"I'm For The People"

Needless to say, we are all familiar with Botox Pelosi, America's queen. She represents San Francisco, Mexifornia, home to most of the nations oddballs, anarchists, radical Leftists, and assorted freaks. She's also famous for telling everyone how she "cares about the people". Apparently, caring about the people doesn't mean you will actually lower yourself to live like them.

Queen Botox is, IMO, a perfect example of why our system of government is a failure. Not just this government, but the entire system, because it's all based on corruption, secrecy, and lies. In fact, it is a system that is designed to attract the corrupt. And, if you happen to be a sincere and honest person getting into politics who truly wants to help the people, that system will soon change you, or sweep you aside and render you powerless. An excellent example is NY's junior senator Gillibrand, who took Hitlary's senate seat. Although a Demoncrat, she was from upstate NY, an area with few Demoncrats, and represented the will of the voters there, such as being pro-gun and pro-Second Amendment. After getting Hitlary's seat, and spending a couple of months "under the wing" of Chuck (lens lice) Schumer, NY's radical, and insatiably ambitious, Leftist senator, almost all of her views have changed to mirror his. Apparently, she's been told she need not bother concerning herself with what her constituents want now that she's part of the "overwhelming majority". And it seems she's fallen right into line.

When i was younger, i remember asking my dearly departed Dad why he chose not to vote. He said it's because the whole system is corrupt, and i will not further the activities of criminals. I asked, "how could that be"? He would say, "give me a rational explanation why someone would spend $20, or 30, or 50, or 100 Million dollars to get a job that pays $200k a year, especially a job that may only last 4 or 6 years"? Till this day, i still can't come up with a rational explanation, except for the one in the below-linked article, which simply proves his point...

Spider, your dad sounds like a really smart man. I feel the same way. I do not vote because be they Republican or Democrat, neither one really cares about anything but power. Anybody who runs generally has access to great amounts of money. That fact alone means that they have absolutely no idea what it is like for regular people like you and I. They will say anything to get elected and then they totally forget their constituants. When was the last time any representative asked you what you wanted?

El Arachno,
you answer your own question on one hand, and question the answer on the other.

But, I'll play the game.

1st, the statement about spending millions to get thousands is bogus at best. "They" don't spend it, their supporters do. And while many of them are well to do, most don't start out that way, especially in the House. Many are lawyers, so they do have more money than the rest of us as a rule. But back to the supporters, for they are the problem.

I think that any citizen of voting age should be allowed to donate to any given legal candidate. Having said that, there should be limits. If Joe Average donates the maximum, then his union, his fraternity, his alma mater, corporations he holds stocks in, CANNOT donate then "on his behalf" too. And those affiliated organizations should be REQUIRED to get his permission to speak for him, if Joe does not decide to donate on his own. But the organizations should still be held to that original maximum amount, in speaking for Joe. Limiting everyone's voice to "X" dollar amount would take many millions OUT of campaign finance coffers.

Now, 2nd, IF Joe or Joe's affiliated orgs donate money to Candidate "X", then they should not also be allowed to donate money to the opponent. There is NO WAY that you can convince me that Joe believes that the Conservative candidate is the right choice for his district, but so is the Hyper-liberal candidate. Joe would ONLY donate that way, if he thought he would get something in return outside the bounds of his natural rights and protections under the law.

Joe and candidate "X" need jail time for that IMHO. It's wrong, wrong, wrong.

McCain - Feingold was a total abortion, Swiss Cheese has fewer holes, but reform can be done, if WE elect candidates that want to vote for us, not in spite of us. There are plenty of Scott Browns out there, we've just got to find them.

And lastly, Pelosi's spending should be reported to every person in the country. Didn't President BOHICA promise us a website or some such thing? It was all about transparency, right?

Tio,
dude I'm an old hippy, lemme remind you what the freaques used to say, "...your either part of the solution, or part of the problem", there is no other way to look at it. Voting is not just a right, it's a responsibility. If you don't vote, you've abdicated your right to stand up and bitch too, IMHO. Just one man's opinion, and don't let it run you off, we need new voices here. And if nothing else, we believe in the Bill of Rights here at Annie's.

Especially the 2nd Amendment.

I understand where you are coming from but I also have sense enough to know when I am waisting my time. Someone once told me that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome every time. That is the way I feel about voting right now. I don't vote because it won't change a thing in the long run. You can't empty the ocean with a thimble so I don't try that either.

Speaking of Nanny Pelousy, I note from another blog that she spend $101,000 on booze over the last 2 years.

Yep, all charged to us taxpayers.

Steve old buddy, i agree with what you've said, but, when people make donations to a political candidate, that money goes into that candidates campaign fund, (ie: it's his/hers) to be spent as he/she sees fit. Whatever is left over is kept by that candidate to "pay off campaign (debts)". In other words, it goes south! This is something we've seen time and time again.

At last count, the 100 members of the senate are "all" millionaires, and some are multi-millionaires. Most didn't come to govt. that way. And that's on what, $240k a year? I don't know about Mr. Brown.

A simple solution to this problem, and one that politicians have fought for a long time, (gee, i wonder why) would be to "require" TV networks to donate time for campaigning. The TV networks make Billions a year in profits, yet pay only pennies (relatively speaking) for their FCC licenses. This would obviously eliminate the need for donations. Unfortunately for the elected crooks, it would also eliminate all that left over cash.

"...your either part of the solution, or part of the problem",

There are millions of people who truly believe that it's our system of voting that makes you part of the problem, not the solution. Yet we keep voting and puting the same crooks back into power, and simply because they call themselves something different from the current crooks, we buy their bullshit. Can anyone remember the last politician who was able/willing to solve anything for the people? Many good people have entered politics with a sincere desire to accomplish good things for the people. Unfortunately, thanks to the system, they don't seem to stay that way for long.
