Poor Man's Car Bomb?

I suppose you work with what you have available, especially when you're desperate and don't care about your victims. Is PETA gonna get involved, and is there going to be an outcry like when the video surfaced of someone over there gassing a puppy?

Shipping and Efficiency, or maybe not

.
My better half, Mrs. Schteveo, bought some puppets for her Sunday School Class, via Algore's interweb. The order was processed in about 14 hours and got shipped before noon, the day after we ordered them. Sounds good to me, but here's where it gets...peculiar.

The shipment did this,

left Earth City Mo, on the 20th,

went to Atlanta,

THEN Dallas, (TX is between NC and GA?)

then it came to Raleigh, (alright, PUPPETS!!, not so quick)(it was turned over to the US Postal Service on the 28th)

they sent it to Atlanta, (again with Atlanta?)

they sent it to Charlotte (well at least that's the right state finally / again)

...it will be BACK here, delivered to us on the 4th or 5th.

So much for efficiency, huh? I think the people routing for FedEx used to work on Wall Street.
.
.
UPDATE Thursday 12:33 the puppets just arrived how's that for efficiency!! 5 days early!(?)
.
.
Schteveo wants his friggin' church puppets!!

Breaking news

Veteran GOP Sen. Specter switches parties

'Political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans,' he says

"change in party affiliation does not mean that I will be a party-line voter any more for the Democrats that I have been for the Republicans."

What a bunch of BS! Just another nail in conservatism's coffin.

Are We The New Soviet Union?

Another czar? Apparently, president Yomama is impressed with the old Soviet title, since he's handing them out like candy at a kids party. And looking at his policy decisions, even the one's done in public, it's obvious he's also impressed with that whole political ideology. ( you know, the one that always fails) One of the hallmarks of Communism is having the govt. tell the people what they can say, or not say. Kind of like where we're headed.

It seems one of Yomama's Chicago pals from his "alleged" law school days is to become the "Regulatory Czar". If that doesn't sound like one of those "limitless, you can do anything you want" titles, i don't know what does. When you read about this commie, you'll notice he has his own ideas as to what free speech really is, (or should be) and it ain't what we think it is!

Change? Things are changing alright. Unfortunately, many American voters are not smart enough to realize that change is not always for the better. But they're going to find that out. The hard way...

Bye, Bye, America

As most of us here have been aware of for a long time, Amerika is making a "very" sharp turn to the Left. Now it seems, the MSM, or at least some parts of it, are willing to go public and tell the rest of the people that we're well on our way to becoming another socialist country like France or Britain. But according to this article, most of the Amerikan people don't care. That's right, they don't seem to mind! Is it because they're weak-minded, brain-dead, gullible, Kool-Aid gulping sheep? Well, yes IMO, but i think there's another reason.

It's because the leftist MSM has done everything in it's power to keep Obomber's true political agenda and intentions as quiet as possible, (note how most of his changes are signed into law "in private" WH ceremonies) while at the same time, having no problem making public this country's most secret military information. The wars and the man-made financial mess have been kept in the peoples face, so that they can't see, hear, or think of anything else. There's no question that those are critically important matters to us all, but isn't the future of our country just as important? Is it not important that drastic, dramatic changes are being made to this country's core beliefs and some of the most fundamental principles it was built on? Does it not matter that there are socialist/Marxist policies being put into place that will take generations to change, if ever? Or, am i simply being patriotic and showing my love for a country that no longer exists.

Did the last election tell us that the Amerikan people truly want these things to happen, or were the results of that election simply what the MSM wanted? If it was really the people, then IMO, this country is finished!

Being Cool Is Going To Hurt.

Today in NYC, we're being told we'll probably hit 90 degrees. It's the first warm day we've had since last summer. It's been a nasty, cold, damp and rainy winter here, the kind of weather that goes right through your bones. And i hate being cold!! I went down to Flori-DUH a couple of weeks ago to visit friends and family and to get away from the horrible NYC weather. On two nights there, i had to actually put the heat on in my hotel room, as the temps were in the low 40's! Apparently, global warming hadn't reached FL. either.

Last Friday, i spent a few minutes watching fat Al (the phony) Gore during his highly-orchestrated performance in front of a congressional committee of other phonies. He was there to tell this group of elected lying crooks that we're all doomed unless they start passing laws, rules, and regulations to combat the imaginary global warming problem. (if it's global, why is it that only Amerika is at fault and doomed?)

Normally, this show would've been simply amusing. But when you stop to realize these laws and regulations will have a dramatic impact on all our lives, including causing the price of everything, especially taxes, to go much higher, it's no longer funny. In fact, it's down-right scary! But from what i saw and heard, and from what i later learned after reading the enclosed report, it looks like a done deal. Fat Al will most likely get his way, especially since we now live in a one-party, socialist state, where the people have no voice. And, no brains...

...and in tonight's Bull Shit for the masses story...

.
Obama quickly, confidently adapts to presidency
.
WASHINGTON — It didn't take long for Barack Obama — for all his youth and inexperience — to get acclimated to his new role as the calming leader of a country in crisis.

"I feel surprisingly comfortable in the job," the nation's 44th president said a mere two weeks after taking the helm.

"The challenges are big," a sober Obama added, underscoring the foreign and domestic problems he inherited Jan. 20. "But one thing that I'm absolutely convinced about is that you want to be president when you've got big problems. If things are going too smoothly, then this is just another nice home office."

Over nearly 100 days as president, Obama has applied the same "no drama" leadership and calculated approach to governing that he did to campaigning.

.
.
But isn't that the problem? He's still just running for the office. Who's he trying to convince that he's the President now, us, or himself? And SOBER? Why sober? Which of his predecessors wasn't sober? Or are they trying to bury the existence of those pictures of Barry with the doobage?
.
.
Schteveo says go for the doobage

Border Security?

.
Could this be WHY Janet Napolitano needs to do her damned job, and quit worrying about right-wing Christians, non-liberals and veterans?
.
.
MEXICO CITY — A new swine flu strain that has killed as many as 68 people and sickened more than 1,000 across Mexico has "pandemic potential," the World Health Organization chief said Saturday, and it may be too late to contain the sudden outbreak.

The disease has already reached Texas and California, and with 24 new suspected cases reported Saturday in Mexico City alone, schools were closed and all public events suspended in the capital until further notice - including more than 500 concerts and other gatherings in the metropolis of 20 million.
.
.
.
Is there any threat that doesn't seem possible with this crowd in charge? They are so sure that the world sees them as good guys, they turn a blind eye to EVERY obvious danger. The question becomes, is it better to die from Mexican swine flu, or N Korean nukes, or Islamofascist terrorists? Personally, I'll not make the choice, not without a hell of a fight!!
.
.
Schteveo is worried
.
P.S.
I just realized, again, that I'm Napolitano's worst nightmare, I AM a non-liberal, Christian, veteran. I hope I'm keeping her awake at night.

I don't know what to say.

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/index.php?cl=13140642

He Who Hesitates Is Lost. Or Dead.

Amerika's foreign policy is usually based on waiting. We'll wait. We'll see. We'll talk. We'll have some meetings, some committees, some panels, some sub-committees, then we'll write a report. Of course, when the report is done, we'll create some more committees to study the report. Then, we'll convene a commission to discuss what the committees have said about the panels report.

To some, especially those on the left, this is a good way to deal with the rest of the world, especially our many enemies. To our enemies, it's simply another sign of American weakness and indecision, because while we're talking, and meeting, and discussing, and reading reports, they're building and getting stronger. It's this type of policy that turns minor situations into major problems!

You Can't Fool All The People, All The Time

No you can't, but apparently you can fool enough of them to destroy a country. This story, from the decidedly liberal NY Daily News, claims a majority of your fellow citizens are just in love with president Yomama. They love what he's doing, (huh?) they love his smile, they love his feelings, they love his plans for their future. From what i can gather, most of this love is based on their Kool-Aid induced feelings rather than on factual information. If you rely on fact, (a rarity these days) you have noticed that this half-breed has done more damage to this country than any president since the anti-American Jimmy (peanut-brain) Carter, and in under 100 days. Can you just imagine what things will be like in a few years!

If you assume these are factual poll numbers, (and i don't) it not only shows me how dumb and weak-minded most Americans are, but also how very, very effective the MSM is, for it was the MSM that won the election, not Obomber. For the two years leading up to the election, the people were distracted and anesthetized by the leftist media. The fact that most Americans are usually asleep (unless they're watching "reality" TV ) anyway only served to help the liars and con-artists of the MSM.

For the rest of us, all we can do now is watch the left-wing tidal-wave roll over us. Gay marriage, gun control, mind-boggling tax increases, TRILLIONS of our dollars being given away, rampant corruption in congress, and on and on. For all intents and purposes, we are now a one party, socialist nation, with not a president and a congress, but rulers. Rulers who apparently answer to no one...

One Man's Opinion

.
Just a short diatribe.
.
If President BOHICA, at the beck and call of MoveOn.org, wants to prosecute members of the Bush Administration and their lawyers and advisers, doesn't that open a HUGE door? If every new administration, prosecutes the previous administration, isn't that the end of anyone deciding to advise the White House?
.
Suppose the Republicans re-take both Houses of Congress in 2010? Given the current thought policy of wanting to prosecute for prior policies, shouldn't Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and their minions be worried?

Two words for you...VINCE...FOSTER

.
UPDATE:Thursday A.M.
.
The news this morning is that Kellerman hanged himself in his basement. But why?
.
This is the guy who was picked to straighten out the mess at Freddie Mac. He was NOT under scrutiny, suspicion or fear of ANY prosecution. That's WHY he was picked for the CFO job, he was a straight shooter and smart money guy.
.
So the question begs, why kill yourself?
.
To escape the ignominious career ending catastrophe of being the guy who set Freddie Mac straight? To hide from spending the rest of your life on the $10K per nught lecture circuit? To avoid the book deals and money to be made?
.
There is much here we will never know.
.
.

My prayers for his family, my disdain for the "usual suspects".
.
Freddie Mac CFO Found Dead of Apparent Suicide.
.
The acting chief financial officer of Freddie Mac was found dead in his home Wednesday morning of an apparent suicide, Fairfax, Va., police have confirmed to FOX News.

Kellermann, a 16-year veteran of the mortgage loan guarantor, was discovered by his wife, who found him in the basement. The two have a young daughter.

Fairfax police spokeswoman Mary Anne Jennings said police were called to the Northern Virginia home outside Washington, D.C., in the early morning hours. A call came in at 4:48 a.m. ET.

Kellermann, 41, was named acting chief financial officer in September 2008 and was a member of the company's leadership team reporting directly to CEO David M. Moffett, who resigned last month.

Freddie Mac Interim CEO John Koskinen issued a statement Wednesday that the "Freddie Mac family is truly saddened" by the news.

"David was a man of great talents. ... His extraordinary work ethic and integrity inspired all who worked with him. But he will be most remembered for his affability, his personal warmth, his sense of humor and his quick wit. David was a friend to many in the Freddie Mac family, and we mourn his passing," Koskinen said.

.
.
I'm guessing this next line was written for liberals who think money really does grow on trees.
.
.
According to his biographical information, as acting chief financial officer, Kellermann "is responsible for the company's financial controls, financial reporting, tax, capital oversight and compliance...
.
Of course THOSE were his jobs, he was CFO, the "F" stands for FINANCIAL. Again, I'm assuming that was added for liberals.

No wonder people complain about the weather forecasts

.
It's normal to complain about the weather, but doubly so, I expect, if you don't understand it to begin with.
.
.
Rainy Weather Forecasts Misunderstood by Many
.
To bring an umbrella or not to bring an umbrella? That’s the perennial question on those days where the chance of rain is less than 100 percent.

But only half the population understands what a precipitation forecast means well enough to make a fully informed answer, a new study finds.

If, for example, a forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of rain, many people think it means that it will rain over 20 percent of the area covered by the forecast. Others think it will rain for 20 percent of the time, said Susan Joslyn, a cognitive psychologist at the University of Washington who conducted the study.

.
.
The older I get, the more surprised I am, by the lack of education and lack of basic understanding that adults have. Actually I'm not just surprised, I'm appalled.
.
This kinda thing is WHY I'm about to embark on home schooling my 11 y/o grandson. It's scary, but scarier still is letting him continue where he is. He was categorized as a "Title 1" kid this year, which got the school more money, but got him less help somehow. Odd that.
.
He doesn't get math, so their answer was to get him a calculator.(?)
.
These are the same educators who said he might never be able to read. Now, after home grown pressure from me and his father, he reads voraciously, loves it, reads instead of watching the tube. I think he's trainable, the school just wanted the money though. But when we're done, he'll know whether he needs a jacket, a bumbershoot or a pistol.
.
.
Professor Schteveo

Square Pants...Square Butts...Square Heads

.
Have you seen the SpongeBob / Burger King commercials? Girls with square butts dancing to the old school Sir Mix-a-lot song "I like Big Butt's". As with 99.999999999% of rap music and TV commercials in general, it's annoying as hell. But that's the point, to have the bit burrow into our subconscious and drive us to want BK food.
.
But there are people out there who think BK and Nickelodeon, SpongeBobs home, have ruined the franchise for children. And ruined in the Victorian sense, the term the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood is using is "deflowered". (and just how prudish are they to use these 19th Century terms?)
.
I'm assuming they've not seen SpongeBob cartoons or the SpongeBob movie, both of which have some pretty racy, double entendre comments. The movie especially goes toward the Muppet's style adult jokes. I guess the CCFC hasn't realized that SpongeBob winds up in his Marky Mark jockey shorts in almost every episode. And I guess the Jockey Shorts people didn't pony up enough money for those commercial rights.
.
But what is really foolish is the concept these do gooders have of our society. Once again, some outside agitation society has decided to save us from ourselves. Our society is DOOMED without them telling us what is right, what is outrageous and working at halting all advertising aimed at children.
.
I don't need to the CCFC, my TV came with a remote control that changes the channel, and also controls the ON / OFF function. If square butts offend you, turn it OFF!!
.
That's what I'm doing to the CCFC. It's fair play, they turn me off too.

Obama to cabinet members: Cut your budgets!

Maobama is asking federal department and agency chiefs to find $100,000,000 to cut from the $3,550,000,000 budget when he held his first formal Cabinet meeting. Ooooh, what a tough cookie -- first, he proposes the trillions in spending -- then says 'hey, you better find some cuts!' And he means a lot of cuts, too --- a healthy 0.0029% worth! That's real noble of him, especially since we have to pay $1.2 BILLION dollars a DAY just in INTEREST!

I Don't Understand the Shock

Here we have a perfect example of now the media (even faux news) twists stories to suit a personal slant..

Article

Notice how Miss California is blamed for bringing politics into the pageant when it was a flaming no-talent judge who actually posed the question to her. She gave an answer that was in line with the vast majority of Americans (that she thinks marriage should be between a man and a woman) and now suddenly every is shocked. So here we have a person being asked a question (definitely a set-up that went wrong) of which she took the main stream view and she is being reported as saying something shocking.

Oh, and if someone can explain to me the idiotic statement put out by the co-chairs .. ""As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.""

Now You See Her. Now You Don't.

So it's all about change? Seeing a total and complete lack of integrity and honesty in our elected officials isn't much of a change at all, especially with an elected phony like this. If the term whore ever applied to a politician, it applies to this one, and i don't mean that in a sexual way. Here we have the newly-minted US Senator from NY, Kirsten Gillibrand, who was chosen to replace Hitlary. She's a Demoncrat, but was elected to represent the voters of upstate NY, who are mostly Republican, because of her center-right beliefs. Well, that was then.

Now, after a few months in DC, and after being exposed to the likes of Chuck (lens lice) Schumer, and his fellow senate commies, senator Gillibrand seems to have made some changes in her core beliefs. Like all of them! In these few short months, she's gone from center-right, to far-left. She is now "one of them". I wonder how all those decent folks in upstate NY are feeling now about their favorite politician...

Mixed Emotions

.
As I was reading this article, Wealth-Less Effect: Earning Well, Feeling Otherwise, I hade very mixed emotions.
.
First let me say I don't think $250K makes you "rich". Second I don't begrudge anyone their rights to earn. Third, taxing the "rich" at a different rate is usary and it's social engineering driven, IMnotsoHO.
.
But as someone from a background where the most my parents ever made was about $80K, and with my highest household income having been in the low $100Ks, families making $250K should STILL live inside their means.
.
from the article,

Ellen Parnell and her husband, Donald Parnell Jr., seem like the kind of well-off couple President Barack Obama has in mind when he suggests raising taxes on families earning more than $250,000 a year. A surgeon at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center in Sevierville, Tenn., he drives an Infiniti. They vacation at a beach resort every year.

Yet, right now he is working seven days a week. The car is more than a decade old, the vacation home in Sandestin, Fla., comes at a moderate weekly rate because members of Ms. Parnell's extended family own it. Her family of five would like more room than they have in their 2,500-square-foot home, yet they can't afford anything larger. The downturn has them skittish about paying for renovations.

"I'm not complaining, but the reality is Obama may call me wealthy, but I thought we were just good old middle class," says Ms. Parnell. "Our needs are being met, but we don't have a load of cash to cover wants."

.
Well, they are middle-class, but VERY high end middle-class. A family of five, in 2500 sqft, he's a surgeon, she works too. And? Things are tough because they're car is 10 years old? They only get to go to the beach, for vacation, because it's a family owned house? AND?
.
Because of the down turn in construction, my younger son lost his $50K blasting job in Hotlanta. He and his stay at home wife, and those wonderful grandchildren, moved in with us. They're savings were exhausted. My vehicle is 19 years old, my sons family's cars are 11 and 14 years old. We've had NO vacations in several years, no beach house is available, there's no money for vacating, and for 9 months, 6 of us, 4 adults, and two kids lived in a 1018 sqft, two bedroom, two bath apartment, on WAY less than $60K. And I still managed to put some money in savings every month.
.
I think Ms Parnell needs to look around.
.
.
For the Parnells, their perception of themselves is based on the math. The value of their house is down $60,000. Ms. Parnell says the couple's gross income last year was about $260,000. Taxes, premiums for medical care and deductions for Social Security and their 401(k) contributions cut the gross to about $12,000 per month. The family tithes $1,300 a month at their church. Their mortgage, second mortgage and payment on land they bought is nearly $4,000 a month. Other expenses, including their family car payment, insurance and college funds, as well as basics like food, utilities and donations to charities, leave them with about $1,200 left over each month.
.
Ms. Parnell says. "I can pay my mortgage and I can buy some clothes. I'm not going without, but I'm not living a life of luxury."

.
.
I think, in this economy, having both jobs, having the ability to make your mortgage payments, keep making your tithe, make the land payment, make those college fund payments, go on vacation and JUST worry about the economy, IS IN FACT LUXURY.
.
This IS the problem in America, too many people NOT realizing just, how, fucking, good, they, have it!!

The lowest common denominator

~
Reverse Discrimination Case Could Transform Hiring Procedures Nationwide

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Inside a burning building, fire doesn't discriminate between Matthew Marcarelli and Gary Tinney. Inside the New Haven Fire Department, however, skin color has put them on opposite sides of a lawsuit that could transform hiring procedures nationwide.

This week, the Supreme Court will consider the reverse discrimination claim of Marcarelli and a group of white firefighters. They all passed a promotion exam, but the city threw out the test because no blacks would have been promoted, saying the exam had a "disparate impact" on minorities likely to violate the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Besides affecting how race can be considered in filling government and perhaps even private jobs, the dispute also addresses broader questions about racial progress: Do minorities and women still need legal protection from discrimination, or do the monumental civil rights laws that created a more equal nation now cause more harm than good?
~
The promotion exams were closely focused on firefighting methods, knowledge and skills. The first part had 200 multiple-choice questions and counted for 60 percent of the final score. Candidates returned another day to take an oral exam in which they described responses to various scenarios, which counted for 40 percent.
~
But after the results came back, the city says it found evidence that the tests were potentially flawed. Sources of bias included that the written section measured memorization rather than actual skills needed for the jobs; giving too much weight to the written section; and lack of testing for leadership in emergency conditions, according to a brief filed by officers of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

"I'm sure there are numerous reasons why (blacks didn't do as well), and not because we're not as intelligent," Tinney says. "There's a lot of underlying issues to that ... these folks are saying, 'We studied the hardest, we passed the test, we should be promoted.' But they're not talking about all the other things."
~
Uh... "Other things"? Like taking into account race above all else?

The solution is obvious: Allow blacks to use a teleprompter in their exams. A teleprompter is the new Great Equalizer. Everyone here who believes Obama would have won the election without his teleprompter (having to memorize those pesky important answers is racist), raise your hands.

Of course, if Obama would release his college transcripts - it could shed new light on my opinion - maybe even change it. But since he is apparently ashamed of his academic records (and speaks so poorly without his crutch) I can only assume he is only semi-literate.

It’s all a matter of liberals having an inexplicable need to reduce all things to the lowest common denominator; from personal wealth, to living conditions, to personal freedoms, to speech, to intelligence. (Professional sports is obviously excluded from the liberals' perspective - the reason for this is hidden in their little inadequate brains.)

A Prescription for American Health Care

This is a great article on the subject from Hillsdale College's Imprimis. I suggest everyone take the time to read it and then post your thoughts on the subject. Since Maobama says he will announce the elimination of dozens of government programs that don't work, maybe Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid would be a good place to start cutting back.

Please do not feed the trolls

I know some regulars here are beyond tired of HLF, and others respond to him (much to the chagrin of the first group).

I thought I would share the below definition and advice. Yes, I know, random web pages aren't the most scientific resource, but I don't know of this information being published in any other place. If you don't like this link, simply do a search on "Internet Troll", and you'll get plenty to choose from.

http://www.flayme.com/troll/

The object of this page is to bring together a definitive document to cover the utter sadness of the Internet troll. Usually, a troll is nothing more than a passing nuisance, but, as this page will show, they can be a worry (stalkers). However, it is almost invariably an inadequate individual who can be safely ignored.

This page will define the activity, and help with early recognition; once acknowledged, trolls can take up residence, and, like athlete's foot, can be difficult to shift.

So there you go boys and girls. We didn't ignore the troll, and now it's ours.

Cable Anchors, Guests Use Tea Parties as Platform for Frat House Humor

How, pray tell, does CNN's Anderson Cooper know what "teabagging" is? He and HLF must be practicing.

True Colors, yet again...

As a right wing, gun toting, veteran, nut job, I've decided to follow Ms Napolitano's lead and I'm headed out to shoot up a mall or an abortion clinic, to protest her opinion that, as a right wing, gun toting, veteran, nut job, I MIGHT shoot up a mall or an abortion clinic.

.
Napolitano stands by controversial report
.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans among terrorist risks to the U.S.

But the top House Democrat with oversight of the Department of Homeland Security said in a letter to Ms. Napolitano that he was "dumbfounded" that such a report would be issued.

"This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans - including war veterans," said Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, in his letter sent Tuesday night.

The letter was representative of a public furor over the nine-page document since its existence was reported in The Washington Times on Tuesday.

In her statement Wednesday, Ms. Napolitano defended the report, which says "rightwing extremism" may include groups opposed to abortion and immigration, as merely one among several threat assessments. But she agreed to meet with the head of the American Legion, who had expressed anger over the report, when she returns to Washington next week from a tour of the U.S.-Mexico border.

A case for the Tax Day Tea Party: The 2009 "Pig Book"

“Everyone in Washington has promised a new era of transparency and restraint in earmarks, from President Obama to the leaders of both parties in Congress,” said CAGW President Tom Schatz. “Sadly, the hard numbers from the 2009 appropriations bills tell a different story. The current Democratic congressional majority is following the same trajectory as their Republican predecessors. They came into power promising to cut earmarks, and made a big show of it during their first two years. However, as the 2009 Pig Book amply illustrates, pork-barrel spending is growing fast.”

Protest government spending tomorrow at your local Tax Day Tea Party !

3 judge panel declares Franken winner
.
A Minnesota court ruled Monday night that Democrat Al Franken has defeated Republican Norm Coleman and should be granted the election certificate that will allow him to take his seat in the U.S. Senate.

The Coleman camp immediately vowed to appeal.

"More than 4,400 Minnesotans remain wrongly disenfranchised by this court's order," Coleman attorney Ben Ginsberg said in a statement. "By its own terms, the court has included votes it has found to be 'illegal' in the contest to remain included in the final counts from Election Day, and equal protection and due process concerns have been ignored. For these reasons, we must appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court so that no voter is left behind."

The three-judge panel rejected Coleman's equal-protection arguments, saying that "errors or irregularities identified by contestants in the general election do not violate the mandates of equal protection."

What a mess.

Who needs Marines!!!

.
SEALS. Plain and simple, SEALS. Kickin' Somali ass, and takin' pirate names.
.
U.S. Navy snipers opened fire and killed three pirates holding an American captain at gunpoint, delivering the skipper unharmed and ending a five-day high-seas hostage drama on Easter Sunday.
.
The pirates were pointing AK-47s at Capt. Richard Phillips and he was in "imminent danger" of being killed when the commander of the nearby USS Bainbridge made the split-second decision to order his men to shoot, Vice Adm. Bill Gortney said.
.
Phillips' crew, who said they had escaped the pirates after he offered himself as a hostage, erupted in cheers aboard their ship docked in Mombasa, Kenya. Some waved an American flag and fired flares in celebration. A lawn sign in the captain's hometown of Underhill, Vermont that read "Pray for Captain Phillips' release and safe return home" was changed to read, "Capt. Phillips rescued and safe."
.
The U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet said Phillips, 53, was resting comfortably after a medical exam on the San Diego-based USS Boxer in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Somalia. Gortney said the captain had been "tied up inside the lifeboat" over much of the ordeal.

A sad story gets worse

From the Honolulu Advertiser we read the continuation of a very sad event:

Masumi Watanabe's parents sue her Hawaii murderer, company

The parents of murder victim Masumi Watanabe yesterday sued her convicted killer, Kirk Lankford, and his former employer, Hauoli Termite and Pest Control.

The suit was filed almost two years after Watanabe, 21, disappeared while walking along Pupukea Road and almost one year after Lankford, 24, was convicted of murdering her.

At his trial, Lankford said he accidentally struck Watanabe with his Hauoli truck, injuring her slightly, and was trying to drive her the home where she was staying when she jumped out of the vehicle, struck her head on a rock and died.

He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. The Hawai'i Paroling Authority is considering what his minimum term behind bars should be before he can be considered for parole.

The lawsuit was filed by Hideichi and Fumiko Watanabe, the woman's parents, who had sent her from Japan to stay with friends in Hawai'i to help her become more self-confident and outgoing.
~
At trial, Lankford denied attempting to kill Watanabe, but said he was afraid he would lose his job if he reported the incident. So he said he stored Watanabe's body in the back of his work truck for the entire day of April 12, 2007, then transferred her remains that evening to his personal pickup truck.

He claimed he tried to bury her on the North Shore of O'ahu but was disturbed while digging the grave. He said he then wrapped the corpse in a plastic garbage bag and carried it several hundred yards offshore of Kualoa Ranch by walking on the reef. Lankford testified he released the body and walked back to his truck, then went home to his wife and child.

Watanabe's body was never found.

The lawsuit claimed Hauoli officials were negligent in their supervision of Lankford, citing trial testimony that he had previously been involved in two earlier accidents that damaged his truck.

~
I passed this story along to you good folks months ago, and cited it as ‘disturbing’ for a number of reasons. The deceased was admittedly paranoid, so the accuser’s story of her ‘jumping out of his truck’ sounds reasonable.

The entire episode is tragic – both for the family of the deceased and the family of the accused. But I feel the deceased’s parents filing a law suite against the employer is over-the-top.

I ask you - just how much responsibility must an employer accept for their employees?

Sounds like a job for ex-Blackwater guys

.
More ships are being taken by Somali pirates every month. There is currently an American Merchant Captain being held by pirates. The U.S. Navy is nearby and an FBI negotiator is talking to the pirates.
.
I have long questioned why the shippers don't arm the ships or hire security details.
.
Well, they must have heard me.
.
Owners debate arming ships against Somali pirates
.
But, they go to the far left in their thinking right out of the gate.
.
But owners of ships plying the pirate-infested waters off Somalia's coast have balked at having firearms onboard, despite an increasing number of attacks where bullets pierced hulls or rocket propelled grenades whooshed overhead.

The reason is twofold: Owners fear pirates would be more likely to continue shooting once on board if they confronted weapons, and the company might be held liable for deaths or injuries inflicted by someone on the vessel.

"There's basically resistance to the idea of armed guards because of the risk of escalation ... possible harm to the crew," said Neil Roberts, a senior technical executive at Lloyd's Market Association, which provides support to underwriters with Lloyd's, the largest maritime insurance marketplace in the world. "Most ship owners don't encourage it."

.
I guess I was just pissing in the ocean when I got my CCW, or when I keep guns in the house, because the bad guys might get mad and hurt me if I defend myself, while they are trying to rob me and hurt me. Huh?
.
It seems to me to be a circular argument.
.
Until, of course, you kill the pirates first. Pirates are harmless, if they're dead WAY before they take you hostage. Dead pirates can't hurt you at all. When they attempt to board you, kill them.
.

We don't need no education....

Judge: Education not a right

South Dakota students aren't guaranteed a quality education, a circuit judge ruled Wednesday, finding that the way the state pays for education does not violate the state constitution.

The state's funding system has room for improvement, Wilbur acknowledged, but she also found that education is not a fundamental right; the state need not prepare students for college or "meaningful employment"; and the testimony of the superintendents was unreliable.

"I intend to do everything that I can… to make sure that normalization with our relationship with Cuba is given proper consideration both within the House of Representatives and the neighborhoods of America."

Bridge to somewhere. It's Microsoft.

When President Obama decided to do yet another stimulus package, most of America thought that the money would go to people who need it. So, it's very difficult to believe (and to stomach) that millions of stimulus dollars are being used for building a bridge that will join two Microsoft buildings that have a highway separating them. Really? Bill Gates needs stimulus cash? Apparently Apple is winning the 'Mac vs. PC' ad campaign.

Letter from the Whitehouse

I finally got an answer to my email to BOHICA.
It has been so long ago I can't remember what I wrote.
Looks like a generic letter anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views.

Americans across the country are eager for
information about the state of the economy, national
security, and a host of other issues. President Obama is
committed to making his Administration the most open and
transparent in history (Bull Sh*t), and the Internet
will play a major role in delivering on that promise.

We hope that you will join us at
www.WhiteHouse.gov to learn more about President
Obama's views on a range of topics, as well as his
efforts to provide a window for all Americans into their
government (Bull Sh*t). Your voice is shaping our
country's future, and we encourage you to join us online,
share your thoughts, and build a community of connected
citizens that will help address the pressing issues of
our time.

Sincerely,

F. Michael Kelleher
Special Assistant to the President and
Director of Presidential Correspondence

Guns and legal non-residents, and nut jobs

.
I'm sure by now all of us have heard of the rash of murder sprees in the country. And just as likely, you've heard the anti-gun rhetoric.
.
Try as I might, I can't find ANY evidence that some of these people had a right to own a gun. In fact, it looks like most fell outside the rules. But, my Algore supplied interweb connection does reveal the following.
.
The guy in Binghampton NY, did NOT have gun rights because he was not a citizen.
.
The guy in Washington, was a convicted wife beater, and he was supposed to turn in his guns.
.
(right or not, that's the law)
.
The shooter in Oakland who killed policemen and raped a teenage girl, was a repeat felon and wasn't supposed to have guns.
.
The shooter in Pittsburgh was thrown out of the Marines, and probably shouldn't have been allowed guns given his now known background of emotional outbursts.
.
That's all I could find. But I don't have the resources of the MSM. You know the ones, the bastards who can find and release Pentagon secrets, Sarah Palin's bra size and GWB's not so true military records. But oddly, they've not been able to report the simple, but seemingly true, fact that most of these shooters shouldn't have guns at all, or didn't have the mental capacities to own guns. But these same clowns are saying, hourly, that we, the legal and well adjusted, should give up our guns. These things run in cycles, and they follow the economy.
.
But once again, the MSM fails to point that out, they point out how 5 or 6 people, with a few guns, have killed cops and a bunch of honest citizens. I guess they can't find information about how many of our guns, and how many gun owners DON'T kill anyone daily.
.
Sometimes I even get the impression that they have an agenda about gun ownership.
.
What say you my friends?

Palmer man blames aliens for 2007 attacks
ROGERS: Jurors hear taped confession of deadly events in Palmer and Anchorage.

The jury in the Christopher Erin Rogers murder trial sat through nearly two hours of his video-taped confession Thursday.

They watched as Rogers, slumped in a chair in a barren police interview room back in 2007, detailed just how dangerous this city was for two days as he cased neighborhoods, hopped over fences and hid in dark corners of people's yards, looking for the opportunity to kill.
~~~
Now the jury knows quite a lot about what happened on Gunnysack Road in Palmer the morning Rogers walked into his father's bedroom with a machete and started swinging. By the time he was done, his father was dead, his father's fiancée was gravely wounded and the family dog that tried to intervene was cut up and out whimpering in the yard.
~~~
But none of that had anything to do with why he did what he did, he assured investigators. Even killing his father. "It wasn't anything personal," he said.

It was the aliens.

"They wanted me to kill a bunch of people. It was very strange but I tried my best to accommodate them...

"I heard these voices telling me I had to go do it. I had this obligation, so to speak."

"They were getting me all mixed up. I didn't know what was black, white, up, down, inside out. I didn't know. I mean, I'd still wake up in the morning like anybody else, drink a cup coffee, smoke a cigarette. I'd say, 'What the hell?' This, that, this, that. And then this alien thing comes in, 'Hey, you gotta do your job. You gotta do it.' "

"I'm some kind of subspecies," he said. "I had to prove myself to them. ... And they hate humans. They use them for food. I don't understand at all."

Was he sorry he killed his father?

"No, I'm not sorry," he said. "I wish I'd used a different tool. I really do."

It wouldn't have been so messy, and it wouldn't have been such hard work. Even the aliens were displeased about that, he said.

Read all the details here.

And Single Source Health Care will help this how?

.
9 patients made nearly 2,700 ER visits in Texas
.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Just nine people accounted for nearly 2,700 of the emergency room visits in the Austin area during the past six years at a cost of $3 million to taxpayers and others, according to a report. The patients went to hospital emergency rooms 2,678 times from 2003 through 2008, said the report from the nonprofit Integrated Care Collaboration, a group of health care providers who care for low-income and uninsured patients.

"What we're really trying to do is find out who's using our emergency rooms ... and find solutions," said Ann Kitchen, executive director of the group, which presented the report last week to the Travis County Healthcare District board.

The average emergency room visit costs $1,000. Hospitals and taxpayers paid the bill through government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, Kitchen said.

Eight of the nine patients have drug abuse problems, seven were diagnosed with mental health issues and three were homeless. Five are women whose average age is 40, and four are men whose average age is 50, the report said, the Austin American-Statesman reported Wednesday.

.
I have no pithy remarks. But putting us all into this system will solve the problem in what way, to what level and on what planet?

Third Class Citizens

I know we've talked about this before, but as of today, the assumptions held by many have become reality. I'm talking about the outright abuse of supposedly free people who choose to use tobacco, a totally legal product. And as i've said before, IMO, this is not about whether you smoke or don't, in spite of the massive effort by the Left to create class warfare. This is about whether "free people" have the right to choose to use a legal product, even though others don't like it. Are we to live our lives according to the dictates of the Left? And if so, what will they not like next?

As a smoker, i have always been mindful of the feelings of others who do not smoke, even before it became fashionable or "the law". To me, it's just good manners. I don't smoke where i know it will bother someone else. But apparently, that's no longer enough. Now, i'm being hounded and punished and made to feel inferior, even though i don't. Here in NYC, smokers are treated worse, and looked down upon more than child molesters. BTW, as of yesterday, the price of a pack of cigarettes here is now $11.75. (that includes city, state, federal tax, + wholesalers and retailers increases) Can you think of another group of law-abiding citizens who are treated this way?

My question to our rulers is simple. If tobacco, the plant that's been used by man for thousands of years, is a scourge to mankind, as they claim, then why not simply outlaw it? Make the growing, possession, and sale of tobacco illegal, as they've done with so many other things. And since there are so few smokers left, it can't be because they fear the loss of tax revenue. All it would take is the stroke of a pen, and it's done! I'm sure the tobacco-Nazi's and the rest of the Left would wet themselves in joyous celebration. So why not do it?

Could it be something else? Could it be that the tobaccoNazi's know that if they did go for a "legal" all-out ban, they just might have to stand in an open court and prove all their wild claims about tobacco use? Would for example, "His Majesty", NYC's limp-wristed mayor Bloomberg, be able to actually prove his publicly-made claim that, "400,000 children die every year in NYC from 2nd-hand smoke"? Or perhaps, do they fear the bright lights of a public court room would make their claims seem like those made by the hysteria-inducing, fact-less, EnviroNazi's and their global warming scam?

I assume that most of our friends here are non-smokers, and may either not care about this assault on freedom, or even agree with it. My question to you is this. What happens when the lets-ban-something Nazi's get around to some legal thing you like doing?
