I think it's the latter.
True Friendship.
1. When you are sad, I will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey, jacked up on Mountain Dew!
2. When you are blue, I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
3. When you smile, I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.
4. When you're scared, we will high tail it out of here.
5. When you are worried, I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining, ya big baby!
6. When you are confused, I will use little words until it passes. Oh? Kay?
7. When you are sick, stay away from me until you are well again.
I don't want whatever you have, ewwwww.
8. When you fall, I'll pick you up and dust you off--but AFTER I'm through laughing my butt off!
9. This is my oath. I pledge it to the end. "Why?", you may ask;
-- because you are my FRIEND!
Finally remember that friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only YOU can feel the true warmth.
It is impossible to address the problem of rampant crime without talking about the moral responsibility of the intended victim. Crime is rampant because the law-abiding, each of us, condone it, excuse it, permit it, submit to it. We permit and encourage it because we do not fight back, immediately, then and there, where it happens. Crime is not rampant because we do not have enough prisons, because judges and prosecutors are too soft, because the police are hamstrung with absurd technicalities. The defect is there, in our character. We are a nation of cowards and shirkers.
Air America Radio closing, filing for bankruptcy
Progressive radio network once aired commentary from Franken, Maddow
LOS ANGELES - Air America Radio, a radio network that was launched in 2004 as a liberal alternative to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative commentators, on Thursday shut down abruptly due to financial woes.
The network once boasted hosts such as Al Franken
and Rachel Maddow, but struggled from the outset, including multiple management shake-ups, a bankruptcy in 2006 and sale for $4.25 million the following year. Air America ceased airing new programs Thursday afternoon and said it will soon file to be liquidated under Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It began broadcasting reruns of programs and would end those as well Monday night.
"The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a `perfect storm' in the media industry generally," the company said in a statement on its Web site.
The New York-based network said its "painstaking search for new investors" came close to succeeding even this week, "but ultimately fell short."
New York real estate magnate Stephen Green and his brother, politician Mark Green
, bought the company out of bankruptcy in March 2007. Air America said 10 consecutive quarters of declining ad revenue and the difficulty of making money on the Internet contributed to its troubles.
The network had some 100 radio outlets nationwide.
Franken, a Democrat, hosted his own show from 2004 to 2007 before leaving to campaign for a U.S. senate seat in Minnesota, which he won last year after a recount battle decided by the state Supreme Court.
Maddow went on to host her own TV show on MSNBC.
This is just good news all the way around except I doubt the "very difficult economic environment" had anything to do with it.
Peer-Reviewed, My Arse!
Hey Ed Begley Jr, you twat! You remember how you were shouting up and down about “peer-reviewed science” on that TV program like it was the holy grail of infallibility? So, does a 15-minute phone call that didn’t indicate any substantial melting resulting in an IPCC report showing the glaciers would be gone by 2035 qualify? Have you opened your eyes to the scam that this is yet, or are you still kneeling at the alter of Mother Gaia hoping that she will strike down the truth with her all-encompassing powers so that you can go on believing?
Twat.
It occurs to me that the Scott Brown thing...
The one thing that I can guarantee with certainty is that if the republicans get back into power, they will commence to screwing things up again, just like they did before. There still isn’t anything new under the sun.
Of course, the American Public, in their infinite wisdom, has such a short memory that every time this happens, the new party coming into power is hailed as the savior of all things. So soon we all forgot how much THEY screwed things up when THEY were in power, and hail their return as if they are our own personal governmental messiahs (sound familiar?). Brown is nothing more than a symbol of things to come; he is a symbol of the return of the “guys that didn’t screw things up nearly as badly”, which pretty much sums up the republican’s campaign strategy (which is working, thank God, because I do not want another Day of democrat supermajority, thanks very much!)
They are not saviors or messiahs, though, and as long as we Americans sit idly by and accept a two-party system as if there were no other alternative, we will continue to be forced to choose between worst and worster (coined a new word there, I think). I take no glee in that. I find no victory in the fact that we’ve banished one evil in return for a lesser evil.
As long as we are forced by our own complacency and willful ignorance of things recently passed to adhere to a two-party system, I can only prescribe the following, and pray that we all follow this as closely as possible:
1.) Always, always, ALWAYS have an executive branch of a different political party than the current majority in congress. They will spend much of their time arguing amongst themselves and leave us the heck alone;
2.) Never, ever allow one party to achieve supermajority status in either house (for obvious reason);
3.) Vote out incumbents at all opportunities, whenever the playing field is roughly even. Obviously, if the challenger is bad enough, don’t vote for them, but if they are roughly even (like an Obama vs. McCain ticket, for instance) then vote for the guy not currently in office, even if it means voting for the party you disagree with. This will accomplish two things. One, it will ensure that the people in congress are relatively clean – they won’t have had the time to get embroiled with lobbyists and special interests and get “dirty”. Two, it will ensure that the majority in the houses will flop back and forth often enough that they will be too interested in undoing the things that the previous party did to foist anymore crap upon us.
I know that this will gridlock our government, but that isn’t a bug so much as it is a feature. I have a revelation for those of you who think you need the government – you don’t. You’ll be fine without them, with the exception of local governmental activities such as law enforcement and fire suppression and roads and such, but I’m not talking local governments. I’m talking the feds. As far as I’m concerned, all they ought to be doing is representing us on a global relations level, supporting a common defense, and ensuring the states play nice with each other. Other than that, gridlock is the best option in my opinion.
It's Bush's fault!!
As audience members streamed out of Pres. Obama's rally on behalf of AG Martha Coakley (D) here tonight, the consensus was that the fault for Coakley's now-floundering MA SEN bid lies with one person -- George W. Bush.
"One thing the Democrats have done wrong? We haven't kept the focus on this disaster on the Republicans who brought it upon us. We've tried too hard to do that right thing, and that's to fix it, as opposed to spend more of our time and energy pointing the finger at who got us [here] in the first place."
Waaahaaahaaah!
Words Of Wisdom
1. Ignorance: Not only their own arrogant ignorance but a vigorous campaign to keep you ignorant. They deliberately ignore history that does not match their own myopic world view. It does not matter to them that every place that has moved more socialist invariably ends up worse off. If unable to ignore it they show their arrogance by saying it won’t happen this time because they’re smarter. If truly cornered they will resort to changing the subject, infantile name calling, and non-existent “facts” that “everyone” knows are true. They refuse to recognize the U.S. Constitution and if not denigrating it they refer to it as a living document that can be changed by whim. The recent secret meetings on health care “reform” show they know the only way to pass this turkey is to keep you ignorant. They teach your children all of the worst of our history and none of the best. They hide the real climate data. Need I go on?
2. Apathy: They need your apathy. They need you to believe you can’t do anything. They need you to sit on your butt while they steal the country. They need you to think ACORN is not a problem. They need you to not vote, thinking that all politicians are just as bad. They need you to watch “reality” TV instead of paying attention to what is going on. Most of all they need you to keep your mouth shut.
3. Fear: It is important for them to keep you afraid. A good crisis is invaluable to them and if one does not appear they invent one. If they can get you to believe there is a crisis you won’t read the small print. The health care crisis. The homeless crisis. Global warming crisis. The aids crisis. Etc. Etc. Etc. As soon as you get over one, they come up with another. They prevent good people from running by making them afraid all of the petty things they did will be exposed. They shut people up with the fear of ridicule.
4. Greed: They promise something for nothing. They prey on the poor by telling them the rich are rich because they took that money from the poor. They promise the government will support them. They created class envy and feed it every chance they get. They need you to stand out there with your hand out expecting someone else, not you, is going to fix the problem. They come up with imaginary rights to home ownership, health care, and the idea that you deserve something more than a chance. When the wheels fall off, as they always do, it’s always someone else’s fault. There are never consequences for bad judgment unless you are rich, white, conservative, or against them in any way.
5. Arrogance: Blind, absolute, monumental arrogance. They are smarter than you. They know what is best for you. They speak better than you. They care more than you. They truly think that they deserve to be elected. Hillary was crowned the smartest woman in the world. Obama’s moronic apology tour was called confident leadership and diplomacy. By the way, as a side note, the best definition I have found for diplomacy is saying nice doggy while reaching for a club. Nancy stood up in front of us and said the house health care debate was the most open in history. If elected they think they are your leaders, not your employees. They really believe they can get everyone to play nice. If you complain it is because you are too stupid to understand, a liar, cheat, right wing extremist, and/or domestic terrorist. If nothing else works they change the definition of words and blame the republicans...
Don't be ignorant, don’t let your school system teach lies, and don’t keep your mouth shut when you are being told lies. Find some someone who is willing to put up with the election process and make sure he or she understands the Constitution. Don’t be a single issue voter. If the only thing you care about is abortion or guns then two things happen. One is that the candidate will either lie to you to get your vote or spend several minutes wasting your time saying nothing. Two is all the other things that you don’t care about will bite you after the election. A good, conservation candidate that will listen can be swayed.
Do get off your butt, do present your point of view, even in the face of ridicule, get the facts and have them ready. Don’t ask the government for anything you can fix yourself. Every time you are moved to say “there aught to be a law” stop, there probably already is. Write your paper, write your congressman, and write your friends. Listen to all points of view, base your point of view on hard facts. Give a helping hand where you can. Go to a TEA party...
Stupid Anologies and Stupider Politicians
In an article titled, "Senate Can Pass Health With 51 Votes, Van Hollen Says", there is a very poignant quote.
.
The quote comes from Chris Van Hollen who is chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The topic is passing the Obamacare plan, if [when] Scott Brown wins Teddy the Swimmers seat in the Senate.
So we have the topic, Obamacare, the crux, Ted's seat possibly being taken by a Republican. You know Republicans, those guys everyone knows ruined the economy.
.
Here's what this dim whit says about Brown getting the power in the Senate to break the super majority.
.
Van Hollen said Republican predictions that the political climate had changed so much that they can capture the 40 seats needed to regain control of the House was “pure hallucination.”
“Why would you hand the keys to the car back to the same guys whose policies drove the economy into the ditch and then walked away from the scene of the accident?”
.
Would you EVER use a car wreck analogy with Ted Kennedy in the set up of the situation!? How stupid and insensitive is this clown?!
.
.
Stunned Schteveo
Let me say, HUH?!
DARPA is complaining that there are no "geeks" out there to hire. And it's a security risk.
.
No geeks, why not? The community college and full university computer science classes are packed. Engineering classes too. I believe the problem is one of GIFTED, INSPIRED and TALENTED people in these fields.
One of my best friends sons just graduated from school with a mechanical engineering degree. He's having trouble finding a job. Granted, the economy is down, but doesn't that also show a glut of people working in the field, when the top in the class are struggling?
I've known this kid all his life, he's smart, good looking, personable, and he, nor his class toppers, can get an interview to get a foot in the door. There's much more at work here than just a lack of candidates.
On a lighter side, there is the Wile E. Coyote factor.
When I was growing up, we saw Wile E. build and design all sorts of fantasmagorical devices. We saw the space race go from ideas to the moon. We went from pencils and paper and logarithm books, to graphing calculators. From tail dragger airplanes to supersonic jets for civilian travel. And on and on.
The kids NOW are living in an age where 99% of the products are consumer driven, entertainment, "fun time", crap. Most of which is obsolete in 18 months when the new whiz-bang-whimmy-diddle comes out, with twice the speed and 4 times the bass volume. I don't think, kids now, or for the last 20 + years have been taught, by schools or mom and dad, to reach very far or work much before graduating college.
Here's the basic problem, you don't HAVE TO take the engine apart on a BRAND NEW car. A NEW iPod doesn't need fixing. You don't fix brakes, tweek carbs, replace radios, replace capstans, rollers, motors etc., on NEW stuff, they are GIVEN every new toy that comes out. And if it breaks, go get a new one.
I fixed and tweaked and got zapped by many an old radio, 8-track player and TV as a kid. I busted knuckles on plenty of bicycles and lawnmowers and old washing machines learning about stuff and looking for parts for ???. That was LONG before I ever worked professionally as a VW mechanic, or before I trained in the Navy in I &C, or before I then worked in computer controlled industrial machinery, and finally straight computer work. I partly trained myself, out of both interest AND need.
Personally the need taught me more than interest. My interests lead me, my needs kept me going. I HAD to fix that crappy VW if I was going to drive. I HAD to fix the radio if we were going to play 8-tracks, then I HAD to install it and run the wires, drill holes mount the speakers.
Now if kids want to listen, drive or whatever, mom and dad buy them a new, shiny, running, blaring, loud as hell, thumping, internet connecting, texting, sexting, go fast.
Where's the learning?
The seven original astronauts, did NOT become pilots, because mom and dad BOUGHT THEM airline tickets. Nor did the ground guys, designers, technical support people at NASA become "those people at NASA" because mom and dad "bought" anything. Most of them started out as tinkerers.
At heart they were Wile E. Coyotes or better still for their time, Rube Goldbergs. Cobbling new stuff from existing knowledge and stretching to create the new. You don't learn to stretch up, or learn to climb a tree, if every apple is handed to you.
DARPA should go into the iPod, internet, texting, cell phone ad-ons, sexting thing, that seems profitable. We're doomed.
...and then we used to have a Fri joke thing...
OK, here's the punch line...$8000!!
.
BWAHAHAHAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
.
But, unfortunately, here's the set-up.
.
Did you here that some car company in New Delhi was selling 2 seat, 630cc cars for $2500?
.
I did, but did you hear how much the EPA and Highway Safety people jacked up the price to keep us safe!!?
No, how much does that same car cost in America!!?
.
$8000!! [enter rim shot]
That's right, the smog and safety shit on that costs $5500, over twice the cost of the original car. Now that's progress, I want to shoot a progressive.
Scott Brown takes first polling lead in MA race
By Aaron Blake - 01/15/10 08:47 AM ET
Scott Brown is showing his first lead in a poll on the Massachusetts special election.
Suffolk University has the GOP state senator leading Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley 50-46.
“Although the results show a race within the statistical margin of error, Scott Brown has surged dramatically,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk Political Research Center. “He is attracting independent support by a wide margin and even winning some Democrats who won’t vote the party line this time.”
The poll has Brown getting 65 percent of independents, which is on par with other surveys that show him neck-and-neck. He also holds more voters from his own party, 91 percent to Coakley's 78.
I don't know about you, but I'm hoping, praying and keeping my fingers crossed over this one... and I contributed to Brown's campaign!
The Gestapo Marches On
On Haiti
I'm not going all touchy feely here, but listen up, and see if there are holes in my reasoning.
.
Since the Coup in Haiti in 2004, and the U.N. going in there to re-establish order, over 9 BILLION, with a "B", dollars that have been dumped into the country.
Here's how the numbers break out, using my manually operated common sense, an old calculator and Al Gore's interweb thingy for fact finding.
There are about 9 million people in Haita TODAY, there were about 7.5 million when the coup happened. If you divide that $9B, into today's population, it comes to around $1k, per person in the country in NEW foreign aid since the coup. OK, if you divide that money by the 6 years, roughly, it doesn't amount to much per capita. Only $166 per year, per capita.
BUT, and this is a huge BUT...
The Average Yearly Income Per Capita in Haiti, is $270 NOW. Adding that $166 to that is a 61% raise in income. But foreign aid NEVER goes to the people who need it. New money, invariably, winds up in the hands of those who already have much, especially in places like Haiti. But imagine what it would be like if they had just handed that money to the people, for the last 6 years.
Who knows, maybe the economy would have taken off, with the people able to buy stupid stuff, like food or clothes or housing. Sad but true. And oddly, in that same vein, imagine what OUR economy would be like right now IF, the Stimulus money last year had been handed to us, instead of to the banks, mortgage companies and car companies.
XI; Thou Shalt Do As I Say
First, the mayor unleashed his tobacco-Nazi's. As a former smoker, His Majesty no longer likes to smoke, and therefore feels no one should have the right to smoke if they choose. Did he make cigarettes illegal? No, and not for a lack of trying. But he did the next best thing. Tax! Here in NYC, a pack of smokes is about $12.50 with all the taxes included.
Next came the automobile-Nazi's. His Majesty learned in Britain (of all places) that the govt. was getting away with taxing people for simply driving their cars into the city. That's above and beyond the road-use tax people already pay. As usual, the law would not have applied to the mayors wealthy friends and supporters in upper Manhattan. Even in a very liberal place like NYC, the people had enough and beat back his plan. In a city that has the nations highest registration fees, highest parking fees, highest parking violation penalties, and among the highest insurance fees, it was the straw that broke the camels back. But he's still trying.
Then came the Food-Nazi's. His Majesty hired some gay doctor to lead the city's Health Dept., which of course meant the mayor was in charge. No trans-fats. No donuts. No soda, etc. All the things His Majesty likes to eat, (and does) were all but criminalized. And as a typical Leftist, the mayor has no problem inventing statistics to bolster his claims. According to His Majesty, thousands, tens-of-thousands, and millions of people are dying in NYC from not following his "advise". Of course, the MSM never challenges his bizarre claims. Now, it's salt. And next week? That depends on what His Majesty no longer likes...
Too pampered, Too entitled and Too sad
Here's an article that makes me wonder where doctors, psychologists and researchers live, that they had to do a study to find out that America's Youth are whiny, needy, greedy and all about ME, ME, ME.
.
Study: Youth Now Have More Mental Health Issues
.
A new study has found that five times as many high school and college students are dealing with anxiety and other mental health issues than youth of the same age who were studied in the Great Depression era.
The findings, culled from responses to a popular psychological questionnaire used as far back as 1938, confirm what counselors on campuses nationwide have long suspected as more students struggle with the stresses of school and life in general.
"It's another piece of the puzzle — that yes, this does seem to be a problem, that there are more young people who report anxiety and depression," says Jean Twenge, a San Diego State University psychology professor and the study's lead author. "The next question is: what do we do about it?"
.
Well, I, ME, Schteveo the Blogger, as a father, and someone not blinded by my PhD, MD or need for next years grant money, I have the answer to this problem. I can save America's youth, and our mutual future, yes, I do, I have the answer.
.
QUIT MOLLYCODDLING AND TELLING THEM THEY CAN DO NO WRONG. MAKE THEM GET A JOB, DO THEIR HOMEWORK, RESPECT THEIR TEACHERS, PREACHERS, POLICEMEN, AND ANYONE FIVE GD YEARS OLDER THAN THEM. TEACH THEM THE WORDS, SIR AND MA'AM!! MAKE THEM OBEY THE LAW, DON'T BLAME THE COPS WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT SHOPLIFTING, SPEEDING OR DRIVING DRUNK ACROSS MRS. GRUNDY'S YARD!! MAKE THEM RIDE THE FUCKING SCHOOL BUS, OR DRIVE, AND CONSTANTLY REPAIR, A 20 YEAR OLD AMERICAN MADE, 4 DOOR TANK OF A VAN OR FAMILY CART!!! TURN OFF THE VIDEO GAMES, COMPUTERS AND CELL PHONE, BREAK THEIR MP3 PLAYERS AND REQUIRE THEIR PRESENCE AT THE DINNER TABLE. MAKE THEM WASH THE GD DISHES!!! WHEN THEY DON'T FOLLOW THE RULES OF ANY GROUP, SCHOOL OR INSTITUTION, SPANK THEIR ASSES AND THEN EXPLAIN THEIR FAILURE WEIGHED AGAINST SOCIETY'S RULES, WHILE GIVING THEM JUICE AND COOKIES, A HUG WILL SOLVE THE TEARS AND SHOW THEM THAT YOU DO LOVE THEM EVEN IF YOU BEAT THEIR ASSES FOR TRANSGRESSIONS.
.
Whew, I'm feeling much better now. The article continues,
.
Amid it all, Hunter says this latest generation has been raised in a "you can do anything atmosphere." And that, he says, "sets up a lot of false expectation" that inevitably leads to distress for some.
It's also meant heartache for parents.
"I don't remember it being this hard," says a mother from northern New Jersey, whose 15-year-old daughter is being treated for depression. She asked not to be identified to respect her daughter's privacy.
.
I especially liked this, raised in a "you can do anything atmosphere." Do you suppose things like, everybody getting a trophy, no letter grades, and being given everything, could be the problem?
.
The real telling thing about "researchers and studies" is that they are weighing these whining moppets against MY PARENTS, who grew up during the Depression, WWII, Korea and who got married and raised kids in the 50's, 60's and 70's. People who were raised to think of God, Family and Country, didn't have a "ME" on their radar. Which by the way, didn't even exist for the for 15 years of their lives!!
.
.
UPDATE: Well, the RICH people are re-thinking how their kids have been raised. Imagine that, I was poor, and right, without being black or brown.
Yeah Michigan State!
The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indrek Wichman. Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's Association. The e-mail was in response to the students' protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The group had complained the cartoons were 'hate speech' Enter Professor Wichman.
In his e-mail, he said the following:
Dear Muslim Association, As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest. I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called 'whores' in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France.
This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many, many of my colleagues..I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Muslims to be very aware of this as you proceed with your infantile 'protests.' If you do not like the values of the West - see the 1st Amendment - you are free to leave.. I hope for God's sake that most of you choose that option. Please return to your ancestral homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.
Cordially,
I. S. Wichman Professor of Mechanical Engineering As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn't like this too well. They're demanding that Wichman be reprimanded and the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty. And mandate a seminar on hate and discrimination for all freshmen. Now the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray . CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn't believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion.
For its part, the university is standing its ground in support of Professor Wichman, saying the e-mail was private, and they don't intend to publicly condemn his remarks.
FINAL PROOF!!! with an UPDATE!
We have often commented here, and elsewhere, that Liberal Democrats have an aversion to Truth, Justice and the American Way. Especially, the truth part of that.
.
This week, in a mostly hidden story, it was slipped that Harry Reid told the TRUTH about what he thought of Barack Obama being elected as POTUS. And when he was reported as having told the truth, he backed away from his statements. Guess why? Because his remarks were "racially insensitive".
.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid went into damage control over the weekend, mobilizing a raft of supportive statements both in Washington, D.C., and Nevada after news broke that during the 2008 presidential campaign he said Barack Obama had an advantage because he's "light-skinned" and has "no Negro dialect" unless he wants to employ it.
.
I don't see where that statement is wrong, untruthful, or "racially insensitive". Let's say, for instance, that the Democrats had been pushing someone who is the very antithesis of Mr. Obama. Suppose that INSTEAD of the tall, well spoken and ONLY HALF AFRICAN AMERICAN Mr. Obama, just suppose, the democrats had run for POTUS candidate William Drayton Jr.?
.
Perhaps Mr. Drayton would have made a better President than Mr. Obama, and here's how. Drayton is well known to most Americans, before he began his run, most of us had never heard of Obama. Mr. Drayton has a huge following in the African American community and among young white Americans, Mr. Obama did not. Mr. Drayton is a known successful entrepreneur, and he's been a spokesmen for various causes that benefit the urban centers of America, Mr. Obama was ONLY working in Chicago. Mr. Obama has been accused of being late or slow to act, where as Mr. Drayton is known for his timepiece.
.
However, it occurs to me that many of us wouldn't know Mr. Drayton by his given name, but, then again, we didn't know 'Barry' Obama to start with either. I guess if you don't know Mr. Drayton, you can look at his page over at IMDb. Then you can decide who would make the better leader of the free world, Mr. Drayton, or Mr. Obama. But remember, Mr. Obama is tall, educated, well spoken and light skinned, Mr. Drayton most decidely is NONE of those things.
.
But I digress and too long from my original point, Harry Reid spoke the truth as he sees it, but because the subject of that truth is half-NEGRO, he had to retract the statement so the PCascists could sleep again. And might I add, what a crock of horseshit, that is, BO-EEE!!
.
OH, and Here is Mr. Drayton's page.
.
UPDATE: Michael Steele says Dems and MSM have a dual standard and the Harry Reid remarks prove it. I think Steele needs to go anyway, but saying this NOW further proves it. Steele, as I see it, is leader of the Day Late and a Dollar Short Club, and again, the fact that he waited for this situation to accuse the Democrats and the MSM of lying and collusion.
If You Live In Chicago, Move!
Of course, the explanation used for this insanity is, as always, "diversity". Meaning? They want more unqualified blacks (and maybe illegals also?) carrying badges and guns (and authority) in Chi-town. Even NYC, with it's ever-growing diversity program isn't that nuts. While it's true that in recent years, the NYPD has lowered it's entrance standards to the point where they're almost non-existent in order to attract blacks, gays, midgets, 350 lb, 4' tall lesbians, foreigners, and God only knows what else, at least they've kept some of those standards.
Generally speaking, blacks usually don't do well on written exams. I'm not sure why that is, but it is, and everybody knows it. In many liberal cities, the local governments get around that fact by lowering their standards until blacks can easily pass. And in some cases, they are hired and promoted over Whites who are more qualified, or who have scored higher on exams. (remember the firefighters who had to go to the SCOTUS to get their promotions after passing their exams? ) Of course, in the end, it's the public that suffers. With the incredibly high taxes we pay, we have a right to expect the best people that can be found for our emergency services. Diversity accomplishes the exact opposite...
Body Scanners? I think NOT
Like rats leaving a sinking ship.
...and the exodus begins.
.
With the 2010 election year barely under way, two senators and one governor -- all Democrats -- ditched plans to run for re-election in the latest signs of trouble for President Barack Obama's party.
Taken together, the decisions by Senators Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota as well as Colorado Governor Bill Ritter caused another bout of heartburn for Democrats as they struggle to defend themselves in a sour political environment for incumbents, particularly the party in charge.
As 2009 ended, Democrats watched a string of their House members announce retirements and one congressman defect to the GOP.
.
To paraphrase Robert Duval in 'Apocalypse Now', "I love the smell of drowning rats in the morning, it smells like...victory!"
Interesting Article about the Artic and Cold Weather
I heard about this on FOX News this A.M. Doom and Gloom from 1922? Yep.
.
The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas about Spitzbergen and the eastern Arctic, all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard-of high temperatures in that part of the earth's
surface.
.
The story is in the first column, about half way down. It includes such facts as, not enough ice, to few glaciers, too many herring, not enough white fish, dogs and cats living together, Al Gore wasn't born for another 15 1/2 years, it was shear madness I guess.
WTF ?
But if you thought His Majesty's HealthNazi's are not truly helpful, and want to stop everyone from doing the things they enjoy, you're wrong. Take the city's tens-of-thousands of heroin junkies for example. The Health Dept. just issued a "detailed" flier (see: instruction manual ) showing junkies "the proper way to shoot their drugs." No, that's not a typo. And as usual, We The Fools paid for these fliers. And also as usual, there are fuzzy-brained NYC liberals defending these fliers and saying they're a good idea! A war on drugs?
