Dennis Kucinich is a (toothless) putz.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich has rapped a U.S. House of Representatives cafeteria with a $150,000 lawsuit for selling him a vegetarian sandwich wrap in 2008 that he says caused dental damage when he bit into an olive pit.

The lawsuit that the Cleveland Democrat filed Jan. 3 against operators and suppliers of the Longworth House Office Building cafeteria says the sandwich he bought there "on or about" April 17, 2008 "contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit, that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the final product served."

Biting into it caused serious "permanent dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures," the legal documents say. They contend the congressman is entitled to damages for future dental and medical expenses and to compensate him for pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment.

"Said sandwich wrap was unwholesome and unfit for human consumption in that it was presented to contain pitted olives, yet unknown to plaintiff, contained an unpitted olive or olives which plaintiff did not reasonably expect to be in the food prepared for him, and could not visually detect prior to consumption," the lawsuit said.

A scheduling conference on the case has been set for April 8 before District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Gregory E. Jackson.

Kucinich's mishap occurred several months after the vegan congressman abandoned his second ill-fated presidential run. On the day of the incident, Kucinich chaired a hearing that examined whether cattle were being abused in California slaughterhouses.

Uh, is it ME, or doesn't Little Denny get free dental care as a Congressman? Where's the cost to him?

Maybe he's trying to make a score before people catch onto him and run him out of town on a rail. He's a pefect example of why we need to bring back mental institutions.

Here's guy who voted FOR health care, instead of changing tort law, looking to make money off our screwed up legal system!! Instead of dental surgery, he needs a tattoo on his forehead...

WORD OF THE DAY
INCANDESCENT BULB, n.

A time tested household device that’s a legacy of Thomas Edison’s genius, it was banned ‘to save the environment’ then replaced by the CFL which requires a HAZMAT team if you break it and an undertaker if a piece cuts you...

Oh brother, how can seemingly intelligent people keep spreading that CFL blarney. That's not right, it's plain BS.

Let me say at the outset, I hate BS regardless of whether it comes from the left or right. And this HAZMAT Team thing is fermented BS of the ninth order, with a rotted cherry on top. It's an outright fucking lie and it does nothing but further general stupidity to post it.

(mad yet)

The way you clean up the CFL's is almost identical to the way I was taught to clean up florescent tube bulbs in the Navy, 33 years ago. The CFL's are going away anyway, so stop already with the BS mongering.

In typical American fashion, and because of the mercury "PANIC" in the country, LED bulbs are coming. They are cheaper NOW than CFL's were five years ago and they'll last longer. When was the last time you saw a burned out LED anywhere!?

And besides that, WTF do light bulbs have to do with Little Denny's teeth!? We were discussing Little Denny's teeth.

For those of you in the right-wing branch of the Hand-Wringers and BS Spreaders Union, except that they've added the recycling centers to the mix, cleaning up CFL's is exactly like tube bulbs should have been done, always!

Hell I remember them evacuating a Woolco Store when I was a kid because four cases of those tubes got busted, when a shelf broke. That was in 1968 - 69 in Jax, FL!!

I had nothing to do with it, although a kid who looked exactly like my younger brother was close by at the time. (he's still kinda clumsy) (sorry Tio, but it's true) (and for those young people here, Woolco was a sorta Giant Woolworths and was the 'Wally World' of the time and place as a mere lad)

From the (and I hate these people) EPA, directions for cleaning up CFL's.

Because CFLs contain a small amount of mercury, EPA recommends the following clean-up and disposal guidelines:

1. Before Clean-up: Air Out the Room

Have people and pets leave the room, and don't let anyone walk through the breakage area on their way out.

Open a window and leave the room for 15 minutes or more.

Shut off the central forced-air heating/air conditioning system, if you have one.

2. Clean-Up Steps for Hard Surfaces

Carefully scoop up glass fragments and powder using stiff paper or cardboard and place them in a glass jar with metal lid (such as a canning jar) or in a sealed plastic bag.

Use sticky tape, such as duct tape, to pick up any remaining small glass pieces and powder.

Wipe the area clean with damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes. Place towels in the glass jar or plastic bag.

Do not use a vacuum or broom to clean up the broken bulb on hard surfaces.

3. Clean-up Steps for Carpeting or Rug:

Carefully pick up glass fragments and place them in a glass jar with metal lid (such as a
canning jar) or in a sealed plastic bag.

Use sticky tape, such as duct tape, to pick up any remaining small glass fragments and
powder.

If vacuuming is needed after all visible materials are removed, vacuum the area where the bulb was broken.

Remove the vacuum bag (or empty and wipe the canister), and put the bag or vacuum debris in a sealed plastic bag.

4. Clean-up Steps for Clothing, Bedding, etc.:

If clothing or bedding materials come in direct contact with broken glass or mercury containing
powder from inside the bulb that may stick to the fabric, the clothing or
bedding should be thrown away. Do not wash such clothing or bedding because mercury fragments in the clothing may contaminate the machine and/or pollute sewage.

You can, however, wash clothing or other materials that have been exposed to the mercury vapor from a broken CFL, such as the clothing you are wearing when you cleaned up the broken CFL, as long as that clothing has not come into direct contact with
the materials from the broken bulb.

If shoes come into direct contact with broken glass or mercury-containing powder from the bulb, wipe them off with damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes. Place the
towels or wipes in a glass jar or plastic bag for disposal.

5. Disposal of Clean-up Materials

Immediately place all clean-up materials outdoors in a trash container or protected area for the next normal trash pickup.

Wash your hands after disposing of the jars or plastic bags containing clean-up materials.

Check with your local or state government about disposal requirements in your specific area. Some states do not allow such trash disposal. Instead, they require that broken
and unbroken mercury-containing bulbs be taken to a local recycling center.

6. Future Cleaning of Carpeting or Rug: Air Out the Room During and After Vacuuming

The next several times you vacuum, shut off the central forced-air heating/air conditioning
system and open a window before vacuuming.

Keep the central heating/air conditioning system shut off and the window open for at least
15 minutes after vacuuming is completed.

BTW, that's the 2nd or 3rd time I've posted that as memory serves. I'll do so again, with equal venom for the right-wing branch of the Hand-Wringers and BS Spreaders Union.

As Paul Harvey used to say, "...have a good Day!"

Personally, i'm a fan of LED's. I think their wide-spread use is long overdue.

But remember, up until recently, the EnviroNazi's have been pushing florescent bulbs down our throats. In fact, it's just like they did years ago when they said that if we continued to use glass bottles, (an item that can be recycled limitlessly) we would all die horrible deaths and the entire world would end. After that, you almost couldn't find a glass bottle anywhere. Everything went to plastic. Now? Well, now plastic is the big enviro-enemy. What do we do now? Buy our milk in wooden containers?

I'm sure my buddy Steve has far more experience than i do when it comes to things like this. But, i am an expert when it comes to what i see with my own eyes. Back in the late 60's, i had a buddy who was the building maintenance man where i worked at the time. He busted a 6' long florescent bulb one day while changing it. A sliver cut into his arm and "he died 7 months later. Official cause of death, Mercury poisoning". He was 42 when he died. I was there. I knew the family. I knew the doctors. I saw the ME's report. And before anyone should ask, the autopsy found "no medical problems that would have contributed to his death".
