Third Class Citizens

I know we've talked about this before, but as of today, the assumptions held by many have become reality. I'm talking about the outright abuse of supposedly free people who choose to use tobacco, a totally legal product. And as i've said before, IMO, this is not about whether you smoke or don't, in spite of the massive effort by the Left to create class warfare. This is about whether "free people" have the right to choose to use a legal product, even though others don't like it. Are we to live our lives according to the dictates of the Left? And if so, what will they not like next?

As a smoker, i have always been mindful of the feelings of others who do not smoke, even before it became fashionable or "the law". To me, it's just good manners. I don't smoke where i know it will bother someone else. But apparently, that's no longer enough. Now, i'm being hounded and punished and made to feel inferior, even though i don't. Here in NYC, smokers are treated worse, and looked down upon more than child molesters. BTW, as of yesterday, the price of a pack of cigarettes here is now $11.75. (that includes city, state, federal tax, + wholesalers and retailers increases) Can you think of another group of law-abiding citizens who are treated this way?

My question to our rulers is simple. If tobacco, the plant that's been used by man for thousands of years, is a scourge to mankind, as they claim, then why not simply outlaw it? Make the growing, possession, and sale of tobacco illegal, as they've done with so many other things. And since there are so few smokers left, it can't be because they fear the loss of tax revenue. All it would take is the stroke of a pen, and it's done! I'm sure the tobacco-Nazi's and the rest of the Left would wet themselves in joyous celebration. So why not do it?

Could it be something else? Could it be that the tobaccoNazi's know that if they did go for a "legal" all-out ban, they just might have to stand in an open court and prove all their wild claims about tobacco use? Would for example, "His Majesty", NYC's limp-wristed mayor Bloomberg, be able to actually prove his publicly-made claim that, "400,000 children die every year in NYC from 2nd-hand smoke"? Or perhaps, do they fear the bright lights of a public court room would make their claims seem like those made by the hysteria-inducing, fact-less, EnviroNazi's and their global warming scam?

I assume that most of our friends here are non-smokers, and may either not care about this assault on freedom, or even agree with it. My question to you is this. What happens when the lets-ban-something Nazi's get around to some legal thing you like doing?

alright, here is my Plan for Change to lower tobacco taxes & save the free worlds.

Since I smoke , it's cool & OK for others to follow my example.

I will email all my supporters & encourage them to follow my example & start smoking.

the more smokers there are the less tax per pack is needed to raise the same amount of revenue

so taxes can them be lowered on a per pack basis

who said this job was too hard for me????

They didn't wait, they made stuff illegal, THEN I discovered it. Which still sucks.

I'm always wondering where the line lies that they won't cross. There is not a substance nor action that doesn't carry some amount of risk.

I have often wondered what would happen if EVERYBODY who smokes suddenly just stopped. That is what 'they' are preaching. "It is bad for you, so we will make you pay more to kill yourselves. We are going to use the money to fund childrens health programs." Riiight. It is all a big lotto scam like they pulled in Florida. Lotto funds would go to education. They do; right after they take the same amount from the education fund and move it to the general fund; for a net gain of ZERO. What vice is next?

The poster is correct. This is not about tobacco use. This is about using the power of the government to punish people for doing something that has been demonized by those who don't like it. The main thing politicians learn when they get away with something like this is to keep doing it.

Tobacco seeds can be purchased online, with growing instructions. It seems they have types (hybrids) that grow in most any State.

Just like bullets, it may be worth stocking up on tobacco seed. (And cucumber seed, and tomato seed, and corn seed, and wheat seed, and marijuana seed, and squash, and beans, and ocra, and rice, and carrots, and radishes, and cantelope, and WATERMELON, and peppers, and onions, and lettuce, and potatoes...)

Forget beets. I hate beets.

Apples, grapes, peaches... Do they make beer seed? Which reminds me - save a few bottles.

This penalty (aka tax) adds new meaning to the term "slippery slope".

They don't care about the people. It's rationalizing to the masses why the gov't is raising taxes
