Hitler had the Jews...

.
Mao had the War Lords, Lenin had the Czar, and so it goes. Every totalitarian has to have a "bad guy" to demonize before the masses. Something for them to hate and blame for their suffering.

The new White House has chosen Rush Limbaugh as their "bad guy".

And according to the AP, he's perfect as the Wicked Witch to BOHICA's Dorothy. I'm not really sure how Rush is responsible for the stock market drop, or the mortgage thing, or jobs. I get the whole "damn those evil Jews" controlling Germany's money, but this...?
.
Top Democrats believe they have struck political gold by depicting Rush Limbaugh as the new face of the Republican Party, a full-scale effort first hatched by some of the most familiar names in politics and now being guided in part from inside the White House.
.
They've decided to portray him as the defacto head of the Republican Party. He's the new Jim Taylor, except Taylor was a behind the scenes guy. Rush is in their face, and on my radio daily. It's laughable because THEY think they have HIM. I don't see this ending well.
.
Now I'm an old snake hunter, I used to do it as a boy in Florida. I was young and dumb and thought I was invincible.
.
I've hunted rattlesnakes in the St. John's River in Jacksonville. I've hunted less dangerous snakes around there. And sometimes snapping turtles down there too. There's one thing I learned.
.
When you grab a big, poisonous, twisting, snapping animal, it's a struggle as to just who has the upper hand. You might have the head, but the tail will wrap around and slap at you. If you drop the head and hold the tail, the snake mostly tries to get away, but he can spin around and strike quickly. Turtles are as bad. It might pull it's head back in the shell, bit it ain't asleep. It's waiting.
.
I hope I'm listening when the El Rushbo strikes.
.

Well shit-o-mighty C-Bug... George isn't around to attack - Sarah is taking care of Alaska business - you expect them to attack... uh... Rick Perry? :-)

Steve -
This is a good topic - I'm glad you made it it's own thread...

As I said OT in a past thread (oops - maybe that was Jerry Failwell...)

This is not a new ploy. Liberals have a bad habit of taking it on themselves to "assign leadership" to the opposition. They've been doing the same thing to Christians for years; find a high-profile pastor who makes a stupid remark or does something stupid, and try to make him look like the 'Christian Leader' of all.

I really wish Obama WOULD debate Rush. The ratings would be through the roof. But Obama will NOT debate Rush (nor would I if I was him) - Rush is a professional debator, Obama is trying hard (and so far failing) to be a professional president. No contest.

I'd even pay to ee a debate between Rush and Obama's puppet master - that Mexican Emanuel what-his-name.

I'd pay to see the comedy of Rush debating the current VP - whats-his-name. (The guy that racially slurred Obama during the demorat primaries - - What IS his name? I forget.)

C-Bug,
it's just crazy isn't it? What the liberal glitterati never got is that we listen to Rush because we agree with his core ideals. His over the top jabs at the libs are entertainment. It's that he does it all in a bombastic style that is funny as hell.

It's not about marching orders or talking points. To make that point, I don't think Rush can order me around, he doesn't have the "gravitas".

Jimbo,
he's not going to do any interviews until after his time in the WH is done. And not because he thinks he's anything special, very few Presidents do that. I don't blame them, if I won the race I wouldn't do interviews either.

But the problem for him is that he's chosen his "helpers" badly. He turned his back on many of the people he made promises to. He has done a 180 degree turn on his speeches about the war. I could go on.

I think it's ALL going to bite them in 2010. 8 or 9 percent un-employment, the economy still in the crapper and war in Afghanistan are going to hurt the Dems.

50,000 troops left in Iraq isn't going to help. It's twice what McCain said he'd leave there. I fully think that the troops in Afghanistan will push back the New Taliban. But the radicals will cross Iran, with help from the government in Iran, and start trouble in Iraq anew. That's going to piss off the military and their families. Mother Sheehan is the exception. Most of us support the troops and the mission. My kids came home safely, and I'm worried that their time was wasted and they were placed in harm's way for nothing if we allow Al Queda and the Taliban to re-emerge as strong as they were before.

What pisses off libs is that Rush called all this before the election. He wasn't the only one by any means. But he's the easiest target based on exposure.

"But Obama will NOT debate Rush (nor would I if I was him) - Rush is a professional debator,"... Jimbo

Rush is not a professional debator. Actually, he's not a debator at all, since talking to a microphone is not a debate. In fact, that he's not out there, face-to-face, debating heavy-weight leftists is one of the reasons i'm not a fan. (that, and his ego, ala Bill O'Buffoon, and Hanity) Sure i listen to him, because i do share his political philosophy, but i don't think much of him personally. (and with a new $400 Mil contract, i'm sure he cares)

What's going on here is the left using one of it's oldest tricks, throw it all against the wall and see what sticks! In other words, keep your enemies on the defensive, and it works every time. In the empty minds of average Americans, defending yourself, even from an obvious lie, makes you "appear" guilty, and that's good enough for the leftists.

As most of us realize, the very last thing the Obamunists want is for the people to be paying attention to what they're doing, and where they're taking the country. Having a major target like Rush is a gift from heavan for them, which is why they're always smiling when the subject comes up. Reacting to their taunts is not the way to beat them. Doing what they do, is!

Rush slammed Obie and him goons yesterday. Challenged Braaaaak to a debate (which will never happen) and called Rahm a girly-man.

I know the St Johns well, Schteveo. I was stationed at Kings Bay (the only good thing Jimmy Peanut did as Pres) during my brief tenure in the World's Greatest Navy. I miss St Mary's--nice little town.

On the one side, the president of the United States: soft-spoken and conciliatory, never angry, always invoking the recession and its victims. This president invokes the language of “responsibility,” and in his own life seems to epitomize that ideal: He is physically honed and disciplined, his worst vice an occasional cigarette. He is at the same time an apparently devoted husband and father. Unsurprisingly, women voters trust and admire him.

And for the leader of the Republicans? A man who is aggressive and bombastic, cutting and sarcastic, who dismisses the concerned citizens in network news focus groups as “losers.” With his private plane and his cigars, his history of drug dependency and his personal bulk, not to mention his tangled marital history, Rush is a walking stereotype of self-indulgence – exactly the image that Barack Obama most wants to affix to our philosophy and our party. And we’re cooperating! Those images of crowds of CPACers cheering Rush’s every rancorous word – we’ll be seeing them rebroadcast for a long time.

Wow, a post without an insult, and an actual, reasonable opinion...

I'm almost speechless. You must have copied and pasted it.

Look, I dislike Rush limbaugh. I think he is a pompous, puffed-up blowhard fool. I disagree with the rancor and ad hominem stuff that he throws out daily, and think that the democrats are smart to try and make him the republican spokesperson. What better way to marginalize a political stance than to put at its head a fat blowhard?

And I could really give a shit less if they do. I cannot wait until both political parties implode from within and allow us an opportunity to install a more freedom-loving regime.

That being said, it occurs to me that in my lifetime, at least, i've never seen a sitting administration go after a person in the media like this. Usually, presidents and administrations won't attack media people.

That seems strange to me. I can't put my finger on it, but it bothers me when a sitting administration thinks that it has the right to go after and even attempt to silence a member of the media (even if that member is an opinionated blowhard buffoon.)

Wow.

I almost totally agree with HLF.

Goober,
You hit right on it. THe Dems are smart to put him up as the leader. It makes moderate conservatives want to shy away from the party.

Rush (like Michael Savage) is an entertainer. His schtick make him a ton of money. He's not about to change it. Obama should take him up on his offer for a debate. Not Obama himself (he's the president, he doesn't need to go on talk radio) but Rahm or one of the other guys. Show he's not scared and believes in his agenda.

If he doesn't, they've created a bigger monster in Rush. The challenge has been laid down. If the dems don't respond, Rush will just say they're scared, that their ideas cannot stand up to true debate.

There's that annoying noise again, but somehow it wasn't quite as annoying. Could HLT be toning it back so as to stick around? Where would he go and be given the freedom he's had here?

I say delete his comments, starting today, no matter how good he acts now. He had many chances.

Again, i'm no fan of Rush's, but in all fairness, he's never said he was the leader of the Republican party, or anything else, other than his army of listeners. In fact, he usually knocks the Repub's as much as he knocks the Demoncrats, and (IMO) rightly so.

I don't like Rush's personal style, but i do agree with his tactics. Our side needs a few "bomb throwers" like him and Ann Coulter, especially since the left has an unrestrained army of them. And the only effective way to fight them, is to use their tactics. Had the Republicans done that they might still be in power.

Anonymous said...

LOL, the republicans aren't in power because they totally destroyed the country.

They'll be gone for decades.

Anonymous said...

"Had the Republicans done that they might still be in power."

I'm glad they are not, but I am less glad that the Dems are. Where does that leave me?

That leaves you running from your beliefs because the implementation of them failed.
