I Don't Understand the Shock

Here we have a perfect example of now the media (even faux news) twists stories to suit a personal slant..

Article

Notice how Miss California is blamed for bringing politics into the pageant when it was a flaming no-talent judge who actually posed the question to her. She gave an answer that was in line with the vast majority of Americans (that she thinks marriage should be between a man and a woman) and now suddenly every is shocked. So here we have a person being asked a question (definitely a set-up that went wrong) of which she took the main stream view and she is being reported as saying something shocking.

Oh, and if someone can explain to me the idiotic statement put out by the co-chairs .. ""As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.""

"...and religious beliefs have no politics(?) in the Miss California family."Hm. But evidently it's OK to have beliefs on poverty, and "climate change", and world peace, and saving the whales (from "climate change"), and...

I'd like to ask Perez Hilton about his views of guns, taxes and hetero sex in public.

After his nervous breakdown, I'd like to kick him in the nads.

One more thing .. Miss California represents the state of California where she gave the opinion that a majority of Californians voted for just a few months ago.

Being Miss Mexifornia, she was apparently supposed to champion the radical left-wing, pro-fag, pro-commie, party line. I guess she'll be going back to DQ after this. And if she's a "real" blond, Brother Poots can have her!

Free Speech? We don't need no stinking free speech.

What else should one expect from "an openly gay gossip blogger"?

And can you say....

Boob job?

She should have said that she supports gay marriage, plural marriage and incest (as long as all parties are over 18). Then she would have won!

Why are queers getting involved a a heterosexual institution? I don't see real men and women trying to dictate who the queen of the packer parade will be

I love how liberals always get "shocked" whenever someone disagrees with their views, as if they had no concept whatsoever that there were equally valid, opposable views to these issues that they hold opinions on. It is really proof of how incapable they are of seeing that there are opinions other than theirs just within their little stronghold state, much less within the nation, and the world at large.

Hey! You! Yeah, you! The Crybaby in the corner! You know, eventually, even in southern california, you're going to meet someone that doesn't agree with you on everything that you agree with. When that happens, you either get to pose an intelligent counter-opinion, or accept that that person has differing opinons than you do, and leave it at that. If you cannot deal with that, then you have no place living in a free society. May i suggest Cuba or Venezuela?

Disagreement should not equal outrage.

It bothers me to no end how many times I hear leftist pundits start their rebuttals with the words "You have no right to say that..."

Yeah, I do. And so does she. If what she said offends your ladyboy sensibilities, then tough shit. Gloria Allred, she doesn't need "re-education". You do. The Constitutional right that you are espousing for men to marry men falls vaguely under the 9th amendment, which basically says that there are more rights than those specifically allocated in the Bill of Rights. However, her right to say that she doesn't agree with same sex marriage is important enough that it is one of the ten specifically enumerated. The first one, in fact.

Not only that, but her saying that is not hateful or bigoted. She didn't say that she "hated fags." She just said that her opinion was that marriage was a man and woman. That isn't hateful or bigoted. That is a very valid opinion. So stop being shocked and tell us why she is wrong. Stop being upset that she said something, and tell her why she is misinformed. If you cannot do that, you lose. Case closed.

(As an aside, you might all remember that I actually agree with Gloria Allred on this specific issue, in that I do believe that under the rules and laws OF STATE (not religious, but state), there should be no prohibition on same sex marriage, as I see it as one of those "rights" enumerated under the 9th amendment, which is basically the "if it doesn't hurt anyone else, and everyone involved consents, then your business is your business" amendment.

And yes, that means I would have to be okay with bigamy and polygamy. Who am I to tell consenting, informed adults what they may or may not do?

And no, that does not mean that I am for bestiality or child molestation. The acid test specifically includes "thou shalt not infringe ont he rights of others, and all parties shall be consenting" which means children and animals are out, since neither can consent. I think that pretty much takes care of the straw man arguments that are bound to come my way, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the flaming...

Oh yes, the religious aspect of it. I forgot to mention that.

Why has christianity become persona non grata in every place it shows it's face publicly? Why does religion have no place in the Miss California contest?

Why can't a religious contestant talk about her religion and religious beliefs if it is in context to and pertains to the question that was asked?

Oh, and this is not an "equal rights" issue. Homosexuals have exactly the same rights that we do. We all, every single one of us, have the right to marry the person of our choosing of the opposite sex and none of us have a right to marry a same sex partner. There is no discrimination going on when the law applies to all.

That being said, I still think that two consenting adults should be able to marry each other if they damn well please, at least in the eyes of the state.

The eyes of God are another matter entirely, and subject to an entirely different debate, but I think Jesus pretty much cleared that argument up witht he whole "render unto caesar" thing.

Goob, i wonder if your feelings will be the same when your kids (assuming you have kids) bring their "partner" home to meet mom and dad.

Spidey;

I'll be disappointed as hell, but I'll get over it and learn to accept it if I love my child. The alternative is to disown them, and family is too important for me to give up on someone that I made and raised simply because they have made a choice that I don't agree with. (Made easier by the fact that I don't really believe it is a choice at all. I didn't CHOOSE to be hetero sexual, and I could no more CHOOSE to be gay than i could CHOOSE what sex I was born.)

I'm not saying that it won't be a difficult thing to bear, but what I am saying is that I would like to think that I would get over it and move on for the sake of everyone involved. But you're right, I still hope like hell that never happens.

If that makes me a bigot, then I'm a bigot. I speak only truth.

be careful Goober because you can make the same argument about a pedophile not choosing to be a pedophile as evidenced by their inability to change.

Excuse me for asking a dumb question, one that the MSM is clearly avoiding, but just how did a gay activist blogger, with his/her/it's loaded, rehearsed, ambush-style question, get to be a Miss Amerika judge?
